Tutorial for uploading photos and video

Thanks everyone for your feedback...at least I know it is not me now and I can give up on the challenge! It is a bit 'naff' to say the least, not sure there is a point in C&MHC putting a thread on to assist if they are not going to update it and address any concerns or problems - seems about as useful as a chocolate frying pan!

This thread was started two years ago when there had been, what we thought, was an upgrade to the forum software. Some of the things worked others didn't. Initially it seemed to be people using Apple products that had problems but now it seems everyone does in respect of avatars. In truth it very much depends on what plans the Club has for Club Together and whether it is worth spending money on something where there seems no guarantee that it will work. For all its failings it still gives us the opportunity to discuss important issues. Not sure if anyone else would agree but even despite its shortcomings it seems a whole lot better than the offering of the other Club!

Thanks for the response David,
I would have thought communications are an important issue and any up-to date information regarding the use the forum will form part of that.
How on earth are new users/ members supposed to work out what is relevant and what is redundant amongst the the myriad of topics and discussions? Several answers have come back above to the effect of 'Give up' - not much of a message to send out if an organisation is trying to reach out and encourage better engagement - the daft thing is that this thread was started by a member of the Communications team!
Clearly this problem has rattled on for a while so I would have thought it better to remove the thread if it is redundant and no longer intended for it's original purpose...updating does not cost money, just wastes time for those looking for answers and moderators no doubt providing answers.....Thank you for taking time out to answer, I hope the 'club' appreciate your efforts ....Have a good New Year, Regards, Dave

That's the app I use on I-pad for photos. Very straightforward.

It is but we’ve no idea what devices Freddy and MM use so it may not help.

If Freddy and MM use Android devices, it is also available for that platform from the play store.

On my android I go into my photos, look for "export" (find three dots in the top right hand corner.) Press export and reduce the first size to 500, press done and use this photo for CT. The photo will be saved in both old and new sizes.
To add the re-sized photo on here. Press add photos in the CT reply box. Click on the "downloads" choice on your phone. This will bring up your photos, select the one you have just adjusted by recent time and date. Press select and "open." It should download on to CT.
Have a practice on here, it's easy when you know how!

I have signed out on my PC, switched to my phone, resized and this the result. Shouldn't take long once you get the hang of it but use the systems advised for different phones.

Mine is an iPad as well. I just play with the width and height count until I’m happy with the pic and the size drops to something sub 500kb (red). Then I save the end result (blue).
It's pretty quick if you enable the app in photos so you can send the pic straight to it via the upload arrow.
Flaming grey bar!😬

Personally I think the 500kb size is adequate for forum posting. I still have the first digital camera I bought, at great expense, in 2000. It's high resolution mod was 500kb. True you can't zoom in indefinitely as you can with the multi MB images of today but it provided very adequate photos.
What I do think poor, is that the use of a third party App or other software is necessary. An auto reduce feature should have been built into the forum when it was updated. I can see the CC not wanting to use up expensive server space holding large images and videos but why no straightforward way to post a photo?

Steve, 500kb is nothing now. Today’s cameras produce high res pics that are far more data rich and reducing them below 500kb degrades the quality. 500kb is behind the times.
I agree that auto reduction should have been built in and once again this forum shows its shortcomings. Others do it so much better.

100kb image. Try opening image in new tab for full size. Plenty detailed enough for a general forum

For general snap shots, yes, but for viewing detail, no.

So you said, along with it being detailed enough for a forum. It depends what one wants from a pic, I guess.

I totally agree, Freddy. Adequate sums it up but it could be so much better.

I tried the ‘image in a new tab’ trick, yes I can see it’s a LV but other than that it does the van no favours it’s like looking at it thru water. . .It is fuzzy. Not what the photographer wanted to portray I expect☹️

I wonder if it could also have something to do with the unit taking the photo (phone/camera etc) and the unit the photo is being viewed on (phone/tablet/laptop etc). Unfortunately some 'work' has to be done to upload photos onto CT. Coast photo 500 pxels
Apologies in advance to EasyT for using your image - I only wanted to see if I was able to make the image clearer - a test - 500 pixels.
