Apparently the Moderna vaccine is ten times the price of the Oxford/AZ vaccine so perhaps they are not overly bothered? There is also a Johnson and Johnson vaccine coming soon but don't know about the price on that one.

Deep joy. I just found out I am not Group 8, but group 7. 🥳

That's good news M. OHs Mum got hers a few days ago we were informed today. Last time we spoke to the home they said they had been bumped to Feb as they had some Covid cases and they won't vaccinate for at least 28 days have passed. Must have been another change.

Looking on the Bloomberg analysis of vaccine doses given world wide, as of 7th, UK has given 1,489,344 doses which represents 2.23 per 100 people, and making us 4th behind Israel, UAE and Bahrain in percentage of population terms.

Moderna! Presumably using the Ferrari pricing criteria.

My sister rang yesterday to say she had the second of her Pfizer vaccines yesterday so that’s her sorted.
Ours (Wigan Borough which includes Leigh, my hometown) are being done in two sports centres. Yesterday the Leigh Centre did 1150 vacinations so if the Wigan one did the same that’s a big. It’s out of the 14000 over 80s in the borough.

For anybody with an interest (hypothetical of course) in jumping the vaccine queue, today’s middle man rate is £5000, all done in the best possible taste by those bastions of ethical & compassionate business practice - propery developers! Watch out for them at Sports Direct soon and free vax with every happy meal at McDonalds.

I think the first step will be schools back with some sort of testing. Next will be a return to the original tier system. Will probable be a long time before all restrictions are lifted but I’m hoping reopening camp sites will be in the first tranche.

I'm not so sure. Being vaccinated won’t necessarily prevent those people spreading the disease to the unvaccinated so a delay of some sort will be needed. I read somewhere - can’t remember where or who wrote it - that restrictions could be needed for a considerable time following completion of the vax program.😕

Ok right, sorry.
I assume when the r number is below a certain point, when a certain high percentage of the most venerable people have been vaccinated, or most of a set age limit, when infections fall below a certain level per thousand?

+1, I read that the vax won’t stop folk getting the virus it’s just that it won’t be a killer as is proving to be in a lot of folk Worldwide🙁. After a tipping point we may have a semblance of normality, it won’t be a 2019 normality for sure. Plus some will continue to don masks akin to other countries.

I agree, I wasn’t advocating an early return to ‘normality’, btw. I think there will be something of a clamor to get back to normal by folks and the economic pressures will become more and more intense. I just hope that gov holds fast and does the right thing (🤞)

That's what I said, anyway I'm glad you think I can someway get it before hand somehow but even I have limits
