Grey water waste on super pitch in France

Hi All, having booked a super pitch in France, what am I going to find I need to drain a MH waste, site info very basic, will a good length of flexi hose do the job, like a washing machine drain ? Any help appreciated. Malc

    Without knowing where you are going your question is impossible to answer. Sorry. No two campsites in France are alike.

    I understand from reading quite a number of threads about "over there" that motor caravans are so popular because they do not need special pitches as they have large tanks and can be emptied every few days or so at the "dump" facilities that are provided just about everywhere.

    Or are other posters misleading us?

    Going to Camping Bel, Tranche Sur Mer, booked off CAMC website, to address the point made, the Super pitch was all that was available, but having now done two sites, waste water is a pain and for a waste system to be available is a bonus

    One thing I have noticed on some French and also  in other countries is that services are often shared between four pitches. How far away you are from the point will of course depend on where and how on the pitch you are parked. I now use washing machine drain pipes because the are less bulky and easier to store than the ridged hose.

    Website information - Abandon your car or motorhome at this small family run campsite

    There are 200 pitches on site - if this is small - how big is 'big' ?

    As Eurotraveller says no two campsites are the same. In my experience most grey waste drains on pitches are simply  a bit of waste drain pipe about 4 inches in diameter with a removable cap on. Any bit of flexible pipe that fits your motorhome drain pipe will do. The problem is how long it has to be to reach the drain. One approach is to buy the pipe when there from a hardware outlet.

    Thanks All, Points clarified, Thanks David, will be looking at the flexi washing machine hose idea, as for the site, chosen for the beach which I have used many times before, though this is our first in our MH, still learning, which is why I like discussion group input. Malc

    We have been known to use a bucket for emptying grey waste in a nearby (appropriate) drain. This has the advantage of ensuring we empty very regularly since waiting until our 90 litre grey water tank is full and needs emptying doesn't work well in really hot weather and can attract flies. Sorry if that sounds gross - we learned the hard way one very hot summer!

    ....but if the drain is nearby (on the pitch) a connected waste hose will all the waste tank drain cock to remain open so there will be no grey water in the tank....it'll all go straight down the drain....smile

    no smell and no need for buckets?

    Hi Malc, your washing machine hose for waste following BBs advice sounds fine.

    The next unknown is getting fresh water from a French campsite tap. I have seen them with screw fittings (metric rather than imperial) and others with smooth surfaces of odd sizes to test the range of Hozelock adaptors you have in your tool kit. But I did once admire the patience of a man who was filling a large Motorhome with a hose from a push button tap which did no more than dribble.

    We use a bucket rather than a wastemaster with our caravan and most sites are happy for us to use this to water the hedge bottoms (after asking of course). A bonus is not having to cart the heavy wastemaster around with us....

    With respect to push button taps, I carry a stash of cable ties and I can normally arrange some sort of way of holding the button on with these.
