Reply from HQ regarding sites in Wales.Under no circumstances should any member living in England attempt to book any of these sites! Sites will only accept those members living in Wales. As we are aware the Welsh Gov have agreed to lift their lockdown from Monday 9th November.
Thank you for your email.
We will be following the guidance of the Welsh government, once they announce the end of lock down in Wales which we are expecting to be Monday 09th November then our campsites will be able to re open.
There will be some sites that unfortunately will not re open for the rest of the season.
The sites that we hope can re open on the 9th November is Breacon Beacon, Lady Margaret's Park, Pembrey Country Park and Tredegar House.
As you can appreciate we do have to wait on the Welsh government to confirm the end of their lock down.0 -
Quite right too, however, how will this be undertaken? If postcodes are used, then there are large parts of North East Wales with English (Chester) PC's. Similarly Powys (Shrewsbury). It also works the other way with communities in Shropshire, Hereford and Gloucester having Welsh PC's.

With it seems by the FM and sidekicks Idea of a Welsh lockdown not seeming to have worked
It would now make for them to fall in line with England and extend the lockdown or at the least make all of Wales a Tier three to try again where the previos "Idea?" seems to not have worked

I wonder how many visitors, sites like Lady Margaret's Park, which after all is only a couple of hundred yards away from the English border, will get if they only allow the members from Wales to visit. Will it be worthwhile opening, especially at this time of the year?

I see that Wee Nicky has introduced some new regulations and restrictions for those north of the border.
The one that caught my eye from a touring point of view was the mention of no non essential travel to other parts of the UK, so no escaping across to Wales to enjoy a spot of winter touring.
I didn't see any mention, admittedly in my short look, as to whether sites in low tiered areas can remind open if they so wish. Can they?

Wherenext indeed? Our part of Yorkshire was in Tier 3 pre-Lockdown2,so that scuppered travel plans.Post Lockdown2 or Extended (?)Lockdown 2 we may well find ourselves back in Tier 3.I cannot see us being able to get off in our MH in the foreseeable Future.Anyone out there with a fully functioning crystal ball and able to advise? Not holding my breath until the situation is clarified.

Following the latest UK Government announcement regarding the end of the lockdown and a return to a regional tier structure in England, we are very pleased to advise that the majority of our Club campsites in England which would normally be open at this time of year will be reopening for stays from Wednesday 2 December.
We know many of you were disappointed to be unable to enjoy your planned stays during November and hope this latest news will be very much welcomed.
Club campsites open

Rowena
Should there not be a note advising against travel to a tier 2 site from tier 3? Or have I missed it.
0 -
If you missed it so did I. Read the email several times. Previously the club made it clear that those in tier 3 should not book a lower tier site. As far I am aware the government guidance is still not to travel unless for work / exceptional circumstance.

Rowena, can you please check the status of Carnon Downs AS?
It's listed as closed until the Govt says it can open but it's in Cornwall which is Tier 1.

According to Government guidence campsites should be closed in Tiers 2 and 3.
Quotes from Tier 2 Guidence
Meeting friends and family
You should stay at home except for specific reasons including education, work (if it can't be done from home), exercise, medical needs, food and other essential shopping and to provide care.
Leisure Time
Hotels, hostels, guest houses and campsites are closed except in certain circumstances (such as where they are someone's main residence, or where it is essential to stay there for work purposes).
Why on earth anyone wants to go away in the current climate is beyond me.

Looking directly at the Government web site, it looks like the above has been ammended. My earlier statement came from the latest BBC news on restrictions!
The relevent paras for Tier 2 state;
You can continue to travel to venues or amenities which are open, but should aim to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible
if you live in a tier 2 area, you must continue to follow tier 2 rules when you travel to a tier 1 area. Avoid travel to or overnight stays in tier 3 areas other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities. You can travel through a tier 3 area as a part of a longer journey.
I still standby my last sentance and will not be going anywhere.

Hi Peedee, You ask why on earth anyone would want to go away in the current climate. In my case, now that I know some campsites are open and it will be within the law to travel to them to stay, I have decided to book a short stay at Broadway club site. My reason for doing so is so that I can get some exercise in a different part of the country to where I live. I can't think of anything better than walking in the Cotswolds on a cold frosty morning. I will be very aware of the dangers about me and using my own facilities. I don't consider it will be anymore dangerous than staying at home. I respect your decision not to want to go away, but I also understand those who wish to take a short break.

We would also have considered it if we had ended up in tier 2, rather than 3. MH is already full of fuel, for 3 /4 days we would have taken all our food and been totally self contained. Walked in some different countryside. OK, I suppose we could break down or have a road accident which would increase risks to others. Although that could happen near home when I take it for its monthly run round.

We're in tier 2, we know our local patch so are more aware of local outbreaks and increases specific to a place. I would like to think we could travel locally in the SW tiers 1 & 2 but I think it will be days out in the M/H rather than longer stays until infection rates really start to drop. I see SW sites are busy for the New Year.

Living in MK who wouldnt have bookings elsewhere although we are in tier 2 our virus infections are very low so will be staying on home turf , where we know just where to go and where not, have dodged 2 bullets thus far so why tempt fate by travelling around.

I agree, but then as we live in semi rural area of the "rolling hills of Hertfordshire" we just need somewhere flat for OH to walk ,so we are off to the flat fens
Ps it will be hard work on my legs for a few days when we get back home

I know Hertfordshire very well, lived in Tring for many years, MIL still lives there and my OH, who is her official carer visits everyother week staying for approx 5-7 days per stay depending on circumstances.
As said before, we are lucky living where we live and having the caravan on a hardstanding next to bungalow, if sun shining often sit in front to read the newspaper and listen to radio.
