LPG pumps on campsites

It was a standard fitting as I’m sure you're aware.
Would I have had it as an extra? No, I would not because of the foreseen difficulties in having to find an LPG pump.

Nail on head Tinny. Club has other priorities first.

"We did visit a site in Cambridgeshire that had an LPG pump on site, the site did have quite a few seasonal American RV on site so maybe to service them but at 86p a lite we did not use it, if it were more like the 65p most places charge then we would have used it for the convenience.
For us the cost is sort of irrelevant ----"
Does that not make the points some of us raised?
The cost to provide these limited turnover facilities force them to be expensive, unless somebody else subsidises the cost?
Given the high cost, many potential users will look elsewhere?
This even happens where to that user the cost is claimed as "sort of irrelevant" , in reality faced with an overhead recovery pricing, it becomes not that irrelevant.1 -
the tank of gas is already there so it is just a case of adding the pump bit to attach to the vehicle/bottle? On the site we were on it was in the middle of nowhere and I think they were just charging top dollar because they could nothing to do with the actual cost of supplying it.

The club do not sell bottles gas. The wardens buy the gas and sell it. Doubt that there is profit for the club.
For us the cost is sort of irrelevant as we want to be self sufficient where ever we are be it in the UK or abroad and we frequently stay on site without EHU so use more gas and it would be inconvenient to have to wait for a bottle to empty before changing whereas with a refillable we an top up when we see a pump, rather like fuel for your car.
The cost is not irrelevant as you would not buy at 86p a litre where it was convenient. Having a tank is no doubt useful if you use a lot of gas. but if the club decided to sell it at 70p a litre I suspect that may would not use it. Given the economies of scale for many garages that do sell gas along with diesel and petrol the CMC price would doubtless be dearer I suspect. T o make it saleable do they have to make it a loss leader.
If finding autogas was a problem (does not appear to great a problem for many at present) I would have sympathy with anybody buying a motorhome with a gas tank. I have far less sympathy for anybody using safefill, or choosing to have a tank retrofitted as they have an easy remedy.

And that is down to whether the wardens want to buy their stock at a slightly lower cost than the calor price list, the club have no say if the warden will not stock gas, which they cannot undercut or calor distributer will not supply ,

Oh, the rascals....
but if they paid 'the going rate' including a small profit for the club, why the problem?
as has been mentioned upthred, folk not staying at a specific site may well call in to exchange their gas bottle....apparently this heinous crime (not staying on that site) doesnt apply in that case? should wardens refuse to serve these interlopers?
btw, twas the club that decided to trumpet its 'motorhoming' credentials yet, years later, still dont have the basics in place...decent MHSPs, bookable HS, non-ehu option on every pitch..
hardly rocket science, any of them.

Possibly, but reselling it they will have to measure it with kit approved to Weights & Measures standards and that be kept in certification. Then there is the question of VAT, if any chance it could be used for powering vehicles I suspect Customs & Excise will what to ensure that and fuel duty are accounted for. Then, there will be the Safety provisions, whatever these are for handing it over to unskilled public use, in a retail environment?
Not DD's beloved catch all put down "nay sayer", more someone appreciating with retailing to "Joe public", these things come with complications and implications. What you can do DIY for personal use does not carry over.

A warden would have to check that they were bonafide members, admit them and would only be available at certain times. Limited staff you know. On C&CC sites where this service is provided they recommend that you phone ahead.
I, and I suspect others, paying to use a site with facilities do not particularly want additional traffic from those not using the site pitches - whether you can understand that or not is immaterial.

They are not visiting the barriered site which makes a difference.

And I thought that they were merely confirming the existing situation whereby Motor caravans were welcome to use the sites. You seem to think hard standing necessary - it is for me too but I can understand why the club does not offer this. CC do not do non EHU which is the case with many sites. It seems that you want a product that the club and many sites do not offer BB. Not a surprise.
You have not championed special pitches for motorhomes to utilise any parking areas for a while.

Steve, my last tank of LPG at home was 59p per litre..
so, at that price, the LPG is around a quarter (27%) of the price of small bottled gas, per litre

well, the going rate at the garage i used was 59p...

Thanks for that as we are having internet problems here so not sure if my post was getting through , but then if you can answer/ ammend my post it does mean that you seem to understand ,so is there any chance you can reply to any questions/querries that have been asked of you,, ,or more like any time recently, instead of what I think as many on here do as usual accept your posts as "fake news"

Err all the CMC sites I have been on sell Calor gas bottles on an exchange basis too. But only cash or cheque sales as it is run by the Wardens NOT the club itself, this was explained to me by a Warden during the recent Calor recall of Calor lite bottles.
Autosleeper, Autotrail V line and all the Trigano PVC owned brands made at the Autotrail factory in Hull, ALL fit fixed underslung re-fillable gas tanks as Standard they are Not an 'extra', my V Line has a 2x 6kg gas cupboard set inside the rear r/h door, so no body cutting was required. As I said on a 6m bodied PVC ALL internal space is precious.
Bulk LPG is of course cheaper than the pre bottled kind, but why SO much cheaper does baffle me. Calor must be making a fortune !
