I fear that, in reality, the Wales lockdown for 17 days will achieve very little in the scheme of things.

Well, I am very annoyed at the idiots that don’t do as advised, but I am far from losing hope.

However, the last two holidays we have had in Wales (one in August, one in June) were cold and wet, so I have some sympathy😂

The first lockdown in Wales was fine from our point of view as the weather in April was brilliant. Most unseasonal. It deteriorated slowly over the next 2 months or so but we were still able to get out and about. We will for this one. No point having all that wet weather gear and not wearing it.

Very close friend has just found out a close relative is on a ventilator after catching this virus. She works in the Health sector on the frontline. Such cruelty.

If the lockdown just reinforces the message and makes people think twice then it will a good thing but I tend to lean towards ET's verdict.

I really enjoyed the weather this year and the chance to sort out the garden. I was hoping to achieve this by end of July. I probably would have done if I had not added about 24 days more work to the list that required dry weather!

I have some mobility issues and that, coupled with the arthritis in my spine meant that a lot of gardening needed to be done lying down. By the time the tips reopened at the end of May we had 60 garden sacks of rubbish, a dozen or so bundles of cuttings, plus a dozen 42 litre builders buckets.

Still have some remaining work to tackle. Probably only 15 hours but that requires 3 dry days!

Really pleased with efforts both on my part and also Fliss.

There’s no doubt when driving around that a lot of folks gardens look stunning this year ET. Sounds like you have achieved a lot, given the physical challenge as well. All the nice early weather was a huge bonus.

Same here but as i am no longer supposed to do any "heavy work"it has given me the excuse to have one of our doggy walkers who is an RHS trained gardener to come round and do all our hedges and shrubs ,she can  take all the cuttings away and dispose of  them, cool

For the most part those medics are actually volunteers / part time soldiers from the NHS.

Our gardener that mainly does the lawns plus hedge between my neighbour and us was having problems disposing of waste as all tips were closed for 9 weeks. Luckily he has a family member that has a farm and he stored much on there.

Bit of an exaggeration i feel, all companies that employ reservists know that they have to release these people for a number of given weeks per year to facilitate training, if the said compaany does not agree to pay wages to the full renumeration can be sought via the MOD.

The said company should also have been informed that in the case of emergency then the said person may be called up for active duty, I guess the RAF consider the covid19 situation to be an emergency, and again if the company is not willing to pay full salary renumeration can be sought via the MOD, so "cry off work" undecided

No idea why you consider it an exaggeration. He may well be self employed. Yes he may well get remuneration. Presumably he has had to 'cry off' doing plumbing work in general.

Compo=I like it. We have a saying here that translated goes " Two heads are better than one if only sheeps heads" Seems the dozen or so Rugby players did not have a brain cell between them. Wonder what nationality they were.

Can't argue with that Fish. They let their country down and the great game of rugby. Hope it doesn't happen again.

Bet they wont be welcome in Spain any time soon 'cos Spain has started shutting the Gates again --  a form of over night curfew cum lockdown for a few days, ( 15 or so ) but may be extended for SIX MONTHS sealed

So perhaps what we are doing in the UK is not so mad afterall, Spain introduced a State of Emergency with powers to extend until May 2021, this gives regions power to introduce lock downs etc as they see fit, Italy introducing curfews and partial lock downs, ditto for France and Germanyundecided

Possibly you may be right ,what does seem obvious is that many countries are still struggling (all uk countries included)to find ways fo keep their economies from completely collapsing , at the same time keeping us all as safe as the irresponsible portions of the populations will allowundecided

In the UK with the some of the population so used to not being , it seems , having any respect for any laws or advise to keep people safe and also  it seems much lower police/law enforcement presence on our streets than other countries ,what chance is there of even "on the spot fines"being enforced as they seem to, in other countries

It seems to m that in the case of wales that struggle has been given up on. Imposing a total lockdown makes it worse. The approach I feel should have been more targeted at the problem sectors rathe than a scattergun shut down of many sectors.

No body seems to know what they need to do  what ever govenment d the world is trying to dip their tows ,hoping it works?

It only seems that,  as reported by world news channels, you have to be "frightened" of what may be done to you if you do not  follow "instructions" in certain countries that according to their figures it is "under control"undecided

The Welsh government stated prior to the lockdown, that they were undertaking detailed planning in preparation. I can see little evidence and certainly no attempt to carry the population with them regarding acceptance.

It seems a repeat of poor decisions made in the March lockdown for which I had some sympathy.
