Corona Virus Concerns

ours yesterday was ok, but we are mostly shingle/pebbles so does not attract quite so many people as those georgeous beaches in Devon or Cornwall, good luck for this weekend

I prefer beaches a bit more like this. Weather often not as good though.😂

As the car parks and visitor centre here at Sherwood Forest are still closed, the rubbish bins have been sealed with a polite notice to please take your rubbish home. The dog bins were left open and emptied periodically. So some folk see fit to dump plastic bottles etc in them, until they are overflowing and rubbish is blowing about. Some just don't deserve to be allowed out into our countryside.

Or like this - not likely to get there with a van or MH though!

id say its a lot lower than the 1 in 1000 you suggest....
the (extrapolated, from a survey of just 15,000 folk) infection rate in the uk is 0.25% (1 in 400)
the worldwide 'critical' rate of these possible cases is around 2% of that total, ie 50 times safer than that....1 in 20,000.
of those critical cases, the worldwide death rate is around 14% of that total, ie around 7 times safer than that again....1 in 140,000
of course certain factors may change the numbers depending on, perhaps age, underlying conditions etc...

at 11:05 this morning you posted above "ours yesterday was ok"
yet at 9 this morning you posted this....
"Over the past 2 days we have had similar problems to those experienced in Devon & Cornwall, whereby they have been expecting to sleep overnight in their LV's in car parks clearly displaying signs saying no overnight habitation and in contravention of current lock down rules. . "
which was it....OK or Armageddon?

This one is easy with a Jeep, and you don’t need a ferry ticket....

so sorry did not want to be too pendantic, but for clarity, our particular part of beach was OK, probably because our shoreline stretches from Gosport Marina in the east to Warsash in the west, probably a distance of some 10 miles, some parts more accessible than others.
What was not ok was the overnight parking/sleeping in the public car parks, in campervans/Mh's and the large numbers of people congregating in this particular area and having bbq's adjacent to the cycle path.

I first went to Capetown/Camps bay in 1991/2 (for work) just after the 'thing' ended.
It was amazing and pretty safe, but over subsequent visits you could see the area degrade until my last visit in 2012 where colleagues were mugged and I was threatened and this was on the smart harbour front. It is still a nice place to visit as long as you are cautious.
The beaches are amazing as long as you stay away from the Great White feeding area's where they 'chum' the waters on purpose to keep the sharp pointy teeth away from the beaches. In fact on that memorable first visit, one of the diving instructors was eaten by a GW which was found a few days later dead on the surface having drowned due to the divers wetsuit being stuck in its Gills!

in case you missed it first time round BB, this is what we have to contend with, as you can see the beach area is very empty, but the groups of campervans/Mh's can be quite a problem as they will insist on sitting out next to footpath and in some area cycle path, when i pointed this out to 1 guy he said the pebbles hurt his derriere, to put it politely, i said he should buy a pair of padded trousers, he became quite angry could not figure out why

very good point, it is a recognised car park, but clearly states no human habitation or overnight sleeping allowed., also if you look carefully some of the motorhomes are parked sideways on and a couple are twin axle vans that then use up almost 3 car parking spaces. They cannot park nose or rear in because they would then obstruct the highway, this sometimes leads to fistty cuffs when regular car users cannot park or if they park so close the MH's are boxed in should they wish to leave.
I have witnessed some very interesting scuffles, the police now have a much greater presence since covid reared its head so some of my free entertainment has been curtailed. I mainly cycle through this particular area so no big deal for me.
But to answer your question...i dont know whether parking sideways on and using 3 parking bays is illegal, it is free parking in this area, maybe just antisocial

The latest in our local news. After Wednesdays 'invasion' in the evening 3 fire crews were needed to put out a fire on the beach. A disposable portable barbeque caught light to rubbish left on the beach, this in turn caught light to driftwood and plastic, spreading along the beach. (Probably wasn't their fault maybe they couldn't find any water to dampen down the BBQ!!)

I did notice some parked sideways and some lengthways looking at the picture i can’t see the markings. I don’t know about that particular place but do know some up here say you have to only use one bay. To be honest taking up 3 bays is way out of order and as far as I am concerned should be bookable.

No parking is free in this particular area as in many areas in the Stubbington/Meon shore area, some have recently been tarmaced and marked, some are just gravel and markings are not great but you dont have to be a rocket scientist to see how many spaces a twin axle Concorde is buying up . In some of the main car parks where parking has to be paid for , I have seen the enforcer give tickets to MH's using 2 spaces but only having paid for 1, also to boat owners with trailers.
I guess with corvid, the great weather, camp sites closed, and the number of people now not working the problem has been much worse as there are many people out and about 7 days per week looking for some cheap leisure activity, even one of our main slipways used extensively by jet skis opened this week, has now been closed due to people not sticking to the rules
