CAMC 10amp Electric?

There is also the payment for your electricity when your stay is finished? The added administration?
Well what about the cost of checking each meter is correctly calibrated? I don't know but I assume that has to be done? I wonder how often that would have to be done and by who?

But are people who use CLs representative of those using club sites?
They may welll use CLs because it works out cheaper but I don't see it relevant to how electricty is charged for. There is only one way to find out what is preferable and that is survey the membership.

Personally I do not like the idea of having a different maximum current available on different pitches. My preference is to choose a pitch based on its location and the available view, and I would hate to have to trade these off against an adequate electricity supply.
What I would prefer if there has to be price moderated limitations of supply, is that ALL pitches have a 16 ampere supply available, and that software is used to set any lower maximum draw. Equipment using wi-fi for this is now widely available. [Remember the wi-fi within a site is not the same as the available speed on the link to the Internet.]
Having been using my caravan during both of the recent storms I wonder how these modern, well insulated caravans are able to stay warm on such low levels of power when the howling gale is coming in through all the gas escape vents in the floor!

Corners, I must take issue with your claim there!
My OH has been involved with the running of our local Guide Hall for the last 25 years, 22 of those as the person setting the heating, organising cleaning, grounds upkeep organising and overseeing repairs and modernisation, taking bookings, etc etc.
For the last 15 years she has also been the treasurer of the parents committee who decide on how to raise funds and how to spend them, taking into account the requirements of the 8 Rainbow, Brownie and Guide units that use the building.
She negotiates the gas and electricity contracts, organises the insurance, deals with all bookings and prepares the accounts, which are audited annually
The Hall is used 6 days per week in school term, at various times, and is also available for parties at other times.
I myself have also been involved in doing various repairs and bits of work there, including fitting a new kitchen, new utility room and dozens of new cupboards, and installing new interior lights, all to help keep the cost of such work to a minimum.
So I think I can say that I know a lot about how a Guide Hall is run.

miniscual and not time consuming, you simply unplug your lecce at a convenient time when packing up, stroll over to reception, give your pitch number and hey presto they produce your bill for lecce, on some sites in spain you can pop into reception at any time and they will give you a print out of lecce used thus far. Not sure if they check meters or not in spain but probably not high on their agenda.

I so agree with your post , how many non electric pitches are on hardstandings on any sites in the UK , and with what some say when owing a motor caravan and some with towed caravans they want hardstandings, even if there are a few sites in the UK that staff wiil come out and turn off the supply on hardstanding if not req?

It has nothing to do with how electricity is charged for, people who use CL (may) have differing set ups to those that mainly club site users. They may have SP for example. That is why they perhaps use CLs. Each group has a different mindset and so asking one what should happen on the other is not a good idea is it? Just because as you say those using CLs said they would prefer metering (and really how big is your sample size?) doesn't mean that can be applied to mainly club site users.
Have you considered that the club may make money out of the current system?

But house meters aren't used for re-selling electricity under a secondary supply agreement. That comparison is a red herring, PD.

...quite right Steve but some seem to think that any improvement costs need to recouped within minutes of making the investment...hence the 'we cant afford it' or 'cost would rise dramatically' posts...
its almost as if some of these folk havent been in any other business other than one where goverment just 'signs the cheque'...

Please read my post regarding my OH and therefore she oversees all that your does and far more, so she trumps yours
Getting a bit OT so no more from me on this.

Can I ask you how often your appliances at home are PAT tested?
Yet the club has to have safety checks or are you saying because you or one don't have PAT tests at home the club doesn't?
Different rules apply on a public site than at home.

must confess do not use club sites a great deal, but most sites i have used here and over there reception is manned 0800 - 2000 because they have staff who do reception duties only, i know this does not happen on club site as a general rule, but i think the majority of departures take place between 0800 - 1200 you can put as many hurdles in place as you like but all will have to be overcome if prices are to be manageable going forward.

You're a bit out of date BB if you're talking about schools. Have you heard of academy trusts?
Most schools now for a considerable number of years have not been under LEA control or finance and are responsible for their own budgets.

If one is dining at a branch of the Wagamama chain one simply finishes one's meat and walks out. The charge for the food and drink is automatically applied to one's card. I'm sure The Caravan Club could do that as well, or use the system employed in hotels for charging residents who have to depart very early in the day.

That's something I notice a lot on here, Corners. People keep talking about how things were back in the day when they worked and turn a blind eye to the fact that the world has moved on. I know many of the regs and laws which governed my work have changed beyond recognition. Hence, I don't attempt to provide advice on insolvency rules, employment law, civil recovery and so on but settle for pointing people towards those who can help. I'm out of date and, I fear, so are many others.

I suspect that many have other experience.
I suspect also that the CMC management have a fair bit of experience in their sector also as do many UK site providers who also choose not to embrace metering

You must run a different system from up here, the committee that runs the building currently has full authority to spend up to £15k on a project without having to seek permission from anyone else.
Beyond that, it is a paper exercise, 3 quotes are obtained, the committee decide which to accept and this information is submitted to the County Finance team who check the balance sheet to ensure the outlay is affordable and then agree the spend.
At County level, they play no active part otherwise in the running of the building, the building is owned by the District and run on their behalf by the parents committee, freeing up the Leaders to concentrate on Guiding activities.
There are only 3 Guide Halls in the county now, one is fundraising for a replacement building, one is shared with the Scouts (semi detached), and ours.

I have never heard of that chain and most times in restaurants I pay at the end after checking the bill. Not sure I would trust such a system as that.
Equally I'm not so happy about the club having a blank check for them to deduct the money. Mistakes do happen. One warden got the decimal point wrong once in the card machine and had I not checked the amount I would have had £1780 taken out.
Of course it would have been worth it even at that price
