On the plus side TD Brian’s Alex can look forward to a visit to the Cauldron that is the home of the massive Wendies next season.

Also Wayne Rooney’s   Derby County are still in the doodoo with the EFL and could be joining the South Yorkshire contingent, although its more likely they’ll be starting next season with a points deduction

First one , to be honest, was more of a sideways sarky dig , Roger mate.  That's a bit of a bad habit of mine ~~ set 'em up and then, couple of days later, pop back in and " S P L A T " knock 'em base over elbow ".  Oh I do like a simple, static target -- pretty much like a '50s-60's third division  Sunday League attacking** right footed left back that you know  embarassed.

Still I'm a-going to enjoy the footy on telebox next season 'cos I've spent a couple of hours in Currys/Dixons/ P.C. World boring stiff a pleasant enough young assistant who had never before had the pleasure of hearing my wallet screaming so ! Never mind there will be a little more drain on the Smart Meter in a fortnight, due to the said ( larger ) telebox surprised being run-in on crikit, afleticks and similar.

Stay warm, stay safe and Stay ON-SIDE !!

Congratulations to Leicester City on winning the FA Cup !
We must have some Leicester fans with us on CT, I hope so 🙂🙂🙂
And  great for see fans back at wonderful Wembley.

We’ve tickets for next Sunday’s Man City v Everton game. Will be strange to be back in a crowd with so many people, after being ultra cautious for the last 16 months or so.

But really need to get ourselves  back to some sort of normality now we’re both fully vaccinated.

I would, normally, join you in your good wishes Pliers but, on a purely personal level, I thought the entire game  { which I did manfully struggle through } was a load of rubbish. The number of attempts to control the ball where it bounced off shins, ankles etc was appalling and not helped by the multiplicity of tackles/challenges/blatant fouls from behind.

At least I'm happy with V A R in this instance, since it avoided yours truly having to suffer an extra 30 minutes of ******* !

Rant Over  ~~  Wonder if it will be as bad when they meet again next week.

    Yours,  Grumpy yell

Yes, brilliant for Leicester City and their fans. At a time when some of the country’s biggest clubs were found wanting and venal after the super league debacle, its great to see a Club like Leicester and its owners, players and fans lifting the FACup. Great for players like Jamie Vardy and Schmiechel as well, who haven’t simply followed the big money. Schmiechel pulled off two wonderful saves, ok it wasn’t a rip roaring end to end game, but the end result was great.

Enjoy the game Pliers. It will be very strange, but so exciting👍😁

Another football season nearly over, and yesterday we actually went to a match, Man City v Everton. Seemed a bit strange at first, but everything was well organised and social distancing in the ground strongly encouraged.

Great to see Rúben Dias play, a very promising 24 year old, looking very good in his first season in English football.

And a brilliant live set from Blossoms before and after the match. (Stockport lads).

Did any other CT people manage to get to see any live sport in the last year? And what are your hopes / plans for the next 12 months?

Congrats to Man City Pliers, and good luck to them next weekend🤞

We will be off to our first live sporting event in September, Tour of Britain starting in Cornwall. Expecting it to be huge crowds, it usually is at starts and finishes, and also lots of folks out on the routes as well. We have lost two Tour De Yorkshire’s and last years TofB, so hoping all goes well in September. There’s seldom any bother of any kind at bike races, most folks just find their viewing spot for the day, get the flask and sandwiches out, then watch for helicopters and outriders, or watch on big screen. We are hoping to stick MH on a spot if we can.

    Yes well done City.

We’ve got tickets for the England v Pakistan T20I at Headingley in July so here’s hoping we’ll be ok to go by then.

Enjoy the cricket and the ToB. 🙂

We didn’t feel at all vulnerable at the football, we were in our usual seats, row C on the middle tier, and well ventilated it most certainly was. There was an absolutely freezing, howling gale blowing straight at us, more  like mid winter than May.

Good luck to our rivals, United, in their European final in Gdańsk tonight. Their fans will have even more formalities to go through than ourselves, and have to self isolate on returning home. Any CT people going to the match? I know we have some United fans on the forum.

Gdańsk looks an interesting place to visit, but bet it will be warmer in Oporto 🙂

So Sad for United -- Penalties all the way down to the keepers

     So  it ends up  Villareal 1 (11 pens) -- 1 (10 pens ) United

A Valiant try but no silver Trophy alas.

Listened to the 'Big Match' from Portugal  last night yell

Probably the most appalling radio commentary I've ever heard -- more like a group of mates leaning on the fence chatting .  Seldom did they tell us which side had the ball, nor which half they were actually in.  And this from the "National Broadcaster's" prime radio sports channel.

Do hope they get their act together by Wednesday when the TMS Team start with the coverage of the England ~~ New Zealand Test Matches  or Yours Truly will be firing off grumpy emails  again !!

    Back from Porto, worn out!
Enjoyed the trip and the match, congrats to Chelsea, by far the better team.

Think our covid vaccinations have been challenged by the flight out from Manchester, people singing and dancing in the aisle on the plane, including the flight cabin crew. 9am in the morning, beer supply sold out, so drinkers had to buy wine instead.

Much quieter returning home this lunchtime, as you might expect.

Need to do our Day 2 DIY Covid tests on Monday, fingers crossed....🙂

Not exactly my team(s) but with Morecambe winning the League 2 play-off it means that each of those teams that just missed automatic qualification for promotion, in the English leagues, have in fact been promoted, ie Brentford to the Premiership, Blackpool to the Championship and now Morecambe to League 1. Is this a regular occurrence or not?

Town doing the business early this window. We’ve signed a keeper, a centre back, a striker ( well re-signed Jordan Rhodes) and a full back with another full back to come.

Mind you in true Yorkshire fashion it’s all been done on the cheap so far, all the above are free transfers

    Totally innocent 😇.

Michael Gove was also spotted in the Ribeira district of Porto, wearing a  Chelsea shirt.  I’m sure he was previously a QPR fan. Never trust a man who changes his alliance 😱.

Town’s new kit was announced today. They’ve gone for a sort of replica of the kit that the team wore in our one and only win in the FA Cup. That was in 1922 so it’s a centenary of sorts. They’ve also put the names of the team inside the back of the collar, a nice touch.

That news in itself won’t be of interest but the reaction on the fans forum was extraordinary. In other years there is always a mixed reaction to the new kit with some quite vitriolic posts, but this kit has received universal approval.
    Unbelievable Geoff

Another nice touch by the club was that descendants of members of the 1922 team were invited to the kit launch and in some cases modelled the kit.

It was obviously too good to last there has been some sniping on DATM (Down at the Mac, the original name of the stadium was The MacAlpine Stadium). However this has so far been only about the position of the second sponsor’s name on the back of shirt. It never fails to surprise me how some people can be so fussed about trivia.

Brian a bit of info, Town have just released a list of friendly matches and the two at the JSS are both on 31st July

The first kicks off at 1230 and is against the Alex. It’s behind closed doors but if you were minded to watch, Town will be streaming it on their YouTube thingy

They’re playing again at 1630 against Oldham Athletic and hoping to let fans in to watch

    Thank You, England  --  you've managed to bore A B M stiff twice in two weeks,  Firstly at crikit then again tonight at futball { well that's what they said it was  !  }

Think in future I will be out side holding a brolly over the favourite bee food plants  much more satisfying.

Another 90 minutes of my life wasted watching the hopeless, inept, overpaid jokers that like to call themselves footballers. The 'beautiful game' it is not!  All teams playing in the most boring and laboriuos manner! Celebrating a draw for gawd sake! Commentators discussing the new hairstyles of the protagonists! (far too complimentary a word) I mean, just WHAT the hell is going on here???!!!

Ive had enough. Time to call it a day. Football used to be entertaining and played by men with spirit, guile and guts who were proud to pull on an England jersey. That is no longer the case and I cannot pen the adjectives I would like to use to describe this current crop. At least the Lions tour starts soon

We’re away in the ‘van at the moment, and never take a TV with us, but seems there have been more goals in today’s games.

Just Scotland and England that have only 1 goal between them in 2 games. Maybe playing into form as the tournament progresses......?

Just reminding you, Roger, that on the date of your post  [above ] it looked like Crewe were about to depart from the Bottom Division, having suffered a 4 - 0 defeat from 'Artlepools  and very recently they, Artlepools that is, scraped a win against Torquat Disunited, and as such, will return to Division Two of the EFL  whilst T'Alex are slumbering gently in the middle of Divn ONE !!

Just have to get my seasons bragging in whilst I can,  wink, don't I
