The unknown threat at the time was a variant creeping through the SE. At some point we'll hopefully be able to eat out again. I think the scheme helped a lot of businesses, the places I saw offering it were well organised. Perhaps we won't need such an incentive again?

"BTW - Now that WHO has OK'd OAZ, has agreed with a 12 week period for the second vaccine and agreed that it is safe to give to over 65's, has anyone seen an apology from "Napoleon Bonaparte II" yet? I seemed to have missed it."

not much chance of that, got bigger problems now, Many demonstrations in France at the weekend for "FREXIT"undecided, not yet burning vehicles, which the French are good at, but it will gain momentum.

We used the eat out scheme twice in the same place. Extremely well organised and of course all outside in the really hot weather. We only got discount once as it didn't apply on Sunday's. Whilst out we did buy take out or sit out drinks and cakes from little local places.

I do hope we don't need too many incentives, we who have been lucky enough to have fixed incomes over the duration haven't had much to spend it on. Time to help out the economy and those generally affected by a drop in income. That doesn't necessarily mean we need to be in crowded places 😀. Those planning self contained trips can help out by not taking everything with them and using smaller outlets for shopping etc. Which would be no different to shopping locally armed with a mask and hand gel - plus your 2m pole for keeping folk at bay. I'm seriously looking at a yoke 😂

prior to 2020 we ate out for lunch once a week when at home. Not been out for a meal since mid Feb and no plans to do so for the foreseeable future. It is now a fortnightly takeaway

"As for leaving it to the government and their advisors,I take it this means you are in favour of 'Eat Out To Help Out 2' which has just been mentioned on Radio 2 as a way of getting things moving in April?"

I posted the above in response to a comment that we should leave it to HMG to decide when we are eased out of lockdown.

Whilst I can agree with the sentiment, about easing restrictions, I would rather the money, that we are all going to have to pay back, went to help the millions of people that have fallen through the various schemes and had little or, in most cases, not help at all.

To rub salt into the wound money intended to help 'local' business, Cornwall in my case, has gone to owners who are not local and had paid no rates for years-the qualification for receiving help-as they were rated but a scheme to encourage them meant they did not actually pay anything.

Tricky one this. I understand completely, however I use a lot of smaller independent shops local to where i live all year round and wouldn't want to see them go out of business so i would probably want to support them and take provisions with me.

Purely from a social distancing point of view, shops in holiday areas are likely to be more crowded as they will be used by locals plus the influx of visitors.

They may get a greater foot fall but properly managed there is no reason for them to be more crowded.

... and therein lies the problem as has been shown in many shops and stores.

Did a local shop and then on for my jab. Parked in the car park and listened to the radio until 11.21 and then walked across the car park to the health centre. Back in the car by 11.26. I did berate the person giving the injection for not telling me when she had actually stuck the needle in! wink

I was like that but I could feel it later, not too bad though. Glad to hear you've got yours done! smile

If we manage to get away at some point I'll do what we did last year and stock up with food, I don't intend to use any of the large supermarkets when away (I rarely do) and will just use small local shops if needed. Our community shop is a bit of a pain to use, queuing up outside in miserable weather but they have stuck to two people only for shopping and one for the PO (separate areas.)

JillwithaJay - having seen that report from Blackburn Cathedral I sympathise with you, you must have been frozen to the bone.  Hopefully it'll be a nice sunny day when you have to go back for the 2nd one at the end of April.

TG - yes, I was very pleased to get it, OH had it 10 days ago, being over 70; he did ask when he was there whether I could get mine at the same time, but the answer was "no"; that seems to vary as well, I've heard of a few people whose partner/spouse has been vaccinated at the same time.

WN - I'm very pleased that you were able to get the vaccine, after all that uncertainty; so both our 2nd ones are on the 2nd of May.  And who knows, you may have resolved your dispute with SP by then as well wink

At least it'll be lighter and, hopefully, a tad warmer.  All being well we come back from a week in the caravan the morning of our second jab.

So now both had our jab this morning at the Royal Cornwall Showground.

Whilst there were not crowds there the set up was very organised and efficient, got a card with the details on of this and second jab plus a sticker-"to show your friends"!

Managed an average of 8 jabs per hours today over a short shift.  A minute amount in the grand scheme but every little helps.  Apologies to Tesco laughing.

After my jab yesterday I made a stove top chicken casserole. Fell asleep for nearly an hour and returned to the kitchen just in time to stop it catching. Developed a headache later in the day. Went to bed at 9pm and slept for 12.5 hours until 9.30 this morning. I could happily return to bed laughing

I'm not sure how they are managing that.  A few police have tried here but have been turned away unless they meet the overall criteria.

Having a reaction is considered a good sign as it shows that your immune system is reacting as it should.  Enjoy winklaughing.

I wish our teacher daughter and her fellow teachers could be vaccinated before school returns. Our daughter also works with adults with learning disabilities and I think they are particularly vulnerable. At present, as well as her usual school work she's doing a fortnightly delivery of art work to their homes, she says they love having this delivery (and their parents too!) but it's all at a safe distance just now. Once they all start mixing again it will be a different matter. I expect some of the older qualifying teachers will be having the vaccination just now but not the younger ones.

It's odd that it's not the same everywhere. My niece teaches special needs, the school goes right through the age range, but is currently on maternity leave was jabbed last Saturday as Essex County County have decided they are a priority. Not heard of other teachers or frontline being prioritised.

EasyT I hope your reaction passes quickly, I fear OH may have had similar, but these days it's hard to tell......... he had Pfizer what about you?

My body doesn't like visitors 🙁 so will be interesting to see after tomorrow. Not had a jab for 5 years, don't recall terrible reaction so fingers crossed.

Good luck with your jab B2, better to have it and put up with a few side effects (but hopefully not!)

Unusually I bought some ready made ones on Monday whilst shopping just in case. So that will suffice.

The NHS has expressed the wish to get the number of vaccination per day up to one million per day.  The best achieved so far has been about 600k.  I have no doubt the new ambition will be achieved but I am also  wondering how many people (medical professionals of all sorts and volunteers of all sorts) such an undertaking will take per day.

I thought the supply of vaccine was the limiting factor on the number of doses administered at the moment.
