    Why?

Heating or cooling a caravan is not the same as heating or cooling an awning.

The air con units made for vans by Dometic use under 4 amps are they are designed to be used in hot countries like Spain  and France where the EHU is often 6amps or less.

Call it what you like, but from here, it’s not edifying.

but luckily Freddy your edification is not needed or required in order to post and a bit offensive really. And reciprocally the same could be said of your posts, but saying that just doesn't get anyone anywhere or the thread moved forward?

    OT sorry.

Indeed Kj. Heating an awning is largely a waste of time and energy. The more you put in the more that goes out. I have used a fan heating in an awning in very cold weather on two or three occasions over the years. To sit outside in the awning with a brandy and cigar after Christmas lunch. Not to heat the awning but to heat me for half an hour laughing

Heating, or indeed cooling, a more enclosed caravan makes far more sense

Or use air con with the door, windows and Heki open. Yup, I’ve seen it done with the added bonus of deafening the neighbours. I reckon that’s far more wasteful than running a heater in a closed awning but, no matter which way you look at it, each person is entitled to use the lekky in the way they feel appropriate. One person's normal use is another's profligacy and yet another's frugality.

get a radiant heater then none of that heat is wasted on the surrounding air but goes all to you.

No no no !!! these arent designed for caravans, they are split units with a condenser that you would mount on the wall outside and use in a house, except the Spanish install them in the front locker then pipe the cooled air through into the caravan , hence my reference to nose weight, so not only is nose weight probably shot, they also use lots of electricity, but the spanish are big into bbq's or wood burning pits for very large paella pans, so probably do not use much lecce for cooking etc.

why would you draw the conclusion its a small site? define small.

like many CC sites its open all year, and yes its nearly always full and in winter time theres still a large demand for electricity and/or gas so offering different 'power payment' options keeps overall cost down and allows customers to choose what works best for them.

however, what's any of this got to do with why a CC site shouldnt invest to reduce costs?

Small as in 5 toilet blockswink where is it?

As the small ? site you are staying has invested, to increase occupancy, not to "save"anything ,just hope their biuldings are better quality than elsewhere in Spainsurprised which seem on our visits to be more for show than usewink

Given the diversity of location and situation what as this got to do as to why they should make a similar investment.
