Okay, assuming the supply of vaccine is adequate.

The current vaccines will for the most part prevent people getting seriously ill, although that is not guaranteed. They do not guarantee that you will not catch the virus, nor do they guarantee that you will not spread it if you do get infected, noticeably or asymptomatically.

Two young teachers here, both on maternity leave have had their jabs some weeks ago. Seems there is no national guide line..

Because some teachers have had their jabs, it does not necessarily follow that they were given the vax because they are teachers.

There is definitely a list in England but there does seem to be quite a lot of people that think they deserve to jump the queue.

FYI in Wales the list is:

People living in a care home for older adults and their staff carers
All those 80 years of age and older and frontline health and social care workers
All those 75 years of age and over
All those 70 years of age and over and people who are extremely clinically vulnerable (also known as the “shielding” group) – people in this group will previously have received a letter from the Chief Medical Officer advising them to shield
All those 65 years of age and over
All individuals aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions, which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality.
All those 60 years of age and over
All those 55 years of age and over
All those 50 years of age and over

They must have had their babies? as pregnant woman are not eligible for the vacine i thoughtsurprised

I understand? That with the phizer  vacine some are on a list to be called at short notice ,for a First or second dose because once it has been taken out of the freezer it has to be used,  ,where as the OAS vacine it is not the case as long as it is refrigerated

Are you sure it has been offered to anyone who is pregnant, I don't think safety issues have been resolved yet.

Not all councils are offering it to SEND staff and workers yet.

The CMO (England) has said that it can be offered to pregnant women who may be deemed to be at higher risk.

I'm not sure how councils can be overriding the NHS protocols.  As far as I'm aware they simply don't have the authority.

Maybe North and East Hertfordshire NHS are ahead and have the stocks, there are numerous vacine centres in this area surprised

They may be but it is not the councils that decide priority.  In fact they should not be involved.  Most centres have reserve lists.  People that can be called at very short notice to absorb unused end of days stocks that would otherwise go to waste because of no shows.  Fortunately not much goes into this category.

If I see them again I will ask ,what about the police and fire service who were also being given the OAZ vax?

I'm aware of some police getting theirs by being available at the end of the day on short notice.

Quite a few fire service people are volunteering at vacs centres and as such are classed as frontline NHS worker so become eligible that way.

It would be interesting to know why your daughter had hers.

I would not think the police who were at the same centre as the school teachers were having them late,  unless the centre closed at lunchtimeundecided

I have no problems with Police, Fire Crew, Special needs teachers or teachers themselves getting the jab.

I wouldn't like their jobs dealing with Joe Bloggs. Good luck to them.

Yes that's correct, my niece's son works in Specsavers and had his over a month ago, he is 23 and no health issues. His Mum works in a GP practice as a receptionist and had hers the same week, although he got his first.

I'm pretty sure most opticians have had the jab same as dentists and their staff.

We were told right back in early January that our Opticians had submitted their staff details to the relevant people for vaccination and all were done in the first tranche. Off there tomorrow ☺️

Our son and his wife who both work with severely disabled children have had their first injections, and they both are under 50. That's in the West Midlands.

The care workers who come to our next door neighbour had their jab a  couple of weeks ago, and they are not in the first 4 tranches by age.

That's really good to hear Nellie, I hope our daughter gets a vaccine soon so they are all a lot safer. She normally works with her little group as a community project and often has to collect one or two of them and take them home too.

Presumably all classed as frontline NHS workers.  Makes sense.

Our son's jab was sanctioned by his LEA as he teaches at a school for severely handicapped children, whereas the DIL came under the NHS system as she is a nurse/carer for a disabled boy.

On well, today's the day! Off to get my jab soon.. It's a 40 mile round trip, I will have to visit a filling station for the first time since well before Christmas. So much to remember, what side is the filler cap, what happens when I put the car in 5th gear, etc. Wish me luck folks ( not the jab, got no worries on that score).
