Member Offer: My Esso Card
Comments

Hi All
after applying for the Esso Card in early December 18, I eventually got my card on Jan 6th, but I cannot get my PIN number.
i have gone onto Pump-King website as instructed “to retrieve my PIN” and that’s it!! no PIN no card number. I thought if I entered the card number it would tell me the PIN. But you can’t enter it.
My brother is having the same problem with his, too.
Are we doing something wrong or are others having the same problem?
Thanks

As the MyEssoCard website is still unavailable surely it's looking rather more likely that Esso or Wex have told Pump King to remove it?
I note that myessocard.com was only created in November.
I can't imagine that Esso's lawyers are happy at the damage that's being done to their brand.

I have still not heard back from anyone but I gave my bank a call and was put through to the disputes department. They were happy to cancel the transaction and give me an immediate refund. I was told that the banks have lots of problems with these type of companies who cannot cope with the volume of what they are doing!

Received my Esso fuel card today which was applied for at the end of December. Logged in and retrieved my pin number immediately without any problem.
After reading some of the problems that other have encountered I thought that my luck was in so I bought a lottery ticket for tonight.(Never buy them). Maybe I can be lucky one more time!!!!!!!!

Lucky you, I’m on the point of taking a pair of scissors to my card!
Which website did you logon to?
Did you logon using your email address? I can’t recall being asked for an email or password when I set the account up, but I do get a text message each month from my inaccessible account.
Good luck with the lottery

I received my Esso Card yesterday. The text that I received last week had a verification number (6 digits) and when I went to my profile it show a 4 digit pin number. How do I verify it please

Had a text on 4th January to say that card would be in next few days. Still not arrived. I have tried to contact using the number given but it just rings and rings and then cuts off. Sent an email to the contact address given a week ago and no response to that either. Planning a couple of trips where discounts would have been useful. Don’t think I will bother wasting any more time.

It appears that the Club can't get any answers either as Rowena says she has passed issues on but doesn't come back with any constructive solutions / comments so one can only presume that she hasn't had any response from Pump-King?
Bit of a dogs dinner at present!

It would appear that PK/Esso have decided that the best way now is to not answer phones or emails and that they have all gone home - apart from the double billing department.
Promised help following emails to the Partnerships Product Manager at the club hasn't appeared either!
I still (after 7 weeks) have not got a card and when/if it does arrive I now seriously wonder if I dare use it, assuming that the card fuel cost is lower than local supermarkets - this week the Esso card price is 2p/litre MORE.

Seriously, when (if) you receive your card, cut into bits and chuck it in the bin. This scheme has DISASTER written all over it and it’ll probably end in tears.

I think that a scheme of this kind would be subject to statutory arrangements and therefore be regulated by the Financial Services Ombudsman. As individuals we can make a complaint or something along the lines of a class action led by the CMC (after all they are partly responsible for this mess) might be more appropriate?

SB, Logged in to www.myessocard.com. It asks for email address and password that you used to set up the account. There is an option for forgotten paswords. Details came up immediately showing 4 digit pin number.
When I set up the account I was asked to create a pass word.
Hope this is of assistance. Have not had occasion to use the card yet. That may be another story when that happens.

Back in mid December I had to reapply for my card due to errors at either Pump-King or at the CaMHC. As compensation I was offered £5.00 to be credited to my account. I now learn that this will actually be a credit against my next fill-up. Not the one that I have had but the next one. Are they hoping I might forget it if they play it out for long enough? I know others have been offered the £5.00 compensation. Did you ever get it?
This whole offer has been a disaster for the vast majority writing on this thread many of whom are not regular contributors. Wouldn't it be nice if, fore once, the club came back to us and said "Really sorry, but we seem to have made an almighty cock-up with this one. We'll do what we can to get it rectified as quickly as we can but will keep everyone informed about what is going on every step of the way". At least it would show that they are human after all. Oh, is that a flying pig?

Just had an email from the club telling me of all the offers they have and I cannot believe they are still promoting the Esso card! And the draw for free fuel is still their with a date of the 19th January, what happened to moving it to the end of January?
I am still waiting for my card from the 1st December, apparently they are sending out a replacement for the 1st one that didn't arrive. I have contacted the club through this forum and through their Facebook page and I have got to say their replies are pretty poor and of very little help. I am just told to hang on and my card will appear!
PK have changed the T&Cs without informing anyone and still the club sit back and do nothing. It is about time the club responded to all the complaints from its members and either sort this mess out or stop the card altogether.

IBH, I have reported your post in the vain hope of someone taking some interest in this thread.
Don't hold your breath though as the Club, who, as you rightly say, are promoting this apparent disaster to the masses seem to be in hiding
I wonder why??

I have emailed the club, more than once, and the best they can come up with by way of response was
"The offer has been very popular with over 90,000 members signing up. My Esso Card and working as quickly as they can and do apologise for the delay."
That doesn't strike me as being all that bothered about the fiasco and even less bothered about trying to sort it out.

Their Ts&Cs say that they have you give notice of any change to Ts&Cs, which they've not done.
Like many people, I've been waiting since before Christmas for my card.
If their back office systems are in such chaos, their costs are likely to be out of control. I hope they have some deep pockets!

I seem to be a rare type person on here.I got my card within days of applying and have used it 3 times without any problems.Price has been lower than all supermarkets in my area, except this weeks, and correct funds have been taken from my account 5-7 days after filling up.
Hope I haven't tempted fate saying this.

Just as a slight but still connected aside, on our local community Facebook group people have been complaining that they have the new(?) Esso payment app on their mobile phones that you scan at the pump to pay for the fuel that you've had. The trouble is, at our local Esso station at least, the app won't work and as somebody has said, the use of mobile phones in petrol stations is supposed to be banned.

Been waiting over a month now for the card.
Still get the text on Friday informing me of the price of fuel. Pointless really without the card.
I have emailed the accounts department on the email address on the log in page. I've told them to not bother sending me a card and to remove all data hold one me. As yet no response. Not satisfactory in my opinion.
The Club should of tested the capability of the Essso promotion before putting it to the membership. Most normal people would realise that a big club whose members use fuel to persue their pastimes might sign up in their thousands.....

Is that actually the case? Last time I checked the Community Manager has made in the region of 8/9 replies to posts in this discussion. Hardly a lack of interest? I am sure the Club is making representations to the company concerned but the only real sanction they have is to end the offer which would be harsh on those for whom the scheme is working well.

With respect David, the "offer" is not the Club's to end, they are only promoting it.
As I see it, once anyone has signed up with Pump-King the club has no interest in the deal.
As regards to Rowena's comments they mainly refer to passing on the concerns of members to others, I presume?

When this offer first came out, I estimated that any benefit over supermarket fuel would be marginal. Having yet another card and consequent online account etc adds to life's complexity. I want to make my life simpler. From reading through over 500 responses I feel I made the right decision.

Davidklyne in case you missed it there have been 556 posts on this thread with the vast majority being complaints going back over a month.
The very few replies that we have had from the club have not even touched the surface of the complaints with the exception of the double dipping.
I think that the club needs to WAKE UP and answer some of the complaints or address the whole issue!

Hi David
8/9 replies to a discussion with coming up on nearly 600 (mostly negative) posts about an offer the club promoted is quite poor in my opinion.
My issues has been escalated to Laura the Partnerships Product Manager in the club but still no response from Pump King.
The facts are that, yes, my contract is with PK Fuels but the offer was promoted by the club, I used a club referral code and I have a club branded fuel card so the club has a commercial agreement with PK Fuels and therefore should take some responsibility in the issues raised.
It may well be the they have a huge back log of cards to issue but that shouldn't stop them liaising with their customers and sorting out the refunds for duplicated payments.
