So "stop non essential travel" doesn't apply then?
2 -
"There is no danger from travel as I shall be in a car."
So you'll never need fuel on your journeys doing all those extra miles, you'll not meet folk in the facility block or at the CCP etc etc.
Don’t be selfish, Easy, stay at home. It applies equally to you as well as the rest of us. I never had you down as a silly person.😖

If youre travelling in car you are not mixing . Logical, in van you are away from people , Easy T with you common sense

I despair, I really do! Why do you think you are exempt from following the Govt recommendations? What part of "non-essential travel" don’t you understand. That’s a stupid and selfish attitude. Sorry to be so blunt but it’s blatant disregard for others and far from common sense. 😫

Nope, not directly. Travelling does not mean being in contact with people per se.
I have a 2 bedroom house booked for a break with grandkids and my youngest daughter early easter. As it stands we are likely to go. My driving does not affect anybody. We shall self cater and as my youngest grandson is autistic and does not do well in crowds we have some activities planned that are away from people and will be spending a lot of time in the house playing games also. My youngest is a single parent of an 8 year old and a difficult 7 year old and suffers with arthritis and needs a break even if we do not go out and about in crowds.

No I will not meet folk at fuel pumps at proximity as I pay at machine. I won't meet folk at facility blocks as although I rarely use them (when I do I find them quiet at 6.30am) I probably use them only half a dozen times in a 4 week break and as I am in a high risk group would not use at all in the present environment. I have not had people within 3m of me when using the outside CCP ......... not many wish to stand looking over your shoulder on such occasions.
I never had you down as a silly person.
Instead of knee jerking I prefer to use logic.

It matters not what spin you put on it, the Govt advice is not to undertake unnecessary travel whether you agree or not. Easy and DC were talking about being on sites and, Easy, I've already made my points to you.
Do you not realise that your blatant breach of the Govt recommendations could result in stricter measures being enforced by law?
To my earlier adjectives I add irresponsible and reckless.

You sound very defensive and are ignoring the fact that you are undertaking non-essential travel contrary to the Govt's request. That’s selective thinking. JK is not undertaking non-essential travel which is what you propose to do.

As we are away in our caravan at the moment we shall be making our way homeward as from tomorrow, but will be stopping for a couple of nights enough route on a CL, so very little contact with others. Filled up the other day using automatic pump, and will do the same again should I need more fuel, so no contact with anyone at the garage.

ET, I'm in isolation in my home, I'm not away. I don't get a choice in the matter as Spain, unlike the UK has a more than adequate Police force to ensure I do.
Bit of an "I'm alright jack" attitude of yours thinking the govt/ advice doesn't apply to you

To Easy T,
I would like to point out to you that whilst you are undertaking any ‘non-essential travel’ (as requested by UK Government), in your car, you may well be involved in an accident or indeed be unaware that you’re infected with Covid-19.
From my experience as a frontline Paramedic/Ambulance Driver (Roadcraft trained), I can assure you that each & every one of us could be involved in accident at any time - yourself included.By avoiding ‘non-essential’ travel you will be helping the Emergency Services & all NHS staff by not creating an unnecessary admission into hospital, possibly ICU & also protecting them should you be infected with Covid-19.
I’m dismayed that I’m even typing this reply to you.

Hi, I've just cancelled a birthday meal, a night out with the lads and our April holiday in the van. Was really looking forward to it and needing it too. Had hoped in the past few days to still go far North and keep ourselves to ourselves. But non essential travel, with no pubs or restaurants is a pretty clear message now. Do you think the Club will close all sites now ? They might consider that the responsible thing to do. Take temptation away from us. Keep well everyone, Alex.

Have several trips planned from April to the end of August and plan to attend them all unless the caravan club tell us different , as long as you act sensible and adhere to the advise I don't see a problem. We always use our own facilities even on sites with toilets and showers so nothing will change on that count. I would have thought that being out and about in the fresh air by the sea must be a benefit to our health.Keep calm and carry on , as they say.

So holidays are essential travel then?

And i thought you were a responsible citizen unbelievable, what do you not get about "non essential travel", if you think it is ok for you to tour the country with your LV why should thousands of others not do the same ? this would put thousands of people at risk

I just hope the government introduce fines such as those in Spain for ignoring advice such as "non essential travel" and you get caught then we will see just how precious your time away really is, and dont forget even if you use your own facilties you still have to empty that dreaded toilet cassette, happy camping, hope you dont get caught in the stampede to evacuate your site when somebody takes ill.

Despite being an advocate of carrying on, as I have this week, we too have decided to return home on Thursday. We have an octenagarian to look after plus I fall within the vunerable group due to medical reasons.
I cannot go against Government advice, even if I thought it wrong. I have no idea whether they know what they are doing is right, and I strongly suspect neither do they but we shall get out the paint brushes and give the house the best Spring clean it's ever had.
Mrs WN will have to be our "boot on the ground". Let's hope she stays virus free.
Good luck everyone.

Im dismayed that you are saying what you are saying. I've been caravaning since 1980 and in all that time i have never had an incident on holiday or while traveling but have experienced many incidents at my home in that time, I understand your concerns but life has to carry on otherwise we would never go anywhere , are you suggesting that we stay at home until this health issue is over if so can you say we will all be trouble free next time we take our units out on to the roads again. No you cannot , no one can predict whats going to happen so i will not be giving up my beloved pass time.

Good on you, WN.
Stay well.

Listening to one of our younger relatives last weekend who is a consultant at a large hospital the medics are already under a lot of pressure with all the seriously ill people who are unconnected with the coronavirus outbreak. It's a big ask for us all not to overburden the system but we need to heed the advice, it's very important for all of us and I'm sure we'll all do our bit to help.

Hi dreamer1, I think that is exactly what the Government is saying. I also like how you're willing to follow the advice of the Club before the Government, health professionals and experts. 🙂 Be safe.👍 Alex.
