Any advice from Club on Coronavirus?

Couple of things happened today -- Delivery of two 'on line' items occurred - Driver rang bell and when I got to the door he was standing well well back but just close enough to pass me the items with both of us at full stretch. He was more concerned than I . He is a transplant recipient, while I'm only a T2 diabetic with a Ramipril cough !
The earlier event was an international phone call from friends in Fuengirola or some such. They are in 9th floor apartment but fit as they can be. However they are in the same state as us here -- no pasta, bog rolls etc etc. BUT they can hear and see those few folks who are outside are being continually checked out by the police two or three times whilst still in sight !! Also there are several police choppers circling the town ( ?? ) if that's what it is.
Think I'll have a light lunch, feed by birds, then finish off the Sunday puzzles Tomorrow a big expensive shop beckons -- very little food but 3 / 4 tank of fuel is a must have, alas..
Minimal contact with humans, so I'll carry wipes for my wallet & cards, I think that will cover most things virus -- wise ??

No need to be concerned about filling up with fuel, just use the automatic pump, firstly pulling on a pair of the throwaway gloves the garages provide. Bin the gloves after use. No physical contact with others needed.

The club as all employers has a responsibility to their staff, ,and even in these times of high anxiety of infection , The use of "much stronger chemicals" would very likely come up against the much maligned "H&S regulations , When i was of the working part of the population , In one of the many areas of my post ,I was involved with the scientific side , One thing that was always pointed out to staff ,was the need to only use materials that had had a proper safety "certificate? Issued for the use of, as materials ,without " "training" in use of and an accident can leave the employer wide open to prosecution , All sites have a list of what is allowed and the safety"certifcate"that goes with it
And even most domestic cleaning products if used in the work environments come under that category
Nothing his simple these days although most can be overcome (for a price via the outsourced these days companies)

I started this thread in the hope that there would be some firm advice from the Club on its UK sites facilities. I have been bombarded with emails from the various large hotel chains that I used to use for business (Marriott, Hilton etc.) and from Eurotunnel. The Club’s home page has a link to Coronavirus but it seems to just cover overseas holidays and cancellation policy. I am none the wiser about the UK sites and whether they are operating as normal, any special precautions etc.

It could be that the Club are concentrating on those already abroad or those about to depart as per Rowena's latest post in the Overseas Section. Anyone using UK Club sites has the freedom to make their own decisions on whether to go or to cancel and if it is the latter there is no financial penalty. It could be that the Club is also waiting to see what Government instructions are before making any changes.

Edit - I have been in contact with Rowena and she will discuss with the sites department and hopefully be able to provide some more information in the next day or two.

I just came onto the website to see what the information /advice was from the CMHC regarding sites/ booking etc, expecting to see a banner on the front page regarding Covid- 19 . We cleaned the van today and are thinking of getting away for a few days in the next week or so wanted to check what measures the CMHC have in place or any other relevant information as every other site I've looked at for various other travel/ leisure arrangements have information banners on the front page, from coach companies to our local little theatre. What info is there here .....zilch, nothing..... I'm amazed

My neighbour's daughter is a radiographer; she said that someone had gone into the sluice in her department and stole all the hand sanitiser.
It really beggars belief that some people will stoop so low, either on a site or in a hospital, any public place.
Sorry, off topic, but fatbelly's post reminded me of it.

Not far off topic InaD, you have told us how Low Lifes are reacting to the covid 19 out in the real world not on line!!
Me ?? well It does not surprise me in any way, the years have taught me to expect little and just be pleased if I'm proved wrong
Take care of yourselves here or over there

I see that Rowena has posted a Sticky on this which hopefully will get updated. Thanks.

I note a number of virus related threads have been locked. Whilst there is danger of duplication they were raising perfectly legitimate comments and questions. This is allegedly a members organisation so if the club wants to sensor discussion then it needs to issue a statement by email to ALL members, even if as a holding statement, not just assume the forum and website are regularly used bu all members. Come on club, with all due respect to Rowena and her hard work, please get your PR in gear PDQ, other organisations are.

I do wish people wouldn't use the word censor because we don't do that. Any thread or post is checked against the T&C's of the forum which we all operate under and acted upon accordingly. On your point about other threads being locked. Had we not done that we would have over a dozen threads running on the same subject which most sensible people would accept as being a bit pointless. The regulars on here will be inclined to check what threads there are but what happens something unexpected comes up is that we have a lot of new first time posters who may not know their way around the forum which results in a lot of duplication. We do try and point people in the right directions and inviting them to contribute to existing threads. Unfortunately we can't merge threads, so locking and pointing to existing threads is the best option to cut down on duplication.

On Monday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a significant escalation of UK measures in response to coronavirus, including advising everyone in the country to avoid pubs, clubs, restaurants and theatres and to only make essential journeys.
If the Prime Minster is saying people should only make essential journeys how can members of the CMHC justify traveling around the UK potentially spreading the Coronavirus?
It would seem very simple the more people travel, the more the Coronavirus spreads.

I wouldn’t get too concerned, the PM will be making further announcements in a matter of days, enforcing closures of all but essential services such as food retailers, petrol stations etc. Tougher restrictions on travel, with measures like France have imposed where you have to justify car journeys. Only allowed out of homes for essential purposes basically.
Schools will close first, expect that could be the end of this week.
Anyone away in their caravans or motorhomes are likely to get their breaks cut at very short notice.0 -
Got any evidence to support those statements?

Came across this on the BBC News website https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-51937753 It does seem to be mainly relating to second homes and statics but I suppose it wouldn't take long for people to start saying the same about Touring Campsite?

And from that article:
"New measures introduced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday urged people to avoid all unnecessary travel."
That pretty well sums it up. Time to put the caravan back on the jacks and the cover on. One thing is certain, things aren't going to improve anytime soon.

Time the club bit the bullet and shut all club sites, this is not a joke this is a very serious situation people travelling to other parts of the country are spreading the virus.
I have a new caravan can’t wait to use it but it is not right at the moment.

The National Trust are keeping all the open spaces and gardens open for people to get out and reconnect with nature during this stressful time. This will often involve travelling to said places. If caravanners use their own on board facilities there is little reason to make close contact with other people. I for one would certainly do ‘social distancing’! We have cancelled our trips for April and May but will decide on June nearer the time.

After the latest updates about the Covid19 virus and schools closing etc it's highly likely that the NT will have to re-consider.
Forget about caravan and motorhome breaks, think about others and help everyone get through this emergency.
