P&O north sea ferries

We are booked on the p&o hull-zeebrugge ferry on the 28th july. The service is currently suspended and "under review".  I was wondering if other people either a) had any more info or b) had already been contacted by them and what options for travel had been offered.

Reading other threads it seems as if other ferries are getting booked up rapidly now and I don't want to leave it too late!

Your best plan is to e.mail their customer services and ask them directly whether they can honour your booking to Zeebrugge, or whether they can transfer you to their Hull - Rotterdam route (which is running), or even switch on to one of their Dover ferries if that suits you better.

That's the problem...they won't deal with people until two weeks before you are due to travel.

All I get fobbed off with is "under review "...

I am afraid I can only gives you rumours - which say that one or both the ships on the Hull - Zeebrugge route will be withdrawn, that one has been sold already, that passenger service will not be resumed, etc.  But those are rumours.

Even on the P&O twitter feed today people are still being fobbed off as you say, and are not getting any definite answers as to whether passenger services will resume.

But because the freight services are still sailing I think the phone lines in their freight office at Hull will be open,  so perhaps you try a call tomorrow to 01482 708200 or 01482 708208 and see if anyone there will talk to you about passenger services. Alternatively ring this Club's travel desk and see what they know.

My hunch is that you might need a transfer to one of the other P&O routes but I wouldn't rush into that till you can find a bit more. Sorry not to be any more helpful.

I just happened to speak to a shore member of staff on Saturday 4th July who I saw in the supermarket queue. I use this route as my primary crossing so was interested to see what she had to say. She said that whilst the Rotterdam route was open the Belgian was still closed and they did not know when, or if, it would be reopened again. She said the office at the dock was open as usual. Hope this helps

Another rumour says the Hull -Zeebrugge service might perhaps resume at the beginning of August - the Filipino crew members have all gone home and need fresh work permits to come back. Rumours abound !
