We found the anti hunt mob swiftly deserted for the other crowd that tried to stop London working in the spring- Why- they paid nore to the hooligans to turn up there than the hunt protestor crowd did. Unemloyed, professional anarchist doing anything for cash. Same with this lot.

Well at least any upsurge in cases can now be blamed on these gatherings and not the release from lockdown. I have notice over the past week at least two of the major cities in our area are having increased cases, a third is struggling to show a decrease. There have been protest in these cities which will only increase these trends.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you deeply & sincerely for not choosing the career path of a politician, policeman or any position of power. The country’s inhabitants have dodged a bullet there👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
    PS-maybe even literally.

I also thought he went down very easily and did wonder at first if it was staged for the camera? Being elderly he may, of course, not been too steady on his feet.

And of course if these people didn’t provoke the authorities then they wouldn’t end up on the floor , a lot of those people probably don’t really know what they are shouting about but see it as an opportunity to join in ,sheep mentality

Which, thankfully, involves nothing much more than paper shuffling.

Personally, I'm finding some of the recent views expressed in this thread deeply disturbing.

When looking for positives from yesterdays demonstrations ( very few in my opinion) it is good see that the Police will no longer be getting down on their knees to placate the crowd. Dame Cressida Dick said the following

"We encourage our officers to talk to people. A  main function of the police is to engage in a positive manner with people.'

'However heartfelt something like that (kneeling) might be, I don't think it is likely to be safe'.

Asked if she 'won't take the knee during protests' even if protesters encouraged her to, Dame Cressida replied: 'I wouldn't, and I have asked my officers not to because our job is to police'.

when you see the photographs being flashed around the world today of protestors in Whithall throwing bikes at our our mounted police divisions, one horse very terrified and the rider on his/her back on the floor we should all perhaps be disturbed, They would not do this if they were tanks

In the world you describe, we would not have the freedom to be writing this.

Of course you are🙄. I take it your neighbours are feeling very safe in their beds whilst you prowl the area in full paramilitary mode slipping from shadowed area to area with your night sight helmet weighing heavy🤣🤣

People should have the right to peaceful protest, but this is just rioting and should be stopped by what ever means necessary

That is a very silly hopefully comment   Neighborhood watch members are because these days , the lack of  any real police presents , in many areas ,  are a vital extra help to reduce crime,  here in Hertfordshire where it was first introduced ,it has been proved many times,to be very effectivelaughing

It is like cctv  the people who  seem to think they are not a good idea or as some try to say are against "their human rights" are normally those who also think anything or anyone trying to keep others safe have somthing to hideundecided

Are some saying that neighbourhood watch schemes are a waste of time and we shouldn’t be looking out for the “wrong” types in our area ?

"What ever means" - do you really mean that, Husky?

Bullets, water cannon, grenades, mass gunning down  - I think not.

well you dont fix the problem my throwing bikes at mounted police, spitting in people faces, as i said earlier what fanned the embers this time was George Floyd a convicted armed robber with a string of convictions in Houston Texas as long as your arm, i agree he should not have died as he did, but the guy was a nasty peace of work.

10 police officers injured in London alone last night, and they all ran the risk of catching covid-19 due to being exposed to close contact and spitting, wouldnt have happened to guys sat in tanks.

Not disturbed, like many i have spent many weeks in isolation and now because of the actions of a mindless few, we run the risk of having to do it all over again, I dont want to do this and i am sure neither do you.

What do you recommend as the appropriate deterrent for going beyond the 85% guidelines, not aligning with the white peg, speeding on site etc etc??

I make no apologies for the unacceptable behaviour you are referring to but thank god we are not in a country where your views would be implemented.

Rufs, I am confused-is it the violent unacceptable behaviour or the coronavirus restriction breaches that you are concerned with?

I am not personally isolating, you may be, cant quite see how tanks are the answer to either issue.

I went down very easily on Friday whilst playing tennis and I can assure you there were no cameras around - thank goodness!

Little damage done but a bruised bottom.

It can be very easy to fall when moving backwards and out of balance ( and I would consider myself very athletic for a 66 year old)
