We've not been given the second date. According to a local reliable source, they are only given short notice when vaccines are due to arrive. Elsewhere, I have heard that scheduled vaccines have had to be cancelled, so, reading between the lines, I'm guessing that is why our local practice have made this decision, perhaps??

As she who should know has just said "It's all psychosomatic". Tell someone they are going to get a reaction and nine times out of ten they will.
Now a fully approved jabber (no more practicing with the Turkey baster). Only one casualty so far. Number 11 a massive chap built like a Welsh prop forward (retired). He saw me reach for the syringe and passed out. Jabber in Chief said give it to him whilst he was out - problem solved. Brought him round and sent him off for 15 minutes recovery.
Should reach 15m today. What an achievement.

went into village this morning to buy my OH some flowers, well it is Valentines day
, local pharmacy was open doing covid vaccines but very quiet, popped my head in door to say hello to friend who was officiating, and asked if all was going ok, and she said "no some selfish people have not turned up, but fortunately they are using the Oxford vaccine so they should not have to throw any unused away", bet if i had asked i could probably have had my second jab, but felt a bit guilty
got appointment for 23rd April so no big shakes.0 -

Well, as someone who has never had a reaction in my life, and i usually have half a dozen needles of various sorts stuck in me in a normal year all of them bearing the threat of reactions, all I can say is What a load of baloney.

Erm, I’m struggling with that LLM, are you actually saying you’ve given jabs?, I read that only medical practitioners were allowed. Even retired folk had to be given a check out.

That's a good question, TG. I had the pfizer jab yesterday so I just googled your question - the first result came up saying doctors suggested the gap should be halved (to 6 weeks) and the second said researchers agreed 12 weeks was absolutely fine!
So I'm going to leave it to the health professionals and just sit back and wait till I'm called for the second dose.

Me too, M, on the basis that one jab is better than none and we'll all maybe need a tweaked dose later on anyway.

Went online last night on the NHS website and booked for this afternoon. I got the AZ one; very impressed, it ran like clockwork. It was in the sportshall of a university, so I was slightly apprehensive at the thought of there possibly being lots of people. I remember seeing the report of those queues at Blackburn Cathedral a couple of weeks ago on our local news. People were waiting and queuing for up to 3 hours there.
But there were only about 8 people waiting once I got into the hall itself. It was very quick, had the jab 10 minutes before my appointment time!
The second one is booked for 2 May, so definitely light at the end of a very long dark tunnel.

We were amongst the poor frozen folks queueing outside Blackburn Cathedral a couple of weeks ago and will have to return for a second vaccination near the end of April, by which time we sincerely hope that they've got their ducks in a row.
Good to hear that other places are better organised.

Yes I've seen both reports its very confusing as to who you believe.
I've noticed that Israel think we are right in extending the period between, they are leading the way at the moment in how many they have vaccinated with both doses.

Ours was like clockwork. No queue, in at a rear door, ID checks done, walk to a jabbing station, more ID and some precautionary questions, sleeve up, quick jab (didn’t feel a thing), sleeve down, time sticker on, sit in a sanitised chair for 15 minutes. Out by another door. Three days on, not a single side effect, me or sibling. We had Pfizer. Whole thing took around 17 minutes, including the 15 minute sit down.
We all await contact from our GP for our second jab. All had Pfizer, three of us no symptoms whatsoever, not even an aching jab site. OH had a bit of an ache in his arm, for a day, but that was it.

Good news Ina. I got an appointment for 11 weeks as well, so the 2nd.May it is.
Didn't have to show any ID. Must have an honest face.
BTW - Now that WHO has OK'd OAZ, has agreed with a 12 week period for the second vaccine and agreed that it is safe to give to over 65's, has anyone seen an apology from "Napoleon Bonaparte II" yet? I seemed to have missed it.

I assume that Honda showroom was in West Street Crewe , David, if so you were only a 5 minute walk from Morrisons Supermkt where you could have had a Socially distanced cuppa or breakfast if you had to park up
!! but I'm sure I'm talking to the knowledgeable on this subject !!Also you were about 100 yards from my doctors surgery as well

Are you sure?I know a volunteer vaccinator who has a degree in mathematics. Not the most practical of my acquaintances though.
