What’s the point of the Club if sites are full?

'Twas ever thus.
Happened 30 years ago when we started out but when we were working the weekends we were free to get away were sacrosanct no matter what the weather.
Not so sure they are as important now as we prefer quieter periods during the week unless "doing" a tour.

It pays to recall that no shows went down when deposits were scrapped.

Corners wrote "Again compared to the whole club membership and/or users of sites what is the number who post on here or write in to the magazine? Is it a true representative sample of the membership?"
Why should it not be taken as representative. Such a procedure is often used generally to provide the figures we see in the media, immigration being one of them.
Anyway, to follow on from my earlier post, I have as predicted received a response to my E Mail addressed to Nick Lomas. It was from the "Email Support Team" couched in the anticipated vague terms which failed to address the points raised. No surprise there.

To return to the subject…
You're right that we'll never know, Nellie, but I think it's quite logical to expect more cancellations this year as restrictions on travel are eased. It's not all negative, though, as it gives others the chance to grab dates as the OP did. 👍🏻

Was that about the price list, CY?

Yes. Bottom line - you ain't gonna get one.

Cheers.
And your protestations fell on deaf ears.

Is it? I see people giving their opinions and views but it is not used to make statements about the general population and/or to make changes in policy?
There are strict rules and procedures that such companies use in obtaining a sample in order to reduce bias. It is easily shown that CT posters are a biased sample with some questions. Is the age range representative of the whole memberships? I would say not, it appears mostly male does it not? How posters posters on here have families with children that come away with them? And in school age?
Not to mention how small the sample is, 30 regular posters out of 350,000?

Yes which you have been found to give misleading information from (clear evidence of block booking from AGM when there is not for example)
and you now have found inconsistencies in the AGM minutes yourself so my point stands.

I see on club sites..
So you're extrapolating what you see on your infrequent and short (I think you would agree with that?) visits to club sites to the whole membership?
So what you are saying is that what you see matches the posters on here and yes I'm sure it does 100% but that is not the whole membership nor representative of it. Are all member pensioners? I seem to recall the club giving out the 'average' member once and it is not anywhere near a CT poster.
I would suggest that someone who visits club sites only in school holidays would think the club is only full of young families?

I'm sure you're right in the comparison with what you see on club sites, David, but until you use club sites in all seasons and see the variations in site users, it can't be taken as an overall view.
In the light of your last sentence, the club has much to thank us oldies for in keeping things ticking over out of peak season.🙂

You might think it is misleading information I hope others realise it isn't apart from that I don#'t recall pointing anything out about block bookings, cancellations yes but not block bookings no. Where would one get any figures on block bookings and perhaps you would like to point out where I have!
A minor error in the minutes doesn't materially alter the facts presented over the 5 years.

Well one does because one is only going at a time when others members who work or have kids won't be there. When was the last time you were on a club site in the school holidays, you can only report back on the times you have been.
as you agree 100% with my extrapolation...
What I said: 'So what you are saying is that what you see matches the posters on here and yes I'm sure it does 100%'
But then I tried to point out is that what you appear to do doing is taking that biased small sample and saying that represents the whole membership?

You're saying that CT posters are mostly female? Ok
I would love to think that the club does read CT but sadly I'm not so sure.

Well I can think of at least two things the Club has done initially driven by postings on here and there are probably more.
1. Motorhome disposal point changes
2. The rolling booking system
Its a cheap way of gathering views, surveys cost money

I have a recollection of the club doing regular surveys....

and I completed a few, they usually targetted specific points the Club wanted feedback on, site wardens, reception service etc but there were occasionally opportunities to freely express any subject if there was a lead in opportunity.

Do you want the page number where you talked about block booking and cancellations, the system being open to abuse and is abused and the (quote) evidence being clear when the official documents show their is no evidence what so ever?
You have, I'm sorry, posted things quoting 'read the AGM minutes' yet when pushed there is nothing of the sort, or you say one whole section is at variance (which you now call a minor error) with another and naturally taking the section that proves your point.
I'm sorry but you can't use the AGM phrase once you yourself have brought up errors in it. As I said what to believe?
This is now off topic so reply if you will but I'll keep it on topic.

Sorry I really have missed this, when did PD (as you have replied to him) give figures about averages. I'm not saying he didn't but I can't find it?
0 -
Again how do you know that this was driven by CT, any proof?
I would be happy to think it did but any evidence PD?

So it's possible the changes you mentioned came about as a result of the surveys, or direct representation to the club, or from staff input, or via issues raised at the AGM. There are numerous avenues.

Can I add a +1 here ED?
