Coronavirus: Stay or go

I get that but depending on how long it takes to get a vaccine against it, this could rumble on for the rest of the year and possibly return again come the next flu season.
Even with a vaccine it would still be possible to catch it, just like we can still catch seasonal flu even after being vaccinated.

Please don’t tar any groups with a discriminatory tag, there are loads of lovely people of all ages doing lots to keep vulnerable neighbours safe and cared for as much as possible. With appropriate precautions, and ensuring the help is needed, it could be lifesaving to just ask if everything is ok, anything needed.

From a purely selfish perspective i am planning to travel to southern Spain commencing 14th April and first hand information could be very useful, it need not be detailed, just a couple of lines giving details of any difficulties etc. I have a daughter who lives in Villa Martin who is giving me some info but she is static not mobile, but they seem to be trouble free at the moment, as does most of that area.
This is a post of yours Rufs from the Coronavirus Worries thread dated the 11th.March.
At that moment in time we had cancelled our planned trip to Spain as the infection numbers had risen fivefold on the 10th.March. I had posted about the cancellation on that thread before the above quoted section of a post of yours. The numbers in Spain on the 11th. exceeded 1300. So, you were still contemplating going to Spain with all of the information in front of you. You were prepared to be a "carrier" as you've accused me of potentially being. You were prepared to tour in your LV but like to hector other people about doing the same. Isn't this just a tad hypocritical?

, Please try to come into the real world of modern society in many places ,,, i have worked with the general public for many years and understand there are some very helpfull folk out there , but they are it noticed ,,getting to be very much in the minority these days of our very more insular society

We are on Lanzarote just now which is under Spanish rules.
Folk are allowed out if they have a purpose, like food shops, pharmacy, walk dog, going to work if allowed etc.
If in a car only 1 at a time, buses are running but at half capacity to allow space between folk.
Fines for none essential journey's can be anything from 500€ to 2000€.
Shops only allowing 1 customer at a time in shop, up side is there is no queuing at the tills
We will survive, its not the end of the world.

so i was seeking information from somebody who might be in the region because at this particular time numbers in the UK were very small, none in my area, pretty much still the same today as far as i know, and the centre of the infection in Spain was mainly in the North of the country and in isolated pockets that one could avoid, and as the Spanish land mass is almost twice that of the UK there is quite a big difference between the North & South which is were i was bound, however, based on information i received i quickly decided that traveling was a no brainer which I still stick by today whether it be in Spain or the UK.
clearly if you think your leisure activities take precedence over the safety of others then please proceed, personally i think i will be able to proceed with my leisure activities long after this virus has been banished from our lands knowing that i played my part in making this possible and that making a sacrifice of staying put for a couple of months was well worth the effort.

I did read what you wrote Rufs and so can everyone else. You admitted being selfish and stated that you intended to travel to Spain. It's as clear as the nose on your face.
In addition you would have had to travel through an heavily infected area after leaving the ferry.
Nothing in that post said that you were going to make a great sacrifice.
It's my last word on this subject as I feel you have tarnished any argument by your own petard.

Or will have just seen it on the national news!

that was then this is now, and i have just watched the harrowing scenes within Spain on the BBC 2200 hrs news, these scenes will be replicated very soon in the UK, that is why in my opinion people should not be roaming the country in their Lv's possibly endangering the lives of others, simply so that they can enjoy leisure time when others are doing their best to try and keep this dreadful virus at bay.
I suspect also that like me you are retired so would staying at home for a couple of months be such a hardship ?

Not quite anything and everything, just the airplane table and armrests the difference there was we were coming on holiday and didn't want to contract it at that time.
Now that it appears very few are going to escape that fate why delay, get it over and done with.
Is there any information regards those that have recovered, ie are they now able to mix with folk and not catch it again or would they be classed as a carrier.
Just wondering if you get it then recover would you then be the perfect person to go into the community to help others.

We have many friends caught in the lock down in Spain and Portugal and life is becoming increasingly difficult for them. It seems that many campsites and aires in both countries are being closed, and I wonder if that will happen here as the number of cases increase? C&MC has made no announcement yet as far as I'm aware.

I am of TG's view, catch it early while the NHS can still cope. However while I might survive, if I passed it on to my wife who is in the at risk category, she, in all probabilty, would not.
We ordered our groceries on line yesterday, just as well because they cannot deliver for 2 weeks!

We have 4 days booked for the end of March to visit daughter in London before she moves to Singapore. Meal booked in the Shar, but looks likely we will cancel our bookings.
Wife in risk group so would be unwise to travel. Shame but health and others health come first

It’s a ‘stay’ from me....
After pragmatically & theoretically considering the current Coronavirus situation whilst wearing my professional, medical (retired) head, the imminent 7 night, (commencing 20/03/20), CAMC UK site holiday my Husband & I have had booked since last year, has unfortunately & disappointedly been cancelled by us.
Reducing the risk of contracting &/or spreading Covid-19 & keeping in good health is paramount for us.
Future UK CAMC trips we have planned, remain booked & will be revised nearer the time .....

As far as I know the government haven't advised against unnecessary travel and all CAMC sites are open Therefore we will be going away this weekend for 3 nights as planned. We will observe all hygiene recommendations and take all our food and drinks with us.
However if the weather is OK to sit outside and the local pub is open we may stop for a pint.
If the government or CAMC change their recommendations we will follow the new guide lines.
