Price reduction on club sites

In the news recently it has been announced that caravan and camping sites are likely to reopen and it has been said that this form of staycation is looking like its going to be the safest, I expect that club sites will be among those who will be reopened but with social distancing in place and we will be encouraged to use our own facilities, so will the MH & CC make a concession on the price of a booking, as part of the cost is the use of all facilities on site.

I am hoping that the disabled toilets will remain open as I cannot get a chair and me inside the cubicle to shower the wife.

My money is on an interim price hike, someone has to pay for the card reader, sticky footsteps, a tape measure and a plastic desk screen.

I think it depends on what level of occupancy is decreed or decided upon. If 50%, I can't see any reduction will be forthcoming. If 100% there probably will, as I can't see them filling anywhere near all available pitches at full price. Especially at peak pricing levels.

The price will stay the same , they weren’t interested in giving members an extension on membership,so why lower the prices

they will probably argue that they more members wanting pitch’s than they have availability,so they will charge what they want

If sites open with no facilities open then I would think they would be duty bound to offer a reduction but if the facilities are open I can't see any justification for doing so. Members do have the option of buying site vouchers which will give then a 20% discount if they are that worried about the price. Having said that the way many people seem to be champing at the bit to get away as soon as campsites open it might actually be difficult to get a pitch whatever the price!!!!

Why won't the facilities open, if the club does what the guidelines say should be know different than swimming pools and sport centres, the club will have to put these into action, if an increase is required to perform the actions l have know problem as long as its not to drastic increase

It would make more sense to not open the facilities and keep the price the same after all the Club still has to cover depreciation costs. If they put the prices up just to cover extra cleaning here is one who won't be using Club sites. Even in normal times I hardly use the facilities.

I've not seen anything about swimming pools opening. In indoor changing rooms I would have thought social distancing difficult. Certainly would be at the leisure club we normally use. I suppose you could just use every other lane in the pool and have a one way system.🤔

I wouldn’t worry about being actually in a swimming pool, chlorine kills most things, if you knew what lurked in the top six inches in a pool, you’d never swim again😂 Trust me, I have the diplomas that prove it.

Its the changing rooms, loos and showers that are the hazard, it’s safer in the water, even with every other so and so peeing in it! After hours, we used to pour bleach (chlorine) at a low dilute onto floors every now and then. It melted your trainers, and eventually removed the tile grout, but it got rid of the bugs.........😂

But it would be your choice whether or not to go on those terms. If you accepted the variation by booking then they could charge what they liked. Your other choice is to stay away.

If the price reflected  the lack  of facilities that's ok but knowing what the club has been like in the past thay may have you pay full price and then put a sign saying due to covid 19 toilets showers closed

You do realise that with advice like that you would qualify as one of "Toilet Duck" Trump's special advisors.

I don’t think even CAMC would stoop that low. You’ll know what you’re getting in advance, barring unforeseen breakdowns.

I suppose it depends on how bio secure they can make the toilet blocks and whether members can be trusted to ensure the highest hygiene standards. When the Government said that you could visit another house they seemed very nervous about visitors using their friends toilet facilities and suggested that after use the toilet would require a thorough cleaning between uses. How on earth is the Club going to manage that. It's not something that is mentioned often but there is a view that the virus is present in urine and stools of someone infected, one of the reasons the advice is to flush the toilet with the seat down,  so another reason perhaps not to open toilet blocks.

I wouldn’t waste the bleach on T.☹️ Every Pool Manager I worked with had the end of his tie bleached, it came from peering into big tanks of sodium (or calcium) hypochlorite wondering either where the blockage was, or how much to order..... The wise wore those clip on ties. It was a regular occurrence in my early days working in pools to see someone hurtle out of a plant room and jump fully clothed into a pool. Then all hell would break loose....... burst pipe or a spillage.

Delivery systems are much more sophisticated nowadays....thankfully!

Having not been away at all this year, yesterday I toyed with the idea of booking a couple of nights away at Broadway in July, with the intention of using my own facilities and not using the toilet blocks. On looking at the booking page there were very few dates available and the couple that suited me would have cost £70 for two adults. I couldn't justify paying that much just for two nights and not using the facilities so I'll be staying at home or using CL's at the moment.

    THE.  wife?

Are you also going to take THE soap, THE towel, THE Chair? How about any other appliance or ‘thing’.

Sorry, I find anyone who refers to their life partner as THE is very disrespectful.

    Rant over

Arty - I remember being told long ago (not by Mrs M admittedly) that "the" wife was the respectful expression to use since "my" wife implies the lady is a mere possession.

Personally, I stick to "better half" to others and "darling" to the lady herself .....

.....and if you believe that, you'll believe anything! laughing

I asked my wife the question, after a bemused look she said-‘I am your wife it’s a fact, the wife is more impersonal, I’m happy with my wife’, so am I👍🏻😊

I had to use a club site toilet block because my wife was answering a call of nature in the van, I can tell you a number of members don't or to lazy to use the toilet brush.

    Evening

Talk of delivery systems, my designated site this year has a leisure pool. I worked here 7 years ago when it was a swimming pool (there's a difference) Back then it was a case of bucket and chuck it! Difficult to keep the water quality even, backwashing every other day, flocculation a headache. Very different now, nice electrics and buttons to push. Any luck we might get to push those buttons before next yearundecided

The ring tone on my mobile phone for calls from my wife was chosen by her - it is very effective and it says  "Its the wife....Its the wife"

Outdoor pools can be a bit of a nightmare. Does it use Calcium Hypochlorite? Less affected by sunlight, which is part of what makes the water go green? Get the mucky so and so’s to have a shower BEFORE swimming, and visit the loo before swimming, it helps🤢

Aluminium Sulphate is what we used to floc, but it was done on top of filter beds, these were big pools, including a big leisure pool.

    Hi TDA

Bit rusty 7 years on but I do recall using aluminium sulphate. I do remember we had daily problems with the scumline and lots of late days scrubbing! Hope that's changed now though. Bit weird looking at a murky lagoon today, normally it would be sparkling and full of life!
