It remains to be seen how specific the lock down areas are. We live in Nottinghamshire and there has been some talk of the whole county, or at least surrounding council areas, being placed in the same tier as Nottingham City, which has one of the highest rates in the country, although mainly student related. We are 20 miles from the city and rates are not particularly high here. However, folk do commute to the city, I did for a while when I was working. So it's not an easy decision to make.

I thought that the using antibodies from recovered patients was to kick start the immune system of those that needed a near immediate boost to help them fight off an existing infection. Has it also been trailed in healthy people as a means of providing long term protection similar to a vaccine?

If your wife's twin tested positive for antibodies recently after being infected in March it suggests that antibodies are staying around for sometime which must be good if the response was strong.
Has anybody heard of proven cases of people getting CV19 twice or more?

‘‘Twas ever thus Rufs👍🏻. If anyone has taken even a passing interest in the Pandemic they’ll notice every country has made good decisions & not so good ones, some countries-no good decisions😢. It’s human nature to push the envelope in the name of science as well as just making daft decisions, it is what it is🤷🏻♂️. I don’t envy any countries Govt, they’re trying to keep the economy functioning without too many casualties, with a backdrop of the knowledge that even if they manage to bring covid to its knees it will never be beaten until there is an effective vaccine, potentially 6-9months away.

More volunteers are needed for the vaccine trials, particularly amongst older age groups. If we want our lives back and have a vaccine asap here's an NHS LINK to this trials programme.

‘Proven’ who knows, but I do recall such a case reported by the media in HK. The patient had few if any symptoms second time around. However, could all be nonsense and result from test failings? I’ve seen and heard enough to convince me that this Coronavirus is broadly the same as every other Coronavirus variant and provides some immunity. Even if immunity is short lived, large levels of infection over a short period of time is enough to do the job.

No, that's your spin on what I said.
I don't doubt that immunity in general exists. The uncertainty is whether such immunity is lasting. I also said those who are immune can still carry the infection.
I certainly haven't said I mistrust conventional wisdom. Please don't put words into my mouth.

It will never be beaten in any circumstances. If there ever is a vaccine there are plenty who won’t take it, encouraged by fake or exaggerated scare reports on FB etc. Herd immunity will eventually keep it in check, a third of the world population was infected with Spanish Flu before it burnt out. However, it will always be out there along with a whole host of deadly viruses that we share this planet with.

No. viruses like smallpox have been eliminated due to vaccines, there is research going on now into the old small pox vaccine to see if it has any relevance in developing a Covid vaccine. Herd immunity is not a simple answer, LINK to Lancet article " we should not put our faith in the immunity of the herd" is the end quote.

I heard of a similar case was reported in Singapore but I think it was shown to be wrong some weeks later.
Constant or regular exposure to a light level infection may be helpful in providing and boosting immunity for many. Unfortunately it would appear that heavy and prolonged exposure, i.e. taking on a large load, such as some medics have done is dangerous. That is my main reason for not sharing heavily populated enclosed spaces.

One thing is certain, prevention is better than a cure. We do know how not to catch it, or at least minimise the risk or catching it.
That's all I'm focusing on while still carrying on with a 'normal' life.

She’s alive, coping is something that has to be done. As long as you support her it will end eventually. Mental health around the globe is becoming a worry☹️

We have been away in our Motorhome since the end of August, touring North Wales,the Lakes, Western Scotland, and now back in North Wales heading home to Pembrokeshire, we have only used our own facilities and have been isolating in our Motorhome, with very little interaction with others, except with masks and social distancing, when we get home we will self isolate for 14 days.
Only problem we found was when Lady Margaret Park closed and cancelled our booking. However we managed to get onto Coed-y-Llwyn on which the whole toilet block is closed, not a problem for us. Touring IS possible, if you are careful.
However, the law is the law, even if some of it doesn't make a lot of sense.
