I too hope there is a good up take in the younger age groups but I think things will now slow down. Our little hub is now down to about one third of the staff numbers (volunteers) that it had back in Jan / Feb. Many have gone back to jobs and good luck to them. Others, me included, are just worn out and I have decided to finish. The last straw for me was a load of abuse from a forties something who insisted nothing less than a doctor must give her her vaccination.

My eldest Son who is currently 43 but his birthday is in May got a date for his first and second vaccines today. Whilst the 1st doses seem to only be around the 100,000 each day the second ones are really flying now, very impressive. Our second vaccines are on Thursday of this week.

Just had our boosters in the town where our local teacher daughter lives. She's in her forties and can't get a booking in the town and will have to travel to another town! I'm hoping she can get a booking soon, it's very busy for her age group.
Lying low just now, hoping we don't get similar reactions to our first jabs...but so pleased to get to this day and very grateful to all those who made it possible.

MK seem to be ahead of the game as youngest Son (42) has just informed us that he is getting his vaccination about the same time as his brother!!!

I think you have done well to do all that you have. Anyone abusing staff needs to be sent away unjabbed with time to rethink their attitudes, disgraceful behaviour.☹️

I was having an AAA scan the other day and the nurse doing the scan told me she is worried about the take up, or lack thereof, by the younger generation. She was speaking to her son, a 20 year old, who told her he wasn't going to have the jab and none of his mates were either because of the blood clot scare.
She told him that Catching Covid is more likely to give you a blood clot than the OAZ jab and anyway they have decided not to give that vaccine to that age group. Didn't have an affect but telling him that he might not be able to go on a Stag do to Munich in October without proof of having one looks like changing his mind! Will be the same with holidays or Festivals or Sports events (hopefully, anything to get them to have it)

I'm just sorry that you and fellows jabbers have suffered verbal abuse. I'm afraid some people see it as an Inalienable right to be able to insult who they wish.

I think things are now entering a bit of a difficult stage with vaccinations. Younger age groups rely heavily upon peer group pressure, get their information at times from less reliable sources, and perhaps don’t always do the research they need to do. Not saying all younger folks are like this, many are very well informed, confident enough to make their own researched decisions in many instances. It might need some coercion to get the message home a slightly different way, such as no jab, no overseas visits etc.... Or no Festival tickets etc... medical exemptions apart of course.
There are some very young people dying in India, it is all age groups suffering.

Thanks for your response. Thankfully any abuse is very very rare; mostly it stems from the fears people have. I can now go camping more than I had planned but possibly go back to help the vaccination efforts if we all need boosters in the autumn.

Got the phone call this afternoon. Covid vaccine - the sequel, will take place tomorrow afternoon. Hope I won't have the side effects I had last time. I'll be taking paracetamol before and after the jab to attempt to ward off any side effects.

The day after my first vaccination I felt really cold all day, it was very unpleasant, but this time round I had no side effects at all, which was a relief.
OH had her second on Friday and only had a bit of a sore arm for a day, same as with her first.
DIL, who is 47, has just been sent an appointment for her first vaccination, they seem to be concentrating on second vaccinations meantime up here.

To late now for most of us but there does seem to be some correlation between taking a daily does of vitamin D and not having any after effects. I was on the pills prior to my first jab and no side effects whatsoever. I stopped taking them when the sun came out and had a really bad time after my second jab. Just coincidence perhaps.

Yes, probably coincidence. I've never taken vitamin D supplement in my life and had no adverse effect whatsoever to my first jab. not had my second yet.

Felt grotty for a day on both occasions, the day after my Pfizer jab.

If you look at it logically Vitamin D strengthens the immune system so when you have something alien injected into you it is possible that you could get slightly worse side effects because the Vitamin D is trying to protect you? We both take Vitamin D and both suffered side effects. We get our second dose this week so we shall see.
Not sure people should stop taking Vitamin D just because the sun has come out unless you spend a great deal of time outdoor and exposed to the sun? I have cut my usual dose in half for the summer but will up it again towards the end of September.

Interesting....... we take Vit D through Winter months, and as we do spend a great deal of time out of doors, had knocked it off around a month ago. I had no side effects whatsoever with jab one, but did feel a bit achy and feverish yesterday, although I was toiling in a hot greenhouse for around three hours, lifting and handling. Ok this morning, but still a bit stiff. Pfizer, jabbed on Sunday.

I can't take Vit D as it causes unpleasant side effects all on its own.
Consequently, I had both my Pfizer jabs without taking any supplements and had nothing more than a slightly sore arm on both occasions.🤷♂️

As I was told a couple of weeks ago by a member of the team at Imperial college
Paracetamol is far more dangerous as is the contraceptive pill than ever having the Oxford jab
She is very sad that social media is being used ,and some still believe, to tell people that the covid virus is a hoax ,when we are spending many hours a week trying to find ways of controlling it

Had an email from the NHS Vaccination Service today to say that where we had our original vaccination is now closed as a centre and we have been redirected to a new clinic, with more room, at the Open University which just happens to be a little nearer to where we live. I was a bit surprised when I got the email as originally they had not confirmed the appointments despite entering the email address. Margaret has yet to have the same notification but we will both go together.

I felt a bit 'off-colour' for the day after my first AZ jab, but when I had my second one on Saturday - had no ill effects - didn't feel the needle, no aching arm, and most surprisingly, didn't even have a bruise where the needle went in - which considering I take anti-coagulants, is a miracle.
If it wasn't for the additional sticker on my 'jab card', I wouldn't have know I had had it at all

Not sure that statement is entirely accurate. NHS advise that in the UK, sunlight doesn't contain enough UVB radiation in winter (October to early March) for our skin to be able to make vitamin D. Any deficit needs to be made up from food sources (including fortified foods) and supplements.

Wouldn’t be too alarmed about Cornwall, +2 cases compared to the previous week. Cases per/100k figure about half the England rate. It’s still fairly quiet here and feels safe - tiny numbers (64 cases) so percentage increase is easily inflated by small changes.

Well, JVB, a fortnight almost to the minute since your second vaccination was due, so, if all went well, you should be a right hive of good bugsies
