I've a couple of bottles of rather strong "cordial" in the van that should do the trick, with something like 48% proof, so will have to be having a nip or two of that.

Regarding this non closure of schools, at a senior meeting at my wife's school they reckon this stay off if you get a new persistent cough or high temperature will achieve the same thing sooner or later. If not enough teachers can get in then what happens? It would be great if the number of children off is in right ratio to the number of staff? Even then what about support staff? Cleaners, caretakers? lunch time supervision staff? cooks?
Plans are to amalgamate classes as far as possible even to having all one year group in open spaces - hall and gyms? But too many variables to plan for.
I've been contacted (along with others like me) by a number of supply agencies who want me to be available for full days and even for odd mornings/afternoons but I'm seriously not going to put myself at increased risk.
Is it just me or is watching the news surreal? like thinking I'm watching something from the other side of the world and not my own back yard?

It’s all rather confusing, Corners. We're told there’s a plan and hold tight but it’s starting to feel like panic stations.
I don’t blame you for being wary of stepping into a school where the virus has struck down staff. You have your own family to consider as well as yourself and it seems to me that such a move using supply teachers is actually drawing more folk into the firing line and encouraging the spread of the disease.

Daughters school had a confirmed case earlier today. School closed immediately. Busses called in to take students home. Deep clean immediately. Nothing in the mainstream media frenzy about, yet. Back to school on Monday.
handled with complete calm and professionalism, the students didn't even know there was a case until arriving home. Parents kept informed.
At work we had an instruction for non essential visits to operational sites to be cancelled, operational delivery staff only. Use teleconferencing instead of face to face.
We have 4 confirmed cases in our town. 1 from someone who knew better and travelled to Italy for a freebie against all advice, infected 2 colleagues on return. Don't drink a fancy brand coffe beginning with La...
Despite the media frenzy, as with decrying the NHS, there are stringent, working procedures in place. Reassuring.

Just a few rambling thoughts....
I get the impression that our government have already decided that it’s no good to buck the trend, that millions in this country will be infected. By contrast, other governments are trying to mitigate by limiting contact between individuals. So, as I see it, it seems like we are in for a short sharp shock, whereas others may well have a much more protracted affair. Who’s right?

As it’s unknown territory I have no idea what it should be like tbh🤷🏻♂️. It is what it is. I’m not overly worried, it’s the ‘flu season’ I know there’s infectious diseases out there, I accept I can do everything in my power to stop it-beyond that the dice rolls & I cannot control how they fall. No Govt can control a new virus so I hold no one responsible nor do I want to blame anyone. I am at peace👍🏻

I notice the Covid 19 guidance on the club web site has not been updated since the 10th March, despite significant developments both here and abroad. Since that date. Unless it is updated over the weekend, which would be unusual, it won't be changed till Monday at the earliest..
Surely at the very least they should be outlining some protocols, should you develop symptoms whilst on site. Such as perhaps using your mobile to inform the wardens, rather than in person. I suppose each site might be handling these separately, if so a statement to that affect would be useful.

There is talk of extending the Easter period , which if it goes ahead could be better news for families on Easter breaks as if they do so it could well be cheaper to go away, out of the normal Easter peak prices

We've also got a daughter, teaching all age ranges in a secondary school. She said there is a high level of anxiety amongst students who are on media overload. Combined with all the windows being kept open throughout the school it's been a tough week. I'm hoping they'll close early for Easter but the A level students need help just now.
I agree with SteveL's point about the CAMC updates on here. I realise things must also be tough in the leisure industry so sympathise with everyone employed by the club but updates are helpful to members.

It's very difficult to plan for something when what we are planning for doesn't conform to what we want it to do. The policy, perfectly sensible in my view, is to try and prevent a massive spike in cases which would overwhelm the NHS. The gift of that is not entirely in our own hands. The fact that sporting events have been cancelled is not because that is the best way to help tackle the overall problem but because some of the players in those sports have been infected and logically if they carried on and even greater number of the participants would be infected. There also seems to be a desire for a wide range of the population to actually get the virus to build up herd immunity which in the longer term will save more lives if in the mean time more vulnerable people can be protected. Its a strange balancing act which could go either way! I am not quite sure what closing schools would actually achieve? It could actually make matters worse particularly if grand parents are expected to help with child care. Even the experts don't agree on the best course of action. Some think we are four weeks behind Italy (the official view I think) and others think we are much closer may be as close as only being two weeks behind. At the end of the day the impact might be governed us all taking personal responsibility for our own actions.

would the best advice be for the club to announce they are delaying opening sites and restricting access to those already opened, look what has happened in Spain, many people living in Madrid that is supposed to be in lock down, fleeing south to the Mercia region, result many of them are already infected and now the infection is spreading throughout the Mercia region with many areas on lock down and being told to self isolate, state of emergency now declared in Spain, we are heading that way

Just had a text message from our Doctors practice, all online bookings have been stopped along with walk in appointments, and accepting telephone appointments only. Could never get through on the telephone before this virus so no chance at all now
Our dog is having an operation on Tuesday, we have to wait in the carpark and call the vets by phone to say we have arrived, they will come out and see us when ready at appointment time, basically the waiting room/reception is closed to people. Oh and cash will not be accepted, only card payments.
I suppose all individuals have the right to protection from others, as we do from them, but this is certainly an eye opener and perhaps a practice in levels of hygiene that may become permanent..

Will the vets be disinfecting the Card Reader and your card? I believe that the virus can survive longer on plastic than it can on paper or metal surfaces [coins]? Serious question!

I suppose its a toss up between practicality and going OTT, do I use the antiseptic wipe to operate the door handle on exiting!
