Disappointed
well we thought we would have a few days away next week in the lakes,park coppice looks grand I said to err indoors so I opened the details for said site, it said from £10.50 and 50% discount midweek,this’ll do says I ,so I go through the booking process for 2 nights,well I nearly had a queer do when it comes back at £47.80 that’s ni on £50.00 by time thas bought a ice cream.

I think 50% discount midweek is only at certain times of the year, usually the quiet times when nobody ventures out. We were there a few weeks ago and great site as no caravans in a line and all scattered about willy nilly. get a long 25m as aerial cable to reach bollard as tv reception is not good. Will be going back quite often as love the layout. Also make sure you have plenty of levellers as some places very steep.

I'm not sure what's so difficult about the concept of "from" indicating a minimum low season price, but you're certainly not the first to have been confused by it.
Still, under £25 a night for a site in a prime holiday location at the start of the school summer holiday seems remarkably good value to me!
(And of course you could also save a few bob by not buying "err indoors" an ice cream!)

Pointless, a waste of type space, could do better - yes to all of them but not really misleading as it is factual.

+1 the price is clearly shown before final booking is made, also the prices for the dates are also clearly shown on the web page, how is any of that misleading?
Did you book then Jack? or book a cheaper site/CL?

From the number of posts we have on this subject it does seem to cause a degree of confusion. Those of us well versed in the way the Club have set the prices in the Site Directory perhaps don't understand why others maybe with less experience of the Club are having difficulties. I will flag this up to Rowena so that she can pass the views higher up the command!

I agree, it is indeed very easy to avoid club sites; we haven't stayed on one for over two years.

I suppose those folk who are confused, also believe that other headlines of this type apply to all bookings. Such as Travelodge for £29. Yes they do exist, but only in limited numbers at sites they have difficulty filling.
Once they are gone the price reverts to market forces. I'm glad the CC don't adopt this approach. I was trying the other day to book and the price came back as £150 😱. Who would pay that? Clearly somebody, because when out of interest I checked an hour later, it was shown as fully booked.
Although thinking about it, perhaps they could adopt the system for the likes of Baltic Wharf and York.😉

Club are trying to make their “from” price look more appealing (which would indicate a recognition that a lot of folks are finding the prices more expensive). This has two results, isn’t fooling those who understand fully what is going on and how the seasonal pricing and carefully rationed discounts do eventually add up! Secondly, as an educational tool, it serves a purpose in teaching the unwary to read all the small print, get to know the system, and always check the final price before committing to the booking. As with a lot of things in life, if it looks a bargain......be suspicious and check things out😁 Then commit if the booking suits what you want.

I have been wondering about this vexatious use of an almost unachievable "from" price in the advertising, and the effect it has on the percieved customer base. We have seen it annoys experienced bookers, upsets novice users, and probably contributes to non-members staying that way.
But, is there another reason hidden away in the machinations of the system - something to do with setting a minimal price in site cost administration?

Just curious: why would you doubt someone wouldn't use a particular site/CL "as it doesn't have EHU"?? That's a huge assumption, isn't it?
We don't need EHU 100% of the time, and I'm sure we're not alone in that, Merve for one (obviously) springs to mind.

InaD, I would have thought that if the OP was wanting just a couple of days away, and were happy to do so on a site without EHU, then they would have chosen that as their first port of call,and not bothered trying to book a club site in the height of the summer season. Hence my comments.

I would have thought anyone would be fine on a non-EHU site for a 'few days', so i don't see that as any sort of limitation...quite likely it will be even more peaceful because of that...
we're heading to a THS in Hampshire next week for a fortnight and there won't be EHU there....but the location is spot on, in a nice town, cycling directly into the New Forest and surrounding towns of Highcliff, Christchurch, Lymington etc....
oh, and £9 a night...not a 'from' price....the actual price per night
