Sainsburys are a for profit company trading with the sole aim of making money for shareholders. The Co-op is owned by its membership and is in business for the good of the community as a whole. Like a mutual. That is why the Co-op trades in off the beaten track places to help others even though it costs them a lot to ship goods to the likes of The Outer Hebrides. Along with their ethical stance, that’s them being socially responsible.

I saw that, Brue. They could invalidate the whole of their business insurance by being complicit in the breaking of the regulations which insurers view in the same way as if they were law.

Just had an email from the CEO of Tesco in response to the latest government guidance re covid reassuring me of the steps they're taking in my local store. The one thing that stood out for me was the need for him to inform me that their stock levels are good and there was no need to buy more of my regular groceries than normal. I do hope that everybody takes notice of this and don't go stocking up causing there to be shortages of items as happened previously. I clearly remember that poor NHS worker in tears during the last lockdown, when she couldn't get the basic supplies she required due to panic buying.

TW. I also think, we did well in the summer because the virus was low in general circulation and unfortunately with it now being high in some areas the outcome could be worse this time round...mind you it's taken me a few hours to work that one out! So I feel for all those involved, the situation is moving and changing every day.

That's one of the points I made earlier, or tried to. The situation in summer when rates were falling is very different to the way things are now.🙁

I can still remember our "divi" number 47947! My parents carpeted our sitting room with a terrible swirly Co-op carpet which unbelievably was in the sitting room of a house we bought 40 years later, the same mustard colour too, obviously good strong carpet.

The other thing that seems different with the virus this time around is that the medics have more and better ways of dealing with it. I realise that some people are still getting seriously ill and deaths are occurring, but hopefully it wont be on the scale that it was before.

That’s the whole point of the restrictions, to stop it rising to that scale or beyond and why we all need to play a part by following the guidance and applying common sense. 👍🏻

Every day we are told how many Covid deaths there are. We are never told how many non Covid deaths there are. Plus we are never told how many of the people who die from Covid had other problems that they could have died from in the near future.

I shouldn't worry too much about supporting Sainsburys huskydog. I shop there and Tesco and have no problem with them making profit, in fact I have a few shares in the supermarket myself. I think you will also find that they give a fair share to local charities, something in the region of £400 million is their aim by the end of 2020.

I've come a bit late to this bun fight but admit to being perplexed as to why AD would wish to insult someone who tours in a different manner to himself. Here's me thinking it was a forum for people who tour in all ways and manners. Obviously I was mistaken.

When you are a member of the any co op society (there are several in different areas of the country) plus the cooperative society which has mostly national shops (blue and white logo) and a portion of the profits are used for local good causes,via the membeship card
Most co ops will take on the responsibility of a post office where the big supermarket chains shy away ,Tesco put in a bid to open an Express and Sainsbury a Metro but neither would keep the post office open but it is part of the co op looking to enhance communities that gave them the lease of the biulding even though both the other companies bid was higher ,we now have a two window Post office counter against original one window (bigger queue) and some post office services are available seven days with the shop opening hours

Tax deductible, of course, and darn good publicity but it’s not their raison d'être, nor is it really relevant to Covid Madness.

I think the stress is definitely getting to some more than others. Either that or a misplaced annoyance that some folks are still able to have a good time despite all the restrictions. It’s never a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket...........😉

Aye, but then some of us don't tour in the same way as AD, so we're not doing it right seemingly. At least we've made the most of the situation and have not been sitting at home brooding over what might have been.

I have a new Covid hero. (Sorry Corners😂)
Young footballer, his dignity and commitment is outstanding. He’s certainly giving some politicians a lesson in morality. And he has the experience first hand. 👏👏👏
