Coronavirus: Stay or go

Give them chance, FC. The important thing is that the responsible thing has been done at last. It's taken days/weeks for the club to come to its senses so we can't expect immediate publication of the U-turn.

In case you are thinking about a bit of wild camping in Scotland as sites close:
Earlier today on Scottish TV a Government Minister asked that motorcaravans stay at home until the Covid19 crisis has passed. It was said that the Police will be used to move vehicles on and that powers may be taken to make this legally enforcible.
This is in order to minimise pressure on already stretched emergency services. The point was made that that rural Scotland is not a suitable place to self-isolate.

Glad to see the club has eventually come to it’s senses and closed down all sites. Given the government advice on travel and social distancing I am amazed our “leader” attempted to coerce people into visiting in the first place.

Well done CAMC for acting responsibly. My concern now is that people will still come and fly camp on every available space out in the mountains and on the beaches. What are they going to do when it comes to emptying toilets and waste water containers ?
No reward for guessing.

We must hope and pray that folk will act sensibly. Of course, there will always be some that won't, so I guess it's down to the government, police, and society as a whole to get the message across. We went to the shops yesterday for essential items and I was surprised at the number of people just generally milling around, rather than us who just got in and got out as quickly as possible.
Perhaps we should all take to social media....

Their website suggests it’s initially until the end of April as bookings are cancelled until then but it’s clearly subject to ongoing review.
I didn’t see any mention of their CS network.

They probably have no choice. We put in a home delivery order a week ago and the earliest delivery we could get is this coming Thursday, 11 days later. Half the items we want are not available. We attempted to put in another order today, for 10 days time and there are no delivery slots at all available and orders are not being take even on click and collect. I understand it is the same in other parts of the country.
What are you supposed to do?

Well we’re gutted not to be able to go away next weekend now the weather has turned for the good, we didn’t use our caravan much last year due to a couple of expensive flying holidays so this year we were going to get our monies worth, oh well staying safe is more important.

I think it's the same everywhere. We have an order arriving Tuesday, which we booked fairly easily a week ago. However a few days later there were only about 3 slots left for two weeks later 7th April, one of which we were lucky to secure. It remains to be seen what turns up. I have heard tales of folk only getting half their order due to availability. As the supermarkets pick in store and having seen some of the scenes of empty shelves, that wouldn't surprise me.

We don’t have the madness that is engulfing popular tourist destination in UK at the moment, but our very quiet roads are throwing up a different form of cretinous behaviour I am sad to say, many vehicles seem to be speeding, completely disregarding speed limits. It’s getting frightening to be out on roads, and this comes from someone who drives a big Jeep. I am ashamed to be British at the moment, it’s not good, far too many people doing bad things, no regard for others☹️

We were due to go to Dartmoor and Cornwall today, and should by now be on a CL on an overnight stop. I actually cancelled well over a week ago, as I didn't think then it would be advisable to still go.
Let's hope we'll be able to go either later this year (probably too optimistic?) or otherwise next spring.

Thank you InaD for not coming. Sadly plenty are, such selfish behaviour. We have a high elderly population and only one hospital for 50 miles. And yet here they are in the supermarkets and at the petrol pumps. Phoned my daughter today, asked if they might go for a short walk on the beach, answer, 'not likely Mum the village is packed with holiday makers'! Unbelievable.

Definitely for the best 👍🏻
