David I logged on earlier to amend our booking for September but kept getting an error message.

We are still hoping to get away to France but was wanting to change the route. Will give it another go later on.

AD,  Have you chosen Santander or Bibao?. I presume you are going in August.

Hope you don't forget to book your CAMC site for the night before!  laughing

P.S  Is this site running slowly again? Our internet has been down all afternoon so it may be that.

Have finally sorted out the BF ferry smile Outbound ferry for September now moved to Inbound in October.

Eurotunnel now booked for outbound in September. Never been on tunnel before so a new experience, going this way we can decide nearer the time where we are going to head first.

Just hope everything will be ok once we get over there.

TG, glad you got sorted; I think you'll like Eurotunnel.  We've used it for years, it's a very smooth procedure and if you happen to arrive a couple of hours early, you're usually allocated the next available departure at no extra cost.  More than 2 hours early will cost you though, although I have heard of other people who haven't had to pay extra.  A few years ago we got to the French side in the afternoon before our morning booking the next day and got a crossing without having to pay anything extra.

We've decided not to go to France this September, would have liked to, but made the decision to go away "over here" instead.  Hopefully next May/June we'll be back.

We arrived one year at Folkestone end way too early but had decided to have a spot of lunch. Ticket operator told us there was a nice aire in France and popped us on the next train without having to pay extra. It was a quiet time and I suspect this only happens when they know they have spare capacity.

    Enjoy your over here experience.smile

Brittany Ferries is back on track.  "Armorique" is just leaving Roscoff outward bound for Plymouth, and returning overnight to France tonight.

That was good of him/her; same when we turned up the afternoon before, it was a quiet time.

I'm sure we'll enjoy our over here experience. The wine won't be as cheap though wink

Thinking we might initially head over to the Alsace and then work our way down to Provence and the Med. If things are ok and we feel happy about the ferry back from Caen, we will use that, if not then I will bump it to next year and book a tunnel crossing. smile

Are you doing Spain or heading to the Med coast of France? or is it to be Ill de Re for some of it.

InaD thanks, I will remember about arriving early, make sure not over 2 hours wink We have an early afternoon crossing so shouldn't be too early. OH booking a site on the other side for the night not far from Calais, then we can get away first thing in the morning.

To all those booking Aug/Sept trips are you expecting the club to start selling RP again or do you have alternative arrangements ?

We have a booking for St Malo in September, we’d originally booked for Bilbao in early June but amended the booking before the balance was due.

Hopefully, we’ll be going, but not sure yet if it’s best to book a campsite. Not because we expect anywhere to be full, but maybe we’ll need to inform the border control officers where we’ll be staying.

Will keep an eye on how things progress. 🙂

The first sailing from Plymouth to Roscoff was shown on local TV today, the ships are going to run at one third capacity.

Good to see them running again 🙂.

I was reading that until the end of August, everyone has to book a cabin or reserved seat, and that is reducing the capacity. Also they are not taking bookings from foot passengers or cyclists until September.

BTW Just love Alsace and for several years used the municipal in Eguisheim in the Autumn before heading south.

Yes, have stayed there and at Turckheim in the passed, OH wants to go to Colmar again as its been a while since we were last there.

Don't know about others but we haven't used RP for years now. We have cover through our Bank account. If for any reason that isn't going to cover us we will look at what else is available.

I'm just reporting the TV reporting as such David. smile

Speaking to my family who were due to have a big holiday as a group in France this summer (and have had to cancel) prices are going up due to the French being encouraged to take their holidays in France.

Hi All, For family reasons we are unable to make a booking at the moment but are hoping that we may be able to get away in September.

Yesterday morning I got a price for BF Plymouth to Roscoff return, out 3/9 overnight with a cabin and back 27/9 in the morning and was surprised, but pleased, to see that the discounts this route seems to enjoy are still there.

    BF price was £680

Club with a combined fare of ferry and 4 vouchers was £347.80.

If you didn't use the vouchers you are still saving £322.20 and, if you do use them, you are saving £420.

Just out of interest....can I assume you made your booking with Brittany Ferries directly?   (Having made ours via the CAMC we are unable to access Brittany Ferries account to amend our booking.)
