If you could what would you change

Why not , much better for getting into Cambridge on PT and great food very near, as is noted by others a site is for visiting the area ,not to spend all the time on site
Ps its great for visiting the world famous Folk festival
,and on a less great place some need to close by Buses direct for visiting in patients or out patients at Addenbrooks Hospital

I do think parking up & walking round to select pitch wherever possible is a good idea. Somewhere, Battle, I think, gave us a cylinder to put on top of number post so no one pinched pitch while you recovered outfit. Seemed to work well.
Fewer all facility sites - we rarely use loo blocks, but use our van facilities.
Limit number of dogs per outfit and insist not left at outfit whilst owners are out (some high quality commercial sites do this). This year for a variety of reasons we have used more Club sites (and fewer CLs) and the overwhelming presence of barking/yapping dogs will discourage us from using Club sites next year.

Neither would I use CH again, dark, dull and soggy in places, much better sites to visit Cambridge.
Back to the OP
The ability to choose type of pitch ie H/S but not a particular pitch.
Flexible arrival times
Restriction on how many dogs, not popular I know but at some sites it does get out of hand.
Don't need restaurants, pubs, entertainment etc. Strangely its one of the things I like about club sites.
If there was an online subscription reduced I would go for that.

1. The choice of how to pitch your outfit to get best position.
2. More no facility sites.
Certainly not any more sites with bars/pools etc.

For me a site is a means to an end and that is location. I’m not one of those that spend daylight hours on site. Stayed at Cherry Hinton about 5 years ago and thought it was more than adequate being on the bus routes and having a reasonable pub a short distance away. I didn’t find any problem with getting in and out of site.

For me the appeal of our favourite cl (sadly closed now) was the cl itself. It was a 'destination venue' with spectacular views of the Eden Valley and I loved spending lazy afternoons in the caravan reading or listening to the radio and enjoying my surroundings. The owners became friends and it was our regular bolthole.
I have also stayed on sites because their location was convenient for other things (for example sites allowing good access to mountains and trails we want to do) but in some instances they are not places I'd wish to return to for themselves, as I just didn't enjoy the 'site experience '.
I always value the atmosphere of a particular site above all other considerations as it's ultimately what affects part of my enjoyment of my holiday.
But hey, each to their own😊

I had no problem with the exit when I had two good eyes and could just turn my head to look right. Now with no usable sight in my right eye I have to turn my body in order to see to the right and through my specs on exit. When last on the site the relatively poor visibility distance due to tree/bush growth presented me with a problem.

If you haven’t stayed on a Club Site before, it will be an eye opener!🤷♀️
You sound very like us, love of wide open spaces, making the most of the views, love the quiet, unhurried, unregimented do it your own way type of stay.😁
River Breamish is a nice site, a wise choice for your first. There are others that quite simply would have you dropped jaw with wonder at some of the goings on, the little rituals, the fuss. Best advice I can give is to just chill out, watch the unintended entertainment, enjoy your voucher night.
There are some lovely quiet little Club Sites, a small list nowadays, and best mid week away from school holidays to really enjoy them.

I am puzzled as to why a couple of you want the possibility of another two million pounds being spent on changing the Club name back to the Caravan Club? We have just left a site which had 80% motorhomes on it with caravans very much in the minority. Whilst that might be the time of year motorhomes are an increasingly important element of the Club's membership and it seems growing all the time, especially since the name change. I just don't see what advantage there would be and the money would be better spent on upgrading sites.

I rather think those suggestions were made tongue in cheek, David - and about as likely to happen as many of the other costly suggestions on here - e.g. more pools/bars/restaurants!

I'm puzzled by the pitch any way you want idea, I've been on some sites where that means barricade yourself off into a corner in a gesture of social defiance. Doesn't matter but I've seen all sorts of odd behaviours away from main sites.

I took it that such wishes were in jest David. I would be happy to see more non-facility sites but cannot imagine the club investing in any. The ones that the CMC have are, I suspect, anachronistic leftovers.

I’m puzzled by lots of things in this thread but, hey-ho, none of it’s going to happen and it’s like Santa’s wish list so why worry? 🙂

Back in the “old” days, when pitches were huge, outfits were smaller, and there were a good deal less folks out touring, it was possible to pitch differently, such as lengthways with pitch marker in middle back of outfit. They just gave a more rough idea of what pitch you were occupying, could be moved slightly to get out of the worn grass area, and even doing this you weren’t staring into someone else’s van watching their TV.
Hardstandings and packing pitches in did away with all this, giving us what you get nowadays. Progress comes with a good few negatives. It’s why some of us love CLs.....😁

That reminds me, must get my postal vote off!🤣🤣🤣

Likewise, and take Breamish for example where in places caravans are on three sides with extensive grass frontage, I would like to have my canopy and sitting area looking out onto that rather than into next door.
In reply to 'DK', lighten up it was tongue in cheek regarding the renaming.

While I could give a longer list of nice to have changes, the two that would be most beneficial to me would be:
1. An optional reduced subscription charge for a digital membership. The only thing I really use of the Clubs services lately are the sites.
2. The option to pay for electricity or not, that would make short stays more acceptable.
In my view it is only a question of time before the Club will have to adopt the above, Number two by metering.
