Exactly so - it is the relative ease of human to human transmissibility which has made Covid such a threat to us all, surely?

Agreed. It’s like history repeating itself, 1300’s the Black Death spread across the World, carried by travellers and sailors, and rats on board those ships. It spread as slowly as travellers could walk, ride or sail.

Time warp forwards and you have a not dissimilar situation, health hazard. Except we travel further, faster and in much greater numbers. So it only takes days, weeks to spread.

On the plus side, we have some very clever scientists who have worked miracles finding something to keep us a whole lot safer, if not disease free, and we have the intelligence and learning to understand how and why it spreads, so can take appropriate precautions.

What is required now is the patience and fortitude to adapt and use our intelligence and fortitude a little bit longer, or fully commit to excepting all the testing, expense, adapted living, more testing and proper quarantine where other countries offer that opportunity not for monetary gains, but because it is deemed safe.

I have no issues at all with anyone heading off overseas. But I have little trust that they won’t be bringing something else back and spreading it when they return. Hence the Indian variant.

You could be brave and have an adventure off a Club Site AD.😉 It’s not hard really, some of us do it all the time, and very nice it can be.

I'm not sure one mention is exactly an obsession, David. But enjoy your stay, wherever the "mystery site" is! smile

Hi David, Didn't think about the length of trip when I responded but I do know that the standard, I think 31 days, can be extended and seem to recall thinking the cost reasonable when I inquired.

When I opened the Flex Plus it cost £11 a month and my quote from others was around £180.

We use Flex Plus as well, have done for years. Find it good value for all the extras. We have had occasion to use the breakdown services element twice, once for MH, and found it excellent. In this country, not overseas.

I fully agree with your point on vaccinations but you are still missing one important point with due respect.

You could catch yellow Fever, Mararia ... even though vaccinated a few days before coming home. The vaccine will ensure you do not become ill.  But you personally, simply by being near to someone, could not spread it to any other (un-vaccinated or not) human either travelling with you, or back at home in the supermarket,.. wherever.

However if you were infected with Covid a few days before coming home you could infect someone else very easily. It could be someone who even though vaccinated could still become ill, or it could be an un-vaccinated person leading to being very ill or worse. The important bit is that you can give Covid to someone no matter how careful you are. You could of course even bring back with you a new variant.

As I said you/we spread Covid. Why take the risk just because one is vaccinated?

Indeed only one person but all affected by a need to isolate I expect.

An "escape variant"-what like Kent/Indian/Delta etc? Maybe any lack of visitors will be down to UK being seen as a tad too risky?

Those are not escape variants and will doubtless all be present in Europe and spread further in the EU.

Nothing about me being safe David, it is about stopping the spread of the virus, I'm vaccinated so quite safe but I can still spread it and I recognise that and would not wish to infect any one else. Not sure what you mean by internet chatter, I have posted facts.

Btw are borders really open? I mean I thought one needed a good reason to cross them in all countries and holidaying isn't one of them, have things changed?

I think we are at cross purposes, you posted it was acceptable to travel place if one was vaccinated against a certain disease. You mentioned Yellow Fever as an example, I merely pointed out that Covid is far different as it is a human that spreads it further. With Yellow fever, Malaria... human to human transmission through personal contact is impossible. It is not in the salvia or can be coughed out. That is all I am posting about.

Spain certainly seems to be open CS       LINK

France is also opening for business. The business being holidays. Personally we won’t be going until France is on the green list. If that happens by September. However, currently anyone going would have to quarantine on return. Therefore at relatively little risk of bringing anything back and passing it on. Certainly for a RV owner, who can travel directly to their home. Not so much the case for those travelling by air who might be using public transport to reach their quarantine address.

Ok thanks, I'm not taking that much notice of which other countries are doing what as like you I won't be travelling till our government 'approves them' for travel and even then it will be (almost) back to normal in terms of travelling and no quarantine.

It's certainly the possibility of quarantine on return home which would be a deal breaker for us.

If, by September, Greece (or at least the islands) are on a revised green list then the tests, though possibly inconvenient and costly, would not deter us, but quarantine surely implies that there is more than a slight risk of infection, else why would it be required?

The breakdown part also covers European cover, thus saving you a pretty penny.

In addition the travel cover is Worldwide.

A&J correct when they say days can be extended as we paid for 60 days a couple of years ago. Plus they do extend medical cover, at least they did for me but at a hefty price ( no different from other travel insurers). In addition they also extended cover for MiL to go on holiday to Italy with OH. She was 85 or 86 at the time (MiL not OH!!!) and the extension cost something like £20. So they do tend to be flexible if they can.

That’s scaremongering.  If you are vaccinated and the other guy is vaccinated the risk is small. About the same chance of my wife passing it to me or me to her. Should we sleep in separate rooms?

And that's precisely the case many of us are making. At present, in most overseas countries that "other guy" is less likely than you to have been vaccinated. Worth waiting for a little longer surely? Most of Europe will have caught up with us by the end of August according to reports.

Well if that’s the case Boris and eminent world scientists, their data and guidance is clearly wrong. But there again some mere mortals and lay folk know better it would seem. There are still many in this country unvaxed people let alone elsewhere in the world, many are very vulnerable too and that’s not taking into account the issue of new variants! That last sentence merely illustrates that ‘it’s all about me’ aspect.

Chancers MSF, there’s a lot of em about. On the upside they’re still here so it may just be a bit of wishful thinking on their part🤷🏻‍♂️

So far R2B ‘they’ are being kept in check by the legislation and that is a blessing for many. We are, of course, in this together the wise, the foolish and all shades in between.

If you are vaccinated and the other guy is vaccinated

I think you may have missed off an if in-between the and & the ?

because if the other guy isn't vaccinated...

So not scaremongering at all, just the truth I would say.

It’s happening right now C🤷🏻‍♂️, the India virus ain’t catching buses it’s being transmitted by folk who don’t follow rules. If we all stuck to the scientific suggestions we’d not be here right now-the chancers are goofing it up for everyone, the shocker is-some are still chancing it☹️

I’ll be very surprised if the 21 June unlocking isn’t delayed. I think it needs to be postponed in view of the increase in infections.😕
