Whilst we're abiding by the Coronavirus restrictions, my brother posted on Facebook that motorhomers are arriving in Cornwall and parking at the sea as all campsites are closed.   This is despite the Devon & Cornwall Police stating that they will be patrolling the roads and sending visitors home, and the Cornwall Tourism Officer asking second home-owners to stay away and letting agencies, not to mention Air B&Bs not to accept bookings.   As usual this hasn't reached the ears of the selfish who insist that their enjoyment is a much greater priority than heeding the government's warnings about unnecessary travel. Cornwall's NHS is seriously overburdened at the best of times without these ignoramuses making things worse.   I would like to assume that none of those flouting the restrictions are not members of C & MC, but I wonder...

Well as for your first point, I do know what that refers to but it seemed apparent to me, maybe incorrectly, that it was a tongue in cheek comment.

As to your second point, I must admit I'm not fully familiar with life in Germany under the Stasi, but I doubt reports to them were made in an effort to save lifes.

I really don't understand why you have to attempt to make an issue of something on which we basically agree 100% - everyone should be staying at home and only going out for essential purposes - we do agree on that don't we?

Record their numbers and report them! No one should be embarrassed about supporting the authorities in their efforts to keep folk safe! It's just totally selfish if they're there for no good reason. yell

Same with us, Metheven. Just hope that don't have recourse to use the system.

If people are still letting out holiday homes it will be the local Trading Standard who will be responsible for investigating and shutting the business down. As a TS officer for over 25 years I can assure you it won't be seen as snitching if you report these businesses. We always needed the public to inform us of wrong doing and their reports were welcomed.

For anyone needing to report such an incident in Cornwall, there is an email address and a contact form on the Council's Covid 19 page. Reports made to Crime Stoppers are also being investigated.

They were doing a good job at our local one the other day, with one of their shop assistants wiping down the handles of the trolleys and baskets before anyone took hold of them, with the usual gaps between customers being maintained before letting them in.

Pleased to hear that JVB. I think it's better to avoid public places like shops if you can. A neighbour queued for two hours outside our local chemist today, this is in another village and I can't see why they can't organise the system better. When she returned I had a request from her to put something on my Waitrose list...so that's three of us on the same delivery order now, I hope no-one else asks or the delivery chap will be over burdened.undecided

    +1

'snitching' about who nicked your pen in class is one thing but if one 'snitch' saves one life it would be well worth it and should be done. It could be someone one of us on here cares about.

I wondered how things looked on one of the "wild camping" web sites so took a peek and there is a banner across the title saying "STAY AT HOME"...lets hope the majority do and I mean the whole of the UK not just the SW.

We've been thwarted. Our local Homebase was due to close in June and have had a Shop Closing Down Sale up for weeks. Needed some ready mix concrete and we decided to brave it on Wednesday. Shop now closed completely. Don't think Home Bargains do that. Might have to C&C it from B&Q but store miles away in Chester. Wonder if Welsh Police would let us back in. Can't see it being essential though so looks like job will have to wait.

Thanks to one and all who replied about my dental query.

Will let you know how we get on if needed. Let's hope it isn't.

I know what you mean WN: my fence isn't an essential concern......but as I'm there for the other stuff anyway I'll look out for something to paint it with, if they don't have anything then tough I suppose ....I've got my fingers crossed though as it will provide a few days worth of something to do😊

I too am staying at home. Hence, I have no personally witnessed cases to report.

Which bit of information are you referring to? Surely you’re not doubting Allan&Jean whose information we were originally discussing?

I too am staying at home , but I haven’t been tempted to sit and watch out the window and note down every vehicle and persons movement that goes passed , better things to do

Who's done that? Living in a cul-de-sac, I'd have a very boring existence if I tried 🤣. Curtain twitching in the extreme.
