Extra sailings (and some altered timings) announced on Brittany Ferries routes to and from Le Havre, Cherbourg and Roscoff - for dates from from Brexit day to 12 May 2019. As yet nothing listed for dates after that. And as yet no changes listed for B/F routes to Caen and St Malo. New timetables on B/F own website. I don't know what DFDS are planning on their routes.

On our local news last night it said that those affected had been rebooked with some switched from night to day crossings. The news article said that about 5000 booking affected but that most changes to booking were minor and that they were contacting all concerned. If you are concerned why not just contact the ferry company direct to find out. Like Iansoady, we will just wait a while for things to sort themselves out before booking our early summer trip.

Interesting, we almost always use DFDS Newcastle Ijmuiden tried to book a crossing 29th June return 26th July but it is fully booked this has never happened before, we have always booked our crossing at this time of year spoke to DFDS and they said it was because "they are fully booked and we should book earlier" so we booked a crossing with P&O Hull/Rotterdam for the same dates no problem.

We always book our tunnel crossing direct with the operator as it is easier to change (which we frequently do!). The booking service is available at weekends or you can change on the Internet.

Having been to France the last 5 years and had a wonderful time , we have decided to miss it this year. This Brexit really has put a damper on going there. Not just for France but the e u . Whether taking a holiday or buying property. The sooner we all know the better it will be. Those who have retired can alter the days if anything happens but for us who work that is not the case.

much the same, was due to go Poole - Cherburg 2 April but brought this forward to 26th Mar so we got out before Brexit, will worry about getting back in sometime during June, dog is only worry, waiting for rabies anti body results, but it is getting more complex to ensure you have all your ducks in a row, going to get International driving permit, as well, just in case £5.50 so no big shakes, oh! and clean air sticker for France, again, just in case another £5.

We only have the Spring ferry booked at the moment, that's from Hull to Zeebrugge. The Autumn one we are waiting until we have decided which way we want to come back from Spain.
We have looked at getting the International driving licence it would seem we need to get both versions as Spain requires the older version.
We have no intention of not going abroad, if we could only caravan in the UK, I don't think we are ready for that yet. Maybe one day but not yet.

Most people who travel abroad with a caravan or motorhome have a strong sense of adventure so it surprises me that anybody would consider not going. Brexit is hardly the worst thing that could happen to prevent or hinder your journey. We shall be booking the Tunnel for May/June as usual.

I was travelling to the continent for holiday before we joined. It's all a bit Shakespearean - Much ado about nothing.

Yes, its easy to forget isn't it!!! We have all got used to it being no more difficult than crossing from Buckinghamshire into Bedfordshire. Whilst we have yet no real idea of how things will turn out it seems it will never be the same again!!!

Hi AD, our first foreign trip involved getting currencies for France, Belgium, Switzerland and Italy. We also bought vouchers that gave you a discount on petrol in Italy, due to the high prices, and our first border, were we were stopped and questioned, as near Dunquerque!
Ah, those were the days...............not!
As DK says we sometimes forget what the 'good old days' were actually like!
So far as the BF story goes, we had TV coverage on Monday night of the '10000 bookings' affected and yesterday afternoon it was one of Radio 2s news items with an interview with someone, who had their crossing 'cancelled', but the majority of stories seem to suggest that most affected have had the booking amended, not that could for some be a real PITA.
We have held off booking but it does not look like any sailings we might use have changed.

Funnily enough I was doing some work last night on our journals and got looking at one from 2002. We travelled down in January to the South of Spain and en route stopped at a small site in mid Spain at La Carlota. We were their first customers of the year and when we came to pay they hadn't had any experience with the newly introduced Euro. So we were the first to give them some along with some Pesetas we had, just in case, to make up the difference.
Lovely site as well, overlooking Olive Groves with crystal clear skies and minus temps at night. Only problem was the shower block. It was spotless but Mrs WN and I were in fits of giggles as the doors were the type found when entering Saloons in Cowboy films. Good job she isn't too tall or too small.
