For Venice you might consider Camping Serenissima - 12 km to the west - which has a bus stop at the gate for a 20 minute ride to the city. But there are other options on the coast for you to approach the city by boat across the lagoon.

Just about the nearest site to Venice is Camping Venezia (ACSI) very convenient two minute walk to bus stop and ten minute ride over causeway. Site sells tickets for public transport and has a restaurant and good quality facilities. There are two parts to the site the original pitches nearest facilities mixture of sized pitches with shade and a newer section more open (2016) to the sun still only a short walk. The bus stops on the main road the stop to Venice has to be reached via a footbridge just in case there are any mobility problems there is a lift but looked unreliable.
Bardolino is a very nice lakeside village with plenty of restaurants etc and can be reached from Camping Europa along the promenade in about five minutes.
Rovinj is a very nice place to stay in northern Croatia the name of the site we stayed at I don`t recall now but there are plenty in the vicinity, search for a photo of the town.

We have been to Venice four times over the years. It depends on whether you mind travelling a bit further to Punta Sabbioni which is on the far side of the Lagoon. We have stayed at Camping Miramare three times, only a short walk to the ferry and once at Ca Savio which is a short car or bus journey away. Of the two we prefer Miramare. Pictures of both sites below.

Hi
Punta Sabbioni +1 is the place to stay in Venice, I notice you have a Motorhome because there is two asostas/aires near the ferry terminal and also a couple more near Jesalo, aires in Italy are very expensive and will cost 25 euros a night now but the views from Punta Sabbioni are fantastic and well worth the drive. Enjoy

Camping Fusina for us, every time. Lagoon side site, ACSI, pizzeria, water bus 150mtrs from site. Informal pitching, as long as you can reach a bollard.
Strange approach through industrial areas, but the site is worth it!

Doesn't matter where you stay in northern Croatia imho, it's all nice. Istria peninsula or slightly further south to Kvarner Gulf (where we stay)
Stopped off at Lake Garda on the way home (many sites available) and took the train into Venice. Although quick and convenient, I wouldn't choose to do it again, simply because there was not enough time to enjoy Venice and there were hordes of visitors. I was advised to spend at least 2 evenings in Venice to see it at it's best - which you can do if you're sited close by, using the Vaporettos to transport you to and fro.
Whichever/wherever you choose, enjoy 😀

Al Bateo Agricampeggio in Punta Sabbione is arguably the best site for motorhomes. The facilities are excellent and the pitch spacing good. It’s a 5 minute walk to the ferry for the Lido and to St Marks. The ferries run until 11pm ish so there’s no rush to get back in the evening. It’s also on the right side of Venice for your onward journey to Croatia.
The are numerous sites on the Istrain coast but the ‘Krk Camping Resort’ site on the island of Krk has the best facilities and the most immaculate pitches we’ve ever been on in over 50 years camping. It’s also an ideal site for walks into Krk town.

The annual 2 week Bavarian Pfingsten (Whit) holidays start on the 7th June so sites in the lakes and on the Adriatic coast will be very busy. You will always find some sort of place for a motorhome but if you can avoid the popular places during these two weeks so much the better.

We too stopped at Ca Savio which is a huge site with all the facilities you could ever want (or not want!) but right on the beach and with easy access to the ferry at Punta Sabbioni and a stunning way to approach Venice (by water ought to be the only way!) Although huge with many operators, the site was quiet in early June.

Good point about the only way to arrive in Venice, especially San Marco, is by water. It adds an extra dimension to the enjoyment.

Another vote for Serenissima! We fiited in a day trip to Venice on our way home from Croatia a few years ago. It was October so the weather was still pleasant and the city not too crowded. Make sure you have a map if only to get you back to the bus station. Here are a few photos of our day trip.Day Trip to Venice
And here's some advice on our route for getting from Italy to Croatia.

We have been to Venice a number of times and loved every visit. We usually stayed at Ca Savio and got the ferry from Punta Sabioni, which we agree is the best way to arrive in Venice. Get a one day Vapariso (boat bus) ticket and once you have looked at St Marks Sq just lose yourselves in the backstreets of this fascinating and unique city. Agree eating our may be expensive near the main hotspots but once away from them it is not too bad; a few years ago we had lunch by the Grand Canal almost opposite the Rialto bridge and it was reasonably priced considering the location. The Lakes will be very busy during the German holiday as I suspect will be Croatia. and Venice but you should be able to find a site if you arrive mid day - it might be worthwhile phoning ahead the day before your arrival in the area to check availabilty We were caught out by this holiday a few years ago but managed to get a pitch for the first night moving to a much better one on the same site the next morning. Our route to Venice/Lakes is the Belgium, Luxemburg (fuel!), Germany, Austria one then either the Brenner or via Landeck into Italy. Toll free until Italy (or Austria if using the Brenner) and cheaper fuel in Austria. Plenty of sites en route and don't forget to join ACSI.

For some reason my link to our route from the Lakes to Croatia got diverted to caravantraders! Here is a usable link which included info about an overnight stop at Aquilea.and the ferry to Cres

The major advantage of main stations is that they usually have toilets even if you do have to pay. Venezia Santa Lucia Station is quite surreal as walking out of the front door is like walking onto a film set.
