I would abolish "membership" altogether and the restriction of "members only", and operate the sites on a commercial pay as you go basis - democratically and open to all - just like campsites in other countries all around the world, and just like hotels, guest houses, B&Bs, and other holiday accommodation. "Members only" was a class based idea which this Club held to in the past in grandfather's day, and now is simply archaic and past its time.

Good idea ET but obviously some will say that they can't get a pitch now so it would only make the situation worse.

However I can see no reason that they could not open many sites in the low season to non members ( at the standard member rates) when such sites are under occupied. I'm not saying every site but they could issue a small brochure listing which sites it would apply to and what times.

There’s a thought. As a non-member, would you be tempted to use them, Mikey?😙

I understand the IT system is an "off the shelf" system but  like all off the shelf sytems ,it has had to be "modified " to be as in most instances workable for the purpose, it is designed?/needed and in some areas is "still work in progressundecided

One of our Grandsons is well into IT and has so advisedsurprised

It doesn’t seem like any off the shelf forum software I’ve ever met, JV. 🙁

The forum is part of the website, JV, and if anyone put it on their shelf, whole or in part, it would never sell.☹️

I think that it's that certain members want the opportunity of choice of which way they can pitch their units, rather than in serried ranks as one sees on certain CC sites, brue

It might be part of what is the whole website but as i said the "off the shelf" as i said is only the basic part of any website, and are then made to fit the "enviroment" they are needed for  ,and as i also said some parts are of this website are "still work in progress" and as most IT packages they have a "list of priorities" and some bits are still "work in progress"surprised

It's been a work in progress ever since it came on line as far as I can see, and has been getting worse rather than better.

You believe whatever makes you happy, JV, but it can’t be both off the shelf and tailor made.🙄

For me it's more being able to pitch to take advantage of where the sun will shine

A grumpy CL owner recently advised me to pitch where the sun doesn't shine when I asked him. Didn't really understand him as it was quite an open site.undecidedsmile

I do not think pitches were "huge" as they are now bigger than in the past on cc sites but LVs are so much larger than the 10ft family vans i started with including gas mantles and foot pump (luxury) for the watersurprised

Its just expected when some do not accept what is obvios to most ,that nothing in this life  that is "off the shelf" is perfect for the purpose it was bought for ,and i have not mentioned "tailor made"on purpose wink

What about all the complaints about the new booking system for "over there", and what about a decent spell checker?
