France this summer?

Er ... actually wrong in my case, David. We had a river cruise, Lyon to Avignon, cancelled in May, could have rearranged it for September, and now looking forward to it next May.
As I've tried to explain to you on another thread "intention" and "interest" are not synonymous!

We have family, both French and Italian "sides" so we've been discussing this at home for most of the year. The Italian ones made it home recently, not without problems because of the timings for tests as they drove all the way to southern Italy. Not everyone is limited to a caravan but we would have loved a visit to France with our van however it's on hold till things settle down.
I am tired of the comments which appear to judge others without knowing anything about individual circumstances.

We changed our mind recently. For us it wasn’t any concern that we would be any less safe in France. In fact I thought we would probably be safer. It was more that with all the uncertainty and additional hoops to jump through the fun had sort of gone out of it. For us anyway.

Sadly, this is possibly the thin edge of a new wedge if the beta variant proves (as suspected) to be more resistant to vaccines. I understand Germany also has a significant cluster of beta variant infections.

Ditto. So there was no need for your earlier comment which WTG has answered very eloquently. Try not to think the worst of others.

Everything is beginning to break down again, it’s gone from excitement to the same old same old🤷🏻♂️

We're in France, and when we came we fully expected to quarantine on our return. Then that requirement was going to be removed, now it's back again, but it won't disrupt our plans because we're here and can do nothing to change it. So we'll make the best of it and enjoy our holiday.

I feel your pain, as soon a Dogs are mentioned I know what posts will follow & from whom. Plus that same negativity pours from those who don’t want a Dog nor intend to get one. So-I do sympathise👍🏻

Good for you, but be careful what you wish for, my daughter is with us now having driven thru Spain/France/Tunnel = 10 days isolation = at least 2 calls per day from track and trace = 1 visit from nice man with a clipboard = 2 & 8 days test results took 36 hrs to return, both were put into a priority post box , she had ordered tests before leaving Spain which were delivered to us (Boots). 5 day quick release test (£85) results took 48hrs to be delivered via email after lots of calls to Boots customer service, and of course you cannot confront them direct in the pharmacy where you took the test because officially you can only go out to take the 5 day test returning home immediatly provided your 2 day test proves negative, why you then have to do an 8 days test is beyond me, but rules is rules, the cost for all this aggro £300+ and they still need to return to Spain, more expense, and my guess is it will get worse as the need for testing increases. Spain will be next on the naughty step
What i find quite facinating is the fact that track and trace have all the serial numbers of the tests you have done, and the results, a bit creepy really.

"Its not unfair W2G"
It was very unfair and you as much as admitted it earlier in your back tracking post before you again started complaining about others posting. No one is relishing anyone's bad luck, no one is getting at you.
An excellent comparison has been drawn up page of your behaviour with that which you wrongly accuse others of and it again shows how you judge others by your own standards.
What's that well used phrase of yours? Ah, yes, "it's not all about you". You need to stop seeing demons where none exist and take people's posts at face value.

WTG, I would happily replace the word negativity with the word caution. I want to travel overseas when I feel confident I won’t end up scrambling for an overpriced seat on a flight home because the Govt has made a knee jerk reaction to criticism after ignoring scientific advice.
