Does the latest announcements from the Welsh Government alter the position with regard to caravan sites, both club ones and CLs, being open, either for residents of Wales or for those living in the rest if the UK?

At the moment campsites are only open to Welsh residents. The FM did say travelling arrangements are under consideration.

Yes I heard that, but just wondered if there had been added restrictions to camp sites similar to those to be imposed on pubs etc.

As far as I'm aware the only additional guidelines relate to any campsite that has a Pub or serves alcohol. They would have to follow the same rules as Pubs and Restaurants in general. No additional rules but visitors still restricted as mentioned.

I didn't see the FMs announcement today but I believe he indicated he would be looking at cross border issues this week. He'll have to lift them for Christmas anyway.

My elderly neighbours, are Welsh, they are struggling but refuse much of the help offered. No-one from their two families in Wales has seen them for months I'm hoping someone will come to see them soon, I don't think phone calls show the real picture.

If it's only for the Xmas period it will be no good for us as we should be on a CL in Cheshire then, fingers crossed.

Doubt that he will lift the ban on crossing borders anytime soon. Pubs in wales to stop serving by 5pm and no beer th obe sold. In England close later and sell beer.

Can you not contact your local Council brue? Anonymously as far as they are concerned? Our Council has a helpline to report anyone struggling, and sometimes someone they don’t know might spot signs they need help, and they just might accept it more. It’s very hard, but it might be for the best. I have been keeping an eye on a couple of elderly residents who live alone, not far from us. Seen carers now going into and out of one, and helped organise gardeners for other, who is more able to cope.

Thanks TDA, it's good that you've helped your neighbours. I have done quite a few things on behalf of our neighbours but they refuse all help beyond me doing some shopping and someone else doing gardening occasionally. Sadly it will take an emergency to shift the situation. I'm just hoping someone from their family will visit asap! Covid has certainly not helped this situation and many others which are no doubt similar. I feel sure that something like this permits a crossing from Wales?

Apologies, I've taken this away from the main reason for the thread.

No doubt further updates from Wales to come.

Disappointed and surprised to hear that after someone from Tier 4 (Scotland) posted on a caravan & Motorhome facebook group that they had cancelled their trip to Melrose Gibson site over Xmas that you have accepted a replacement booking from someone else in Tier 4. Surely you should be checking home address tier level. As far as I was aware the relaxation of travel restrictions was only to allow families to get together over the period, which is not the case in this particular case as the person had been looking for recommendations for sites in any location that were open. I am sure the locals in Melrose won't be too amused.

Well, surprised that those from tier one and two are welcomed into Wales now and Vice versa. So if I want a pint I can grab a bus into Chester. I don't by the way.

Looks like I may well get my annual walk up Snowdon this year after all. Just the weather and my own fitness to stop me now.

Meanwhile, Italy prepares for Christmas. A different approach.

Travel between Italy’s regions will be prohibited from December 21 through January 6, with people barred from travelling outside their own towns on December 25, 26 and January 1.

The decree includes the “strong recommendation” to avoid hosting those who do not live together.

Other regulations set to be signed later on Thursday are expected to mandate a 10-day quarantine for those arriving in Italy from foreign countries, beginning on December 20.

The move is in part designed to prevent Italians from travelling to ski slopes that are still open in neighbouring EU countries.

The government is expected to retain a colour-coded risk-based system that imposes varying levels of anti-coronavirus restrictions on different regions.

Bars and restaurants are expected to remain closed in regions in red or orange zones. A current 6pm closure in yellow zones may remain, as may a nationwide 10pm curfew.

In yellow zones, where eateries are open but required to shut at 6pm, the government is debating whether to allow restaurants to serve lunch on Christmas Day and December 26.

Ski slopes are expected to be off-limits, as well as cruises.

Interesting that the C&CC have stated (on their Web site) that they are allowed to open their sites in Tier 3 for the Xmas period, and are doing so, from 22nd Dec through to 28th Dec with your support bubble. Restriction is that you can only arrive on the 22nd and must leave by or on the 28th. Any info forthcoming from this club..

GTP look on late availability and it shows tier 3 sites are open for the period you mentioned.

Anyone with bookings on Welsh CAMC sites or CLs should note that Wales will be going into a National Lockdown from 28th.December. This will include the closing of all holiday accommodation unless in exceptional circumstances.

You may need to alter your plans.

Indeed, the full details remain to be published but the FM announced that Wales will enter the new highest level of restrictions (Level 4) after Christmas (Dec 28th) this will be nation wide . Some restrictions come on the 24th (non essential retail), hospitality at 6.00pm Christmas day, then full lockdown on 28th. This is likely to be even stricter than the first lockdown in March. It will include widespread travel restrictions, and last for an indefinite period in the first instance. Let's hope we can welcome members to our lovely sites in Wales asap. Hope everyone has a safe Christmas where ever you are in UK.

The latest that I read on BBC news says Wales is in tier 4 (lockdown) from midnight but we can meet on Christmas day only. There may be more of course.

We have moved from tier two to tier four in a week! Not sure how much room the Club have to manoeuvre whether it wouldn't be easier close to close the network down until after new year? I appreciate that will upset a lot of people but in the current circumstances I would have thought it far better for people to stay at home as this mutated virus seems to be spreading far quicker and whilst its mainly restricted to the southern half of the country there is no guarantee that it won't work its way north?

I presume all sites in tier 4 will have to close David and no visitors to sites from tier 4 elsewhere either.
