Please also do not use this discussion as a means of complaint. I must admit that, although we do not use club sites very often, there are some members who's idea of a dog walk is to wander around the site's roads and never going anywhere near the dog walk, allowing their dogs to do their business on the grass between pitches. This is particularly noticeable on sites like White Water Park where one has to go out of the gate to exercise one's dog.

If the dog cannot wait then you have not fed and walked at optimum times. Can be different with an older dog or one with an upset tum. If that is the case at least keep it off the grass. I have certainly seen cases of dogs being 'exercised' solely on site.

That may be an excuse for the odd one, but for others it's just sheer laziness. Some actually avoid going off site with their dogs, and there's no excuse for their actions, apart from plain ignorance of the rules.

I looked after 4 guard dogs from when I was aged about 24 to 26 and had dogs of my own from about age 30 to around 43. I cannot advise as time has dulled my memory but I did take them away on caravan holidays and they did not mess on site. If you really want to know I am sure that a current responsible dog owner can tell you more

I 'had' the knowledge. I suspect the most dog owners do as well.
From memory, for my dogs, a half hour walk about 15 mins after a meal was about right although I usually walked them longer.. Never dealt with small dogs however.
I kept tropical fish as well. Do you want to quiz me on that as well?

I will compose an email to HQ asap so hopefully in the future when you see the signs on grassed areas saying " keep dogs away from the grass" my fellow members will be able to thank / blame people with my opinion for this change. I look forward to the clubs response to this request. Maybe an online petition could assist in such a request if need be?

Tropical fish ET?, it depends how long ago you had them & how swiftly your powers of recall have dimmed. In my experience a Dog’s digestive system being very basic it operates on a-‘food in waste out’ basis👍🏻. Happy to help😊

You are used to her routine though ..... or is she used to yours?
My dogs were fed a meal twice a day and after feeding I always reckoned that they were getting rid of the previous meal. I suppose that routine has a big effect but, as I said, most dog owners know the dogs routine.
On holiday I am usually up by 6.30am and our dog would have been fed about 7.30am after I had showered and had breakfast and out for a walk before 8am so that we would be ready to go out about 9am as a family.

In my experience similar as dogs needed food in and make room to digest.
Tropical fish: I kept three tanks from around age 23 to age 42 when we started going away for 6 or 7 week stints. Where as I was happy to leave the tanks unfed for up to 2 weeks with some simple preparation much longer was not an option.
I had a brackish water tank with mainly (scatophogus, monodactylus and bumblebee gobies, a mixed species tank and a tank of mbuna (Cyclids from Lake Malawi). And yes my powers of recall have doubtless dimmed.

That's always been the case for ours too. Setters are particularly prone to bloat which can be fatal and exercise within an hour of eating is a big "no-no".
Mind you, their exercise is a tad more than a 15 minute stroll and certainly doesn't consist of circumnavigating any site!

The core membership of this club is as someone once said on here is "pensioners with dogs" and the CAMC knows it.
Now there is a thought, with so many members having dogs introduce a small charge for them to help build up the coffers again.
