Who owns the Club

You have alluded to this before, the idea that (some here but everyone before in your posts) club stayers do not look beyond club sites and blindly go to them, but perhaps there are (actually no perhaps about it) many who have looked at other providers and decided for themselves that club sites offer the best for them?
That certainly is why I use club sites.

I would agree, even just by reading on CT everyone would know there are other providers. But the main problem is the vast variation in quality among them. People have said how websites and website pictures can be, and indeed have been misleading.
Yes there are sites out who rival and exceed club site standards, no doubt and I would think these are great if you like one, two... and return to them, you know what you are getting. But if you are planning to holiday or tour to an area you have not visited before, what do you do? Take websites at their worth, or book a club site where you know the standard (and indeed the pictures) will be what you like and prefer?

Oh Dear me YES Brian is positive of That since
A ) Brian is in receipt of the State Pension so if you pay your taxes as, like all good folks, I am sure you do then a { very small } part of that government income is paid out to us deserving Gerry Hatricks !!
B ) From my very first days with G P O Telephones until it was rearranged by Harold Wilson in 1968 we were Civil Servants & pensioned as such

{ Could not edit due to server error AGAIN !! }
Cont :-- When The Company was Privatised there had been long and arduous discussions which resulted in us hard working serfs getting the GOVERNMENTS PROMISE ( !! ) for stability of our pensions and equality with the C. S.
So I assume you are contributing nicely for which I thank You All & JVB most especially
So, now THAT's cleared up, I'll go and tell Chef what I want for my evening repast

I didn’t want to disappoint you, Husky. I do tend to reserve my likes for posts of substance that I agree with rather than the sniping personal point scoring post that we see much of these days.
Now, shall I like yours? Hmm…

Why not? You’ve done it before😂😂😂

My company pension also has the "golden key"that the union's of all the privatization of state owned companies agreed to,
Sorry if you feel that you did not realise there are other "serfs"in this world
At least one more who posts on here

Oh dearie me no, JVB, I hold no such illusions of supposed grandeur { ?? } I know that, weird and wonderful as I might be, I am but one amongst many serfs taking, in a manner of speaking, The Monarchs Shilling
But still if you pay them there taxes, as indeed I do, then you are helping me pay my way, So THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
[ please pardon my shouting, but I must ensure that you get my thanks ]

The original post is a very valid question - not so much in the context of it going bust but rather to do with the amalgamation with the Camping and Caravanning Club.

Which if the members of both clubs are gullible enough not to realise is what could well happen if those "looking"made a move and made an "offer" to the memberships, as with the two motoring organizations, which the members then regretted when they realised what they had "given away"for short term gain?

Do not know about the ARC ,but the AA when "bought out"it was put to the members who a majority accepted the "offer?" ,I expect it was also put to the RAC members?,
Which I would expect if would be the case if both the major clubs were a serious target

The Caravan Club Ltd has a share capital of £100. You need to own one of these 100 £1 shares.
Just noticed that my earlier contribution to this thread has been removed. I had a link to publicly available info so what was the problem? I haven't had any correspondence from CT admonishing Me!

I think chasncath should read the link below
https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/globalassets/pdfs/content/about-us/The-Club-and-how-it-works.pdf
In simple terms, as a "Full member" of the Club you own the Club. If you are a couple, one of you will be a "Full member" and as such are entitled to vote at the AGM. The Committee members are there to represent the members and if you read p13 of the January issue of the Club magazine there is an invitation to members to apply to join Club Council from which Committee members are selected. There's no conspiracy or hidden shareholders! Sorry.to disappoint.......

This question has been asked before, and was answered by a representative of the Club back in 2017 see...
If you want to get involved in how the club is run, I suggest that you offer to become a 'Nominated Member' of Club Council. This is open to anyone who is a member, unless they are involved in the 'caravan trade'. Unless you fall under bye-law 2.3
A person who is materially interested, directly or indirectly, in the caravan trade is not excluded from being a member but is not eligible for any Executive Position or for membership of the Club Council. The Executive Committee is the sole arbiter of what constitutes a material interest in the trade for the purposes of this Bye-Law.
This definition covers those who own and run CL sites (which it may surprise some to learn means 40% of the club pitches), so if you are an owner of a CL site, whilst you have to be a member, you cannot get involved in the running of the Club or advising any of the committees.
