There are many things in life that I look at the price of something & think 'sod that' (or similar) It's not that I can't afford it, but I'm not willing to pay that & buy a similar product from elsewhere. eg B&Q and Halfords have loads of stuff in there at high prices but if you're willing to look, you'll find the same or better elsewhere and probably be helping support a local independent.

Caravan Club sites have always been premium priced for as long as I have been a member. The question really is "do they offer good value" and only the individual can answer that. Very acceptable alternatives are available if required.
There are several ways of pricing goods for sale (pitches etc), one of which is a cost plus basis. Not the best way to make a lot of money but perhaps suitable for a genuine club. The Caravan Club seems to operate on what market will pay basis. This can make lots of money and is very tempting for any multi million pound leisure organisation.
Unless and until people stop going and demand begins to drops away, the prices will keep going up. The Marketing people will be watching for this.

Indeed, I agree with you and have always said that, pay if you think it is what you want/good value. Of course then don't criticise others for buying from where they want or complain about the prices somewhere else.
But again you are not buying the basics of keeping alive, hence the inflation part I alluded to.

Yes and worth every penny in my view, still no need for you to apologise about your mistakes in that post BB. Easy to do
ie for Hillhead it is £35 not £45 now, and most sites (as shown by a few above) are around the £30 mark not £40 as you said.
those who might well be on site now (as you say) will be paying close to £40 for a nonSP and nearer £45'for a SP.

well, the peak prices have been going for last week as well (we arrived on the 5th) as we paid them so not sure what you mean about from today?
Expensive? not in my view and you are talking about one of the most expensive sites and taking that as your 'benchmark' (a sort of inverse of the solo+1 price you are against) to prove your point.
If you look at a 'standard' club site the prices are almost the same.
A SP where I was costed £38.70 per night per couple, next Easter it will cost me £40,10, an increase of £1.40, not really a lot?
ET's prices will go up to £33.70, again an increase but hardly near your high 'benchmarks' of £40 -£45
For comparison the nearest non club site (Quiet site) a few miles away is currently £40 with a non refundable deposit, extra for dogs, and extra cars

A bit of context.
Today I had to make a flying visit to Poole.
Normally when I am here I stop in a very nice Britstop at Furzehill but I do not want to be tempted by alcohol tonight. This is a working visit.
I checked on a CL nearby but did not want to pay an extortionate amount for a slab of concrete at the end of Hurn Runway. I also really wanted EHU as I wanted to use my Remoska and electric kettle.
So over to the other club and a CS ... I get hook-up, I get cold water in a wash basin, and I get a loo but I get no welcome as even though the price is £18 per night they do not want one-nighters in Easter week. I was made to feel about as wanted as a fart in a spacesuit.
Then a light bulb moment: Wareham. A very nice warden "of course we have room for you for one night". Off I trundles, only noise is birds singing, the usual warm and welcoming sanitary block, with hot water for my hot shower tonight, 16A EHU as kettle boils and Remoska sizzles, all for a fiver more than a concrete slab at the end of a runway or £3 more for cold water in a cold basin if I could get past the cold welcome.
Oh, also £90 a night cheaper than the hotel that my friends wanted to book me into but I saved them the money: I would rather be in my camper, my own space, my own bed, my own bedding and everything where I want it than in an overheated room sleeping in someone else bed trying to go to sleep over the noise of next doors television and being woken up by all the other doors banging.

We are on Black Knowl again since returning from a very quiet Southlands except the serviced pitches,and this site is extremely busy with families as it was last week ,and as was said by the younger generation compared to us, the prices are not exorbitant for these days

if the club are 'allowed' to highlight the absolute minimum (valid for a day) prices just to give them their headLine, why can the other end of the range also be highlighted just to give 'balance''?
because you have called that practice 'sneakiness' and said how it 'grates' on people and here you are now doing the same. If you thought or said it was wrong then why copy it?

At least the CAMC attempts to give clear prices on each individual site page but as both clubs now have rolling bookings the prices will be rolling too. Unless the CAMC intends to do the same as last year and let people book at the previous years prices at certain times. Confusing or what.

Maybe it is because they think most people will not remember 12 months on when they book in what the original price actually was, and they will get away with charging the new (higher) price.
