Corona Virus Concerns

Sadly so many things don't make sense with this guidance.
You can't look after your grandchildren BUT they can go to a childminder or hub with other children of key workers who's parent maybe more exposed than you as a key worker, and you can't be certain of their cleanliness etc or be taught by someone else's grandparent.
I can have my cleaner and/or my nanny in my home - but not my isolating family. My cleaner works for others as I can't afford her all day every day 😱. Neither is happening 😂
I can, should I wish go to certain shops, more next week, no guarantee of social distancing, no mask or gloves, but they will be needed on public transport from 15 June, why not now??, yet it's taken my scavengers 10 weeks to secure me disposable gloves .- homemade masks.
I could go on but lifes to short.
We really need joined up thinking.
Apparently Korea have tracing app and contact within the hour - why aren't we buying that? Today programme government someone says ours will be world class by October 😱
Apparently anyone can have test - tell brue that she had 10 attempts, I think, none available by post possibly one with a long drive??????
It makes my head hurt.
Hopefully churches, let's face it these days social distancing should be easiest there 😉 in large churches with miniscule congregretations.
Enough........

I've not actually seen anyone asking them to be open for services in the normal sense. One Bishop stated that it could be next year before things get anywhere near normal in that regard. However, to open them for reflection / private prayer would be perfectly sensible. A one way system could be organised. Stickers put on pews or seats showing where you could sit. Similar to those in Parliament, where it seems OK for 50 to turn up and even converse, so potentially projecting the virus.🤔

The Flu vaccine is made up of several vaccines for different mutations of the Flu virus, the world community of scientists look at the which flu's (there are many) are the most prevalent for that year, the decision for which anti virus content is required for that year has to be made by March so there is enough time to produce the vaccine for the October vaccination plan (northern Hemisphere).
Sometimes they get it wrong or the flu mutates once again, on those occasions there is sadly a massive spike in fatalities.
At least Covid 19 only has 3 variations at the moment A (original) B(China most of Asia America and Pacific) and C the rest of the world, Covid 19C is the most deadly........
Although I am not a church goer I understand how it must feel not to be able to attend, So why have the churches of whichever religion pushed for open air ceremonies or hours of worship, or even doorstep visits from your padre for that personal one to one?

Influenza has always been with is in one form or another whereas COVID 19 is a new virus. This link provides an interesting comparison between the two from what we know about COVID thus far.

Technically, I would imagine, the demonstration in London is against the law. The trouble is that it is such a sensitive subject matter that the police are dammed if they intervene and dammed if they don't. Intervention could also have unforeseen consequences as we have seen in the USA and that is the last thing we need right now!
There are still lots of things we can't do, attending church being one of them. Perhaps one difference between the two is that, in the main the demonstrators are younger whereas many church goers are in the older age group so more vulnerable coming together in groups.
I don't see any reason for your post to be Deleted User as a wish to go to church is hardly discussing religion?

Thanks for that. I suppose it depends on how the Covid19 virus develops in the future and how effective any vaccine may be. There is no doubt however, that we will have to live with it in the meantime as safely as possible, as we do with the flu. It is just a matter of how quickly we come out of the partial lockdown that we are still in. We will have to emerge from it eventually and before the country is ruined by it. As some famous person once said, the cure must not be worse than the disease.

I quite agree, but I find it very worrying when I see Police Officers getting down on one knee just to placate the baying crowd.
And surely, it would have been far safer for them to have been wearing riot helmets with visors, especially in the current circumstances.

I see differently, I see intelligent empathetic Police Realising that they are equally responsible for acting with Humanity & within the Law👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I feel for all those folks who cannot take part in anything, religious, cultural, health supporting, etc... at this difficult time. Lots of individuals and groups are not doing well being isolated from the things that mean a lot to them, and I hope that compromises are quickly put into place.
I do worry about all the demonstrations worldwide amidst this awful virus, but I guess that those attending have made a choice for themselves to be there. I think for many, particularly in America, they have just had enough of the ceaseless racial discrimination that still permeates every element of their country. Folks shouldn’t be mistreated or maligned based on skin colour, religion, etc..... anywhere.☹️
Edit. I have just watched a horrific video of policing in New York last night. A 75 year old white man pushed to the ground and falling backwards. No idea how badly injured he is, but the police officer has been suspended. Even the police line stopped in horror at what happened. Simply dreadful. I do hope the man is ok. It’s on the Guardian website, but probably elsewhere as well.

Maybe we weren't quite so intelligent in my day. I just think it seemed very strange for the crowd to be instructing the Police on what they should be doing rather than the other way round. I have no problem with Police Officers showing respect for a cause, but when it is done on the demands of the crowd and possibly as a result of being intimidated, I find it worrying. It probably worked on this occasion as there were only a few violent incidents as far as I am aware. Let us hope it remains that way over the weekend.

The modern Police service In this country operates by consent, that is why the vast majority of us hold them in high regard. I personally met the ‘in my day’ Police during the 80’s & got a broken nose as a departing gift. It took me quite a while to change my attitude to them. Gladly we don’t have the American attitude to law enforcement(on display) here👍🏻

The Guy(I saw it too) is in hospital in icu TDA but expected to recover. Tellingly the Police chief posted that he staggered & fell. . .Until the video came out🤷🏻♂️

Returning to discussing Covid and our response, did anyone listen to Nicky Campbell on 5 Live this morning.
The phone in was on the effectiveness of facemasks but one of the listeners ringing in was by an English girl living in Holland. NC asked her how was the UK Goverments response to Covid seen by the people of Holland. She replied that the UK was lumped together with the USA and seen as a "laughing stock" for its approach.

The only compassionate policing that I've seen from America was in Flint Michigan right at the start of the protests. The Police Chief met the protesters, spoke with them and then instructed his men to lay down their batons and walk alongside the protesters. A peaceful protest ensued. Give that man a medal I say. Trump will be probably have him fired.

Very true. It was the same in my day. The only items I had to defend myself was a wooden truncheon, pair of handcuffs and a whistle. These days they have firearms, tasers etc. but it still operates by consent. Luckily we have never had the American attitude to law enforcement here.

The police are not there to show compassion for that type of demonstration or any other come to that, in my view very unprofessional. The problem with making such gestures is that for everyone that approves there will be an equal number that disapprove. Best they stick to what they should be doing and be neutral.

I watch Newsnight every night and I clearly am watching a different programme to you. My only objection to the programme is that they spend too much time reporting on La La Land, sorry the USA!!!
