Watch out for the flooded pitches...some are coned off...others not. We woke up to 3" of standing water one morning a couple of weeks ago. Warden came and offered us another pitch...said he knew the pitch 'slightly' held water at the rear end..but not like we had...I understand from the warden it is something to do with he water table around that area....otherwise enjoy Chester ...

Thank you all for your supportive replies. We're hoping that the wardens will have been able to sort out the issue after we left St Mawes but feel it's grossly unfair of visitors to put the wardens in that position when they're already stretched with having to follow the Covid regulations. Unfortunately some people do have to be told for safety reasons when they refuse to follow the rules which are there to save lives! Maybe the people involved were non-members.

We take your point about Broadway and will tentatively keep our booking for Christmas as we can always leave early if we do feel unsafe there for any reason. Thank you.

UPDATE: A new 5-Tier system being put into place in Scotland from 6am on 2nd November. At this stage, all but 4 of our Scottish sites will naturally close for the end of the season on 2 November.

Those 4 sites remaining open (with restrictions) are:

    Edinburgh - Level 3
    Strathclyde - Level 3
Melrose Gibson Park - Level 2
    Stonehaven - Level 2

Those sites in Level 2 will operate as normal (albeit not accepting arrivals form Members who reside in either Wales, Tier 3 areas within England or Level 3 areas within Scotland).

Those sites in Level 3 will close to all members who do not live within the relevant local authority area, but will remain open for those who do live within the same area.

The Scottish Government will be doing weekly reviews on the situation, so please refer to the Government website for the most up to date information.

The Club's web page is up to date with the latest campsite information. Please check back regularly and before travelling.

    All the best,

    Hannah

Following the UK Government announcement which will place the whole of England into a countrywide lockdown, it is likely that the Club will have to temporarily close its network of campsites in England from 6pm on Wednesday 4 November until the Government advises that we are able to reopen them (currently forecast for the beginning of December). The temporary closure also applies to our Certificated Locations and Affiliated Sites.

"A government statement said: "Those currently on a domestic holiday will be allowed to finish their holidays, but are still subject to the requirements in England not to go out without a reasonable excuse".

Only likely? Presumably this is because those already on site can stay until the end of their booking although there doesn't seem to be much point if you cannot go anywhere?

"Likely" because the proposals have yet to be approved by Parliament.

The Welsh campsites that would normally be open from 9th.November should be re-opening as the FM has announced that Welsh residents, subject to current lockdown restrictions, will be able to travel freely around Wales from the 9th.

So time to dig out the Site Directory for a suitable CL somewhere nearby.

I think there is a conspiracy somewhere in the making, if we were not going into lock down until next week , say Thursday 12th Nov, and you were coming out of lock down on Monday 9th Nov, we could have got the cvan out and scarpered into Wales found a nice site and stayed there for a month laughingas it is we will be confined to barracks as of Thursday 5th Nov undecided

Well, I've still got my booking for Black Knowl for next week although I don't think I'm going to get to use it. Even though we are below the national average for infections where I live, I'm not sure about the ethics of it anyway.

Even if they do reopen there won't be many Club "chairs" for us in Wales to visit. Only 3 all year sites, Tredegar House, Lady Margaret Park and Brecon Beacons plus Pembrey until just after new year. At least until December we will have them all to ourselves.

to anybody who is considering using their LV in the near future this is what i posted on the Covid Madness post

Anybody who has any doubts about the seriousness of the current situation and covid madness should watch the BBC news report on the Liverpool hospital at the forefront of trying to deal with this Pandemic, only 1 word...harrowing...

A bit of balance is needed. I bet that the vast majority of those unfortunate patients haven't contracted C19 from usage of a LV.

There are plenty of intelligent users of LVs out there who know and obey the regs.

As per Jill's post above, we have further communication for our members regarding the UK Government announcement. Please see below:

Following my previous post, although the restrictions are subject to final confirmation from the UK Parliament on Wednesday 4 November, we have taken the decision to cancel all member bookings on campsites in England from Thursday 5 November to Wednesday 2 December 2020 and no new bookings for stays during this period will be taken. We would very much appreciate your help and support and would be grateful if you could cancel your individual bookings online through our website or App.

We know this will be disappointing for those of you who were booked to go away, but the safety and wellbeing of our members, guests, staff and the communities in which our campsites operate, has always been of paramount importance to us and will continue to be so.

The website will be updated regularly, please take time to check it for the latest information and advice.

Members currently on our Sites network in England

Members currently on our Club campsites in England with a booking further than Wednesday 4 November will be asked to curtail their stay and return home.

Storage sites and Seasonal pitches in England

Members will be contacted individually to inform them of the current situation.

I've had it too. Don't quite understand the requirement to cancel our own booking. Is it because the system can't cope with a lot of "no shows" and the subsequent "naughty" Email?

Perhaps they can't be done automatically, therefore any taken off by members saves a bit of time. Cancelled ours last Friday as we had moved into tier 3.☹️

Some interesting variations going on.  As I may have a need to travel during lockdown II I contacted a number of sites.  One large private commercial, one large private CAMC affiliate, one CS, and a CL/CS type certified by another organisation.  All without exception said they would accomodate me but quite rightly pointed out that the guidance was not to travel.  I would of course have to use my own facilities.

The full list of businesses being ordered to close is yet to be published so it could go either way for those sites.

Why would C&CC members need to be told what they're doing?
