Doubt it. Just another virus. One of many.

I pretty much agree. I think the concern is that it might mutate. That could be a whole different ball game surprised

It won't make us change our plans to go to Lanzarote in a few weeks or to main land Spain mid April unless advised otherwise.

We have just spent the last 7 days on a cruise ship with 6500 passengers and 1500 crew.

The crew were mostly from the Philippines, India, China and lots of other counties, while 750 of the passengers were from China.

One or 2 used masks but not all the time, we saw some folk in airports wearing masks but again not many.

If you are in the at risk category then maybe seek advice otherwise as said the yearly death total from 'flu' is way higher than the figures we have so far seen from Corona.

    Now where were we laughing

Ah yes, Coronavirus. I posted earlier that I will still go in April, but whatever we think as individuals it seems the freedom to tour within the EU might be taken out of our hands. Italy northern regions can be no go at the moment and some countries within the EU are proposing the closure of borders.

Interesting that we still plan to go at the end of April, but may be stopped from touring across borders as we are use to.

Also if curtailed, does travel insurance cover this issue?

    Metheven,

Your travel insurance providers are the people to ask. Anything said on this forum may not be definitive.

Well there you go !!!, and I'd gone and bit the bullet and booked the ferry.

France might now seem a better option, depending on how this thing escalates.

Cheers 'dunelm', I have already Emailed my travel insurers. It was really a statement of awareness to anyone else with travel insurance.

We have a ferry booked for mid April to Spain, coming back through France. Hopefully there won't be a problem at the borders or we might just have to come home from Spain which could be a problem if the ferries are full. undecided

I suppose in theory there might be a situation whereby all borders are closed?

That’s what I was thinking, being stuck. I don’t imagine they(gov) will want to quarantine thousands of returning brits?

I am about (maybe) to book the tunnel for our annual 10 weeks of touring starting end of April. No destination as usual and will be taking in six countries (France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Italy's Adriatic coast). I just don't know what if any restrictions might be imposed, either crossing borders or being contained within any.

As for travel insurance Red Pennant has this exclusion under, 'You are not covered'

    b. prohibitive regulations by the govern-
    ment of any country.

Checked this one with the club yesterday as we go the same time and the simple answer is "Oh no you can't" unless there's official notification you cannot travel to Italy.

If you've already booked sites through the club, as we have, you also have to pay cancellation fees if you decide not to go.

As previously said by contributors, there's as much chance of picking up the virus in the UK as there is anywhere else in Europe so just be careful. I live a couple of miles from Arrowe Park where they're quarantining those flown out of China so probably running higher risk at the moment than I will in Italy.

I would imagine most like me are not too bothered about the virus itself, but more interested in the crossing of border curtailment or containment happening. Also if your travel insurance has an exclusion written in, as does RP in my above post to deem it null and void should you need it.

I think if I was going right now I would avoid Italy. However I am not going "over there" in my motorhome this year so thankfully I do not have to make any decisions but if it gets worse I know where I would rather be!
