Correct me if I'm wrong, Brue, but I think the tiered rules mean that I can visit a pub in Cornwall and order my pint to drink at a table, whereas if you visit you'll need to still follow T2 rules so can only order your pint if it's accompanied by pasty and chips🤔🤷♂️🙂

Several reasons to stay here - we are in Tier One and nowhere else is, the village pub will be open, the wood burning stove and a stack of ash logs are too heavy to take away.

While I can understand those who live in closely built up areas wanting to get into the countryside, I would find just being able to take a walk too constraining even if it was in a scenic area. I also like to visit pubs and eat out and visit other indoor attractions.
On my last trip in September I found I was not relaxed enough to enjoy it even though the restrictions were not that great. It would be even worse currently and with the strong likelyhood of a vacine on the horizon, I can wait the winter months out.

We love winter caravanning but I can't understand why anyone wants to go away now given the current pandemic. If you're in Tier 2 or 3 the advice is not to travel outside of those areas.
Yes we'd all like a change of scenery. I've been working from home since 17 March and going stir crazy staring at the same four walls but at least I'm safe. All our Christmas shopping for gifts has been done online and the only place either me or my wife goes to is the supermarket. Only one of us goes. Again, I can't see why people have to go in families just to get food, especially older people who are more vulnerable.
I take the dog to the local park so she can have a run. The best advice is stay at home and stay safe.

Whilst we wouldn't go away at this time of year unless the forecast was for dry weather, there is nothing nicer than exploring new villages and their surroundings. The Alde heated caravan is warmer than our house!
It is also much easier to drag yourself away from your PC when you have pastures new to explore, even though we live in a great area for local walks direct from the house.

Tier 3 is the one most affected regarding travel. The other tiers have more flexibility, we will see venues opening up so there will be more to see and do if you're on a break. Whether it's a good idea remains to be seen. We're so near the end goal of vaccines next year personally I'd prefer to wait even though it's a tough call.

I'm not sure that's quite correct is it? Certainly if you, like us, are in a tier 2 area there is no official advice not to travel to a lower tier area, but you are subject to the rules of your home tier whilst away. So when we go to Cornwall, we will not be able to mix indoors with any of our friends there, though they will be able to themselves.
Which does make the question asked on radio 4's Today programme this morning, about whether away football fans would be allowed in grounds (inclusing those potentially coming from tier 3 areas) rather curious - even more son thar the reply was that they were negotiating with the government about this - what's to negotiate?

Regarding Christmas, I do find it curious that, with numbers apparently starting to flatten or reduce, and with the prospect of a vaccine on the near horizon, it is suddenly considered worth risking allowing big family meet ups for the 5 days. I accept that many, many families will be longing to do this, but wasn't it said not long ago that households mixing indoors was one of the prime drivers behind the spread of the virus? Surely it would be worth sacrificing this one period for the sake of the long term good?

Although rural and cases in our direct area not too high, I welcome Tier 3.
Anything that will curtail shopping, pubbing and mixing is most welcome, just a shame Xmas is not cancelled and moved to a more appropriate date and time next year, where get togethers and family meals can be had in perhaps a more safer environment.

Govenments (any?) is in a bit of a cleft stick when it comes to trying to balance the problems this virus has inflicted on the world, when it comes to trying to keep those that still think it "does not apply to me"safe from themselves

That was pretty much our view as well. Last year in December we spent a few days at Bladon Chains. We were blessed with wonderful, if cold, weather for the three days we stayed there. It was nice to visit the House and grounds, Woodstock and we even walked down to Churchill's grave having a coffee on the way back in the local pub. If we were to do the same this year half of what we did the year before would be missing. So what is the point? We are perfectly comfortable where we live as we have many scenic options for walks from our house.

They don't actually mention any restrictions in the email though. Which was sent to me living in a tier 3 area, saying sites in other tiers would be open from the 2nd.
Also the following statement, in the email, just mentions booking something else in a lower area, if your tier 3 venue has been cancelled. Nothing about not doing it if you are now in tier 3.
"These new restrictions in England will initially be in place for two weeks, so if you are due to stay at these campsites between Wednesday 2 and Wednesday 16 December, we would very much appreciate your help and support in amending or cancelling your booking(s) online through our website or App. Please check our website for the latest campsite information to find alternative open campsites."

The Club has the home address of each Member. If a Member from Tier 3 tries to book into YRP, or YBG, it will flag up their home address. From there, it is likely to be blocked. The only exception previously was where someone had been touring and hadn’t been at home prior to the Tiers being introduced/amended. That won’t apply in England from 2nd December, as all areas have been in lockdown.
Perfectly happy here to stay in Tier 3, there will be more shops open for those desperate to get into them, but it’s reduced our rates drastically. It’s legislation for the covidiots, but needs must.
Christmas? Get ready for the third wave, it will go pear shaped because self control is waning on a larger scale.

We're not heading to NZ this year, can't think why! But you'd have a good chance to get your wish if we were. Beast from the east, once if not twice, our daughters wedding Febrauary 2013 she thanked the UK guests for not bringing the weather! We've been the last flight out of Heathrow on other ocassions too due to weather 🤣🤣🤣
I'm feeling very mixed about the 5 day window. I think we will get to see son and DIL plus their bubble and I know we'll be as safe as we can be, cos none of us mix! I wish I thought others would be as strict, but I know from long distance friends there's rumblings, one in tier 3 visiting London, cos they're bubbled 🤔😯 and include a hotel stay for themselves. I wouldn't have expected that from them!
Other festivals have been curtailed this year, one on the eve! I fear this is going to undo any good achieved by lockdown and tiers and January plus is going to be worse than now 😢
