Google Chrome has the ability to find images on the web: just right-click on the image and select 'search google for image'. If you use photo library images people will assume that they are your own. Here's an example from this forum, pixel for pixel, leaf for leaf -

On the rare occasions I add photo I use a photo resizer app, recommended on here. Resize and store before posting, bit of a faff 😉. But I don't think they're available for iPad. Good luck

I've a resizing App on my Ipad - just search in the App store.Very easy to use. It's called "Resizer" or something equally obvious.

    Open App

Select photo from Camera Roll etc.

    Input pixel width - e.g.600

Tap download icon - it adds the resized image to the same album you got it from (doesn't delete original).

Then reply/open post - click "add photos" - click on the one you want.

    Takes minutes (if not seconds)!

    Hi,

I have just tried uploading a story to the your stories web page, did it as a word doc and embedded some pictures. Copied and pasted, words all show but no pics. I have seen other posts with pictures embedded in the text, how do you do it please? e.g. this post has pictures in it and more than 5 - https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-together/your-stories/chasncath/amboise/

Unfortunately the system won't allow embedded photos. I see you have added the five pictures into the original story and you could add more by using the comment box to add another five.

As to adding them into the text as Chasncath does it  is a bit more complicated. I use the same method, originally under instruction from Chasncath. It seems only to work in Firefox and involves pictures previously posted online to be dragged into the story by having the story page open at the same time as the picture source, so basically a split screen. You then just set the cursor where you want the photo and then drag the photo over into the text. I generally resize the picture to a width of 700 pixels and I find that works quite well. I appreciate that it appears quite complicated, perhaps not helped by my description of how to do it!!! If you get the hang of it then it is very worthwhile. If you wanted to have an experiment by starting a practise story I can always delete once you have mastered the process rather than risking messing up your current story.

I have not fully read your story yet, but will later. It looks very interesting and I hope a few more that normal make their way over to have a look.

Thank you, I had seen your post and wondered how it was done. Doing this now in firefox browser, just tried to drag some pics into this reply from the computer, I had made the pics smaller but doesn't work for me I'm afraid. Tried copying and pasteing, that doesn't work either.

    Regards

TP, you can't drag and drop from your PC. The photo must already be on the internet. Try drag and drop with one of the photos you uploaded into your story onto this thread or into a comment to your story. My photos are stored on Flickr.

Have uploaded pics to Google, they won't transfer over from that platform. I did manage to move one from an earlier post.

Shall leave it at that for now, better things to do than spend more time on it or create more accounts!

    Thank you all.

    Allan

I appreciate that you are keen to embed them in your story but don't forget you can also add more photos by adding a comment on your story. You will have to resize them to a smaller size than you needed to for the original ones in the story banner.

You can drag and drop photos already on CT: they're held in a Global Assets directory https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/globalassets/discussions/d7aa1dd5-9666-41d5-89bc-6c19bf781873/

But the bad news is that Google modified their sites so that live links cannot be created, so Google Drive and Google Photos won't work nor does MS Drive

This has been discussed in other threads but, for reference, I find this re-sizing app easy to use on an iPad.

On Android I use the export tab on the photo gallery, most phones should have their own editing facility.

As TW, I use image size on my iPad or phone, very easy to use.

Selecting a photo in the photo directory and pressing export in photos brings up a myriad of options, one of which if you have downloaded it can be the Image size App. Alternatively, if you have several to resize it can be opened and used independently.

Thanks, Steve, I hadn’t realised the app could be told to appear in the export options. Job done.👍🏻

I have tried numerous time to upload a profile picture without success, file sizes have been reduced as recommended in the tutorial yet all I am getting is: '' Upload failed. Must be a valid image (jpg, gif, png, bmp)'' They are my own original Jpegs that I have taken either on camera or phone - image files have been reduced both in paint and photoshop, neither work....Any other clues?

It's a well documented failure on this forum, I know how to do all those things regarding the posting of photos etc but the Profile photo beats us all. If you see a profile photo on the forum it is because it has been there for an eternity, just can't be changed or updated or replaced.

Mine looks nothing like me frown

I seem to recall they have to be 500 pixels (I think) and you have to have Adobe Flash Player to add profile photo. Adding a 500 pixels photo to a discussion seems to work OK but not been able to add profile photo for a long time.

Rochelle mentions in her OP..."if you have any further questions, please let me know"...

How about addressing the problem with members not being able to upload or alter their profile picture...Just checked and tried to replace mine....the 'profile' link just keeps going back to 'view profile'..
