    Some of the biggest hotels across Devon and Cornwall will not reopen due to the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had, it has been announced.

    Specialist Leisure Group (SLG), which owned coach company Shearings and several other businesses, collapsed into administration today

    Wow, does not help the governments STAYCATION plea, but should help the club if more people switch to camping undecided

    I absolutely agree, Micky, but I don't think we can necessarily assume his background and education were the cause. Stupidity and arrogance can be found in all sectors of the community.

    This should help these holiday destinations to stay a lot quieter during the summer period then. Just what many of the locals want, when they moan about the shops and roads being too busy during these periods.

    What i cant get my head round is surely these people are Technically and Media savvy. They must know that their every move is scrutinised. Whilst we yokels may not be so clued in they surely are. Is it just arrogance- or contempt.

    Of course it would happen,

    Now we have the littering problem of potentially contaminated waste blowing around of face masks and gloves of all sorts of material, so much for 'responsible' people.

    I wonder how long it takes a latex glove or cloth face mask to degrade?

    I wonder how much more wildlife will die as a result, if general plastics aren't enough?

    I must admit I share your concerns. Just when we were starting to move away from disposable plastic packaging along comes disposable gloves.  After our general bin collection on Tuesday I picked up 3 individual plastic gloves which were the lying on the pavement as I was walking dogs: yet another use for poop bags! 😀

    I'm on overload with the plastic bags used in the Waitrose delivery, Morrisons use brown paper carriers. Never had so many plastic bags, ever!

    When we started having Waitrose deliveries eight weeks or so ago we started off with the 5p ones they stopped selling. From there we went to very flimsy clear bags and this week everything came in Bags for Life!! I have a reasonable clear conscience because for the last ten years or so we have used Quick Check and have used mainly the same hessian bags we were provided with all those year ago so probably saved thousands of plastic bags over that time!

    Since the lockdown I’ve notice evermore rubbish and dog poo. Perhaps folk can’t multi task, keep safe and pick up after them

    We use them as bin liners In the kitchen and bathroom, saves having to buy any.

    I must agree though that the number of bags Waitrose pack stuff in is rather excessive!

    As you say there is no doubt that litter and discarded poo bags have increased since lockdown  but I do believe resident litter picking has also increased.

    When we ( OH is now my full time apprentice!) go out on our daily walk we always litter pick filling the "quality bags" from our online shopping. We are surprised that on a number of occasions we have walked along footpaths that have obviously just been litter picked by others.

    Unfortunately, since the increase in traffic there has been a similar increase in the number of cans etc "lobbed" out of cars.  frown

    I don't think there is any need to apologise RC. I am quite new to this posting, but I soon realised that ranting is what most of this posting is about. I only really got involved as a result of being bored during Lockdown and having nothing better to do. I too am really annoyed with all the litter that is about and have found that I am picking up more litter during my daily exercise. One new thing I have recently come across whilst out is poo bags full of poo hanging on trees like decorations. I can't understand dog owners going to the trouble of picking up and then just hanging it on a tree for someone else to dispose of. Can anyone please explain why people do this. I know you are less likely to tread in it, but I find hanging it on tree a really disgusting habit.

    "You Are Not Alone" since lockdown Rosa and I on our several (4) walks a day it is only on our early morning 0630-0700 start walks, do we very rarely see others out apart from the regular dog walkers,

    All the other walks there are many also out walking/cycling/jogging or new  it seems? dog walkers 

    There is far more litter and dog poo around now even in areas that there are quite a few multi purpose bins litter/bagged dog poo,

    And the public rights of ways  footpaths and bridleways are getting quite worn in places with the amount of use compared to before lockdown with even more litter ,bottles,plastic and glass plus drink cans,

    Since the last easing there are also  a lot more cars parked near our ancient woodlands i also noticed that there are now big signs up  asking for people to not light fires or use barbeques

    I used to do it and pick it up on the way back but occasionally I would come back a different way. Not guilty anymore as I now do not have a dog.

    I stil do it to remind me where it is (we normally do out and back routes), rather than on the ground which may get missed

    I think the ranting is generally only on specific threads. Have a look at some of the others ("What are you up to today" or "Fun and Trivia" for example) and you'll find plenty of good humoured posts😊

    Yes, the pooh bags - got that too.  
    I’ve decided for my own sake to stop trying to understand why some people discard their litter because I never will understand.  Best not to give them headspace.  I just pick their rubbish up and that way it’s no longer there to upset/annoy me.

    A few months back litter was not such a problem as now,and us dogwalkers would if  noticed and reachable pick it up an put to retrieve on our return to put in first bin

    It is more complicated now as the situation makes one more wary without a litter picker to retrieve  some items (bottles/cans) and we already carry secateurs to keep brambles etc at bay

    Ah yes , the dog poo tree , they only seem to grow next to public footpaths and appear in”flower” all year round
