When you can give intelligent answers  to other posts, instead of your usual sidestep,  then it may be worth you listening to facts

Ps as one those who it an over there traveller? can you maybe answer the question I posed in an earlier post of how many LPG pumps are you or any other continental camp sites users aware of or used on sites on mainland europe as I have spent a wasted remains today trying to find any without success

"The use of LPG is a big market as there is much extant housing and other users not connected to the gas mains."

I'm one of them and saw the tanker fill our bulk tanks only a few hours ago.

Not worked up ,just would like those who want another wedge of money spent by the club for the very few who may use it , without appart from one site in the UK it seems ,any feed back as to where any one has actually seen or used an LPG pump on any of the hundreds of sites that posters who want this facility seem to have used,   surprised

In any event the problem would not be at the pump but at the van when the cylinder was first used.

This just shows even those believing they are competent, actually don't understand all the risks, even a massive one..

A very big "problem" comes as soon as the liquid becomes warmer than when the cylinder was filled, to the point when the tensile strenght of the cylinder can't withstand the liquids inevitable expansion.

There is no need to wait till the LPG in an overfilled cylinder is used, dangerous as that is.

We have been regular users of LPG fill up points for the last 20 years. It’s as simple and safe as filling up a diesel or petrol tank, the only difference being that users might need to be shown how to do it first time. The staffing requirement in the office is possibly to ensure the pump is zeroed before each use, much like a petrol or diesel pump. We do occasionally come across an attended pump, where someone else fills up for you, but very rare, and usually quiet, rural places where they do the same with other fuels. So the staffing requirement is merely to take payment and zero the pump.

As for filling up......we regularly buy Calor bottles from Club Sites when we aren’t actually staying on Club Sites. Quick flash of the Members card, thank you very much, have a nice day.

Everything is possible if the planning is done properly. There are probably oodles more vehicles on the roads that would benefit from this now, than when we bought our first LPG fuelled car. We still see quite a few LPG converted MHs filling up, let alone those with the tanks for ancillary heating and cooking.

I think you will still be able to stay on site using just base, bog ,tap and pitch, and bring anything else along you like?

I don't think the OP is saying you have to use LPG pump or they will replace the selling of gas bottles?

Quite right. The OP is just bringing a new development/opportunity to the attention of people here and, in view of the club's response, suggesting folk email the club if they think the club should follow this innovative example in offering a full fat site experience to it’s members.

As a frequent "over there" traveller until recently, I can say that I have never seen an LPG filling facility on a campsite, though I have never actually looked for one.  We fill up between sites over there as we generally find plenty of fuel stations selling LPG.

We do the same here, but find we need to plan ahead more, and sometimes make a small detour to find LPG.

i would therefor welcome the facility to fill on site, but am certainly not demanding it!!

That's as may be but those that require/use these addition should be the ones who pay for them and all the additional cost that they are bound to incur.

Life ain’t like that really, we both know that🤷🏻‍♂️. Are you using pods?, you are helping to pay for them. Do you want new ablutions blocks?, you are paying for them. It’s down to the folk who run the company/club. You join & you pay your subs & they make investment decisions for the whole not small a numbers of folk. In all honesty that is the fairest way or nothing would ever improve👍🏻

Hopefully the pods will make a return on their investment and improved ablutions may well attract more footfall than those that become degraded.

K, agreed....much of the continental housing/industry runs on bottled gas, these are available just about everywhere....

many of the selling stations also have LPG pumps and finding somewhere to fill your van is easy...

perhaps this is why we've never seen an LPG pump on a french/spanish campsite...why bother, there will be one (or more) fill sites on the doorstep.

however, use of MHSP, no problem...just pay at office (that trust thing again).

fill points not quite as prolific at home but we manage easily enough.

whether this lesser availability will inspire CC to upgrade their offering, i doubt it...

as others have said, we cant even get to booking a pitch type and thats been debated for eons...

any service that requires warden 'supervision/management/approval' is off the table as it doesnt fit with the daily 'schedule'....

'gas fills only between leaf blowing and bin emptying' anyone?

If LPG tanks are built for a popular ever increasing section of LV’ers(Moho’s) that too may see a healthy return on investment. Particularly so in the ever increasing movement(too) of off gridding & their mantra-leave only footprints, take only photo’s👍🏻😊

Then why would the club provide gas refills that would be cheaper elsewhere?

It could be said that exchange cylinders are available at all sorts of retailers locally to club sites so there is no need for sites to carry cylinders for campers to exchange but that would upset the caravanners, wouldn't it?

So the divide between motorhomers (and this is supposed to be the Caravan and MOTORHOME Club) and caravanners is alive and kicking, nothing has changed since the club name was changed.

So, who said the CC Ltd fills would be more expensive and why?

I did but was not considering the tax element

Except the large money being spent to upgrade (not been noticed on other companies )Motor caravan waste points to cater for poor design of outlets on most, that doe not apply to the majority of members with caravans and now expect more to be spent for even smaller section by installing LPG pumpsundecided

Motorhomes etc were using club sites well before the name change. The name change reflected the situation although possibly the club wanted to reflect that fact in order to promote itself to motorhomes. Many motorhomes/campervans use exchange gas bottles also or maybe choose to use refillables as do some caravanners; not all have tanks.

Yes it would be a pain for me to have to source the size bottle that I require off site.

JV, you miss the point. LPG refillables are used by both caravanners and motorhomers.

This has nothing at all to do with MHSPs and your oft repeated mantra concerning MH drain taps.
