Summer trip to Spain and Italy
We are planning a summer trip to Spain and Italy in a caravan. We will have about 5 weeks. Apart from the usual places of Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Venice, Florence and the Lakes. What are some must do while we are there, in these places or other places I haven't mentioned. Thanks in advance 😁😁

Hayley, totally agree with comments about you are planning to do too much.
These are enormous distances you are considering eg UK to Rome is 5 days towing, then to Madrid from Rome 3 - 4 days. Also you need 3 - 4 in Rome to appreciate this beautiful city. Do one or the other or you will just spend 5 weeks driving without seeing anything. Like Another David, I would suggest that 5 weeks is not enough to do your wish list for Italy let alone add on Spain.
Be less ambitious and you will have a wonderful holiday.

Although there is a Grimaldi lines car ferry from Barcelona to Civitavecchia (for Rome) - runs six nights per week, takes 20 hours, and saves an 800 mile drive.

Having been robbed in Florence many years ago when caravanning with the family, we tend to avoid the big cities when touring and save them for a city break when we can stay right in the middle at a hotel. Staying at a site and driving in or getting to public transport can be problematic so you need to choose sites wisely. You need three days each to see Rome and Venice and maybe two full days each for Barcelona and Florence.
On the other hand, the Italian lakes are ideal for touring.

We did as far as Sorrento last year with a stop at Rome then over to the Adriatic side back up via Bologna and back through Switzerland in five weeks. Covered Pisa, Florence San Marino and Venice on a previous trip. To do Spain and Italy in five weeks including a lot of city sightseeing is a bit heavy going. Just to travel down to see Rome may well come as a disappointment (dirty and the biggest tourist trap of all) unless you are particularily interested in the history and like queueing.
