However true that is it doesn't make it 'right' to do so, does it?
I think the latest pricing policy is a step to far for some people, prices are going up we know that but lets not be underhand about it because all its doing is putting peoples back up.
It matters not a lot to me as we rarely use club sites these days, CL's are our choice in the prime time season, either that or we are abroad. However for those that have always used the club and expect them treat members openly and fairly then its a bitter pill to swallow.

I'm amazed how so many folk get so worked up by what has become almost a universal tactic in the travel industry these days. Anyone spotted Rob Bryden advertising P&O cruises? Reckon you can get that price for more than one particular cruise on one particular date ? Easy Jet sale prices? (Read the small print - one way only etc etc.)
Even more surprising, folk say "I don'r choose my site based on price" and then write at great lengths about how apparently offended they are at the club using this tactic.
Get over it folks! When you book a club site the one thing you know for sure is the price you'll end up paying for your chosen site on your chosen date. Anything else is just irrelevant. If you don't think it's good value, don't book - it really is that simple!

If so many folk are getting worked up about something there must be a reason for it.

Pitch +2 as a base price is another backward step!

It would definitely be a disadvantage to me (and others who go solo) as I'd be paying for a non existent guest and a lot of my trips.

No, no, you misunderstand - when the club quoted "from prices" for pitch + 2 if you turned up solo you still only paid for pitch + 1. I did it often enough myself. It was just a guide price.
In that sense, as I said earlier, or possibly on a similar thread, the "pitch + 1" is more logical as it's the minimum unit that can arrive on site.

if you mean why are people getting worked up about it?
Well I think that while any other travel or leisure company they come into contact with (ferries, hotels, rail...) they simply accept it as part of the advertising and don't get upset at all.
However when the club does so they take deep umbrage and accuse the club of all sorts of nasty underhand things, I really do think any chance to have a go at the club really?

actually never, but if you could post some examples?

+1 , spot on, nail on head...

Does it make it wrong?
a step too far?
What do you think people will start doing just because of this step too far? stop booking? Stop using club sites? Really? This pricing concept has been going for some time now, have bookings gone down during it? Or are sites just as full as before. I recall some wording in the magazine saying booking are up. Perhaps people just see the from price and just accept it as a advertising ruse (and yes I know it is) and really don't care.
I really think no one in their right mind would think that price applies all year or to everyone.
You book tours abroad, are you taken in by the low from price?

Having to make a provisional booking to discover the price only to find it is unacceptably high is a waste of my time which I resent. Given my anticipated span remaining, I'd sooner use my time more productively.

Its very easy when using the price of pitches book for this year only takes a phone call to EGH and as posted elsewhere its only pence differentials next year
but then if that where i want to go price is not given much thought, knowing how much costs are increasing across the board in most things (apart from diesel cars)

I don't understand your point. You don't have to make a provisional booking at all - the prices are absolutely clear on each site page, though obviously it depends on the level of one's mental dexterity as to whether it's quicker to make the "booking". And, anyway, isn't that exactly what you'd do when booking a cruise or any other sort of holiday?

I spend hours trying to book other types of holiday at least with CAMC it only takes a few minutes. I wonder if they need a lead in price at all, the prices are clearly visible on the web page. Perhaps the mistake was omitting current price lists in the book?

I understand the "new" directory without the full prices for this year was again because of "member confusion" and some of the posts on this thread seem to hold that up)when the second year of the bi annual directory was "confusing" for some when it came to pricing, hence the separate booklet ,but i think it should be enclosed with a magazine as was the directory update previosly

I just booked a couple of overnight hotels on Booking.com - now there's slick system.
It offered me prices instantly for the dates I wanted - either for one person or for two persons, standard room or superior room, took a credit card number but offered me either a price at which I could cancel without penalty, or a cheaper price where I would lose money if I didn't turn up.
Now there's an idea for this Club!

£25 fee is only for bookings via this Club. Book direct with Brittany Ferries and on line date changes are free almost up to departure date. I can give you a 10% discount code too ! Or you could join Club Voyage and get 30%, free meals, free day cabins and so on !
