Like many we have care responsibilities for octogenarian parent. Thus far have fought to maintain her independence and mobility by going into the local shopping centre for aimless wanders in the dry over the winter, meals out at garden centres, coastal restaurant. Last evening we went out for dinner, and plan to have a day out next weekend.

Mum has a hospital appointment in the week, not been cancelled yet.

Whilst we can will continue to have trips out, even if only for a picnic in the middle of nowhere, and be responsible. What concerns me so far is the social media effect on younger people's behaviour and the panic buying of loo rolls. I went shopping with mum on her Friday afternoon shop as is usual, there were plentiful stocks on the shelves. Yesterday on Facebook was a message that pasta was in short stock, this morning when I went shopping for the family, the shelves of pasta was bare. When the over 70s self isolation order goes out will older people face abuse from social media users if they are seen outdoors?

On the bright side, will the honey pot CAMC sites be available for families at Easter as the over 70s will be locked in at home. We are booked at BW, will be be able to have mother in law down for lunch in the van?

We have several trips booked through to end of May that we will take.

    Strange days ahead.

I very much doubt that the over seventies will be under 'lockdown' although they may be advised to isolate.

Let’s hope those "lovely people" weren't infected. ☹️

That, I fear, is the danger of mixing with folk whether it be on site or anywhere else. It all helps to spread the contagion.

cant share your optimism, if Spain is anything to go by, all travel will be curtailed except for people going to work or to shop, Italy is pretty much the same. Home for me until we see what pans out, should be going to Spain 14th April but have cxld that, and dont like touring in the UK if weather not great.

One of the problems in Spain has been people legging it out of what was supposed to be a locked down Madrid, to the coast and taking the virus with them, if you go to the coast in your LV it might just be perceived that you are doing similar and might just draw some anger from some locals, especially if you are raiding their supermarkets undecided

not what is happening in Spain, for everybody, and the Guardia are strongly enforcing a lock down, could be same in the UK in only a matter of weeks, so not just those over 70undecided

Just come back from a quiet long weekend away soaking up some riverside scenery. I will be taking government advice and we will be keeping our socialising to only that which is essential. I will be cancelling a couple of events and a cruise and thereafter keeping my options open and be guided by what pans out.

One can also be a little more proactive than merely hoping.

Clearly he's not in "lockdown " if out and about shopping and potentially spreading the virus.

Its a shame there isn't a friendly fit and healthy neighbour that could help him.

undecidedThey are not the type to, be normally sociable, but I wonder if what he says is correct  as looking on line cannot find any information as to what happens if diagnosed, ,   he has come back with milk bread and looks like baconsurprised

Ps  younger"neighbours" these days it seems  are like those on sites , very rarely out, as they get home and pull up the drawbridgefrown

hope you were not too close or you will surely have been infected.

My daughter in Spain now reports that all beaches, parks and gardens are off limits, you can exercise your dog in the immediate area of your apartment block but only 1 person per dog, the Guardia are patroling in vehicles and they are armed.undecided

    Hi

I think it's probably time to try and reduce the risk. Most of the virus spread has been caused by people travelling. Do we really need that few days away? I say that because here in Spain we're now on total lockdown. Not even allowed to go for a walk. Helicopters patrolling night and day. It's not a pleasant experience. Food rationing is on the cards. The spread has been proven to be by people travelling to different areas.

    Stay safe folks

    Locked down JK

But with a UK population of about 65 million it’s still a very small number, but some like to panic

very true, but if we act now now now we could perhaps keep it to smaller numbers, no good closing the stable door after the horse has bolted, and do we really need to be roaming in our LV's , I dont think so yell

It’s not panicking to be sensible and cautious as none of us wants to become a statistic. Only the foolhardy will carry on regardless.

I can guarantee, accidents excepted, that the number of people I come into contact with this week whilst away in my caravan on a CL will be less than those if I stay at home and continue in my normal manner, which at the moment includes avoiding unnecessary contact with anyone.

We didn't stop our outfit en route here and I am not roaming the countryside in it. I am going from A to B.

I know the consequences of what I am doing. Basically enjoying myself whilst taking the utmost precautions.

Regarding this discussion abut being more in line with what is happening in Europe, now I have no idea but as we are supposed to be two weeks (is it?) behind them then in two weeks time one of the two 'systems' will show which one is has done the most to stop the virus. If after two weeks Europe is improving we can adopt that system then?
