Couldn't agree more brue, I notice that on the Brora site the other day.
Something like from £8.40, as you say that was for 1 person and a non electric pitch. If you add another person onto it you are cheaper going to a CL.
Confusing no, being ripped off no, but it does feel a bit underhand.
I'm used to the 'From' price way of doing things, the other day I was looking at a cruise the headline price was very good. By the time I had gone through the 'booking' process there was almost £1000 difference

Different ways of looking at it I suppose. If location is the most important, then EHU may not necessarily be that important. That's how I look at it anyway, as EHU isn't the most important thing to us, but location is. Good job we're not all the same

we'll be using our ebikes extensively over the two weeks at the THS site and will be charging them via an inverter and two leisure batteries supplemented by the roof mounted solar panel.
whilst we will be doing plenty of miles, OH new bike can do more than 100 miles on a charge so won't need charging every day...
as AD says, and I pointed out, for a few days it's not really an issue when just using a couple of hours tv, the water pump for showers and lights (not used much this time of year...), no special kit needed...
of course, staying much longer (some folk move from one THS site to another) more gas gets used (fridge) and refillables do keep the cost down, and batteries will need help with topping up and solar is fairly cheap and quiet...

It seems naïve to think that £10.50 per night and 50% midweek discount would apply in the main school holidays. (Haven't you stayed at any sites during this time in previous years?)
I don't like the new style of the handbook, preferring to see in print the actual prices as in previous handbooks which also clearly stated when the midweek discounts applied at each site. That is why I requested from the Club the booklet which gives that information.
The actual prices are also clearly given on the website under details for the site so you don't have to go through the booking process to find them!

I have been on the late availability pages of late as there was a possibility we might need to book a site at short notice because of family needs. What I did find was that there was a lot more availability than there used to be and looking at the pricing this seems to be considerably higher than last year. It does make me wonder if the rises have been just too high and at least one booking only just went through without me looking at an alternative.

I don't think it's misleading, but why charge per person? You take up the same space whether alone or accompanied, and don't use any more electricity if on hook up. We use our own shower as well, so we're not really costing them more.

The pricing policy in the handbook is an abundant demonstration of an attempt to obscure the escalating prices of club sites. Bean-counters rule OK.

I've noticed whilst looking at prices for next year, that on some sites the pitch price has been reduced a few pence and the per adult price has been increased by the same margin. Therefore for solos like myself the overall price remains the same but for the majority of members who are in a couple there is a small increase. Smoke and mirrors comes to mind. Bourton on Water is one such site.
Also i noticed that a number of sites are dropping mid week discount next year. Whilst some are gaining it, there is a drop in the overall number of sites offering it.

When you look at the price you may want to consider the running costs and of course the reinvestment which is running at over £10 million annually. I would hope that our hard working site staff would get an annual incremental pay rise.
This shouldn’t be an excuse to overcharge members but it may be an explanation.

I would think that the midweek discount is used as a tool to get better occupancy? If a site is being 'underused' then offering a MWD might get more people to use it? Likewise if a site that has a lot of demand there is no point of offering a MWD and losing income.
With regards to pricing, you do get the total for your stay before you confirm your booking, you're not in a travel agency having to make a rushed decision, or having some sort of pressure on you?
You are at home, if the price isn't to your liking then it's even easier than walking away - just press cancel. Or cancel your booking some other time when you have found a better priced site somewhere else.

with the rolling 12. mth booking system the prices for a year ahead are always known....they're on the website now....so those pricing decisions have already been made.

But not untrue is it. Just about every LI advert uses the same marketing ploy to attract customers

doesn't matter at all what the from price is, you do others a disservice, many if not almost everyone knows the from price in anything you buy is largely meaningless.
Book or not your choice.

why will I be disappointed? you mean those ferry companies are using misleading pricing tactic (your own words btw).
Anyway the last ferry I used in recent times was the North shields one. I really can't see me using a ferry in the future either.
